Javi Martinez is apparently willing to leave Bilbao for a whopping 40 million euro offer, Bayern Munich made, making him the most expensive transfer in the Bundesliga..... Bielsa had threatened to leave Bilbao, if Martinez should leave after Llorente has already left.

By the way is takao still around?

Sad news about Muamba. I really wanted to see him take the field if it was possible, and I'm sure the news was simply devastating to him.

But he's alive, and that's by far the most important thing. He's got the rest of his life ahead of him.

The Team will be: Stekelenburg; Van Rhijn, Heitinga, Mathijsen en Willems; Sneijder, De Jong en Van der Vaart; Narsingh, Huntelaar en Robben.

I recall Heitinga getting bad reviews for his performance in the Euros (in terms of skill, not attitude). Some pundits even suggested he was finished internationally, so it is interesting to see him back here.

USA v Mexico...tonight in Mexico City (4pm ET on ESPN2 if you can catch it). We are sending a B team down for this "friendly", mostly as a trial by fire for our squad players in the runup to the World Cup qualifiers. Our record in Mexico stands at 0-23-1, and the incredibly hostile environment of the Stadio Azteca, with 104,000 hateful fans, smog and 7400ft elevation makes it likely that it will be many a long year before USA ever posts a W in a match there. But for training purposes it is ideal.

Breaking: The RVP to Man U deal is apparently complete.

Portsmouth's situation has become increasingly tenuous. It seems a real possiblity that they will be liquidated, with no Newco on the horizon either...

If they do survive, I hope it's through community ownership, rather than absentee billionaire ownership.

Apparently a £24m fee and a four year deal with a £200k/week wage ticket. For a 29yr old that can be injury prone and will be playing in a midfield that is geriatric and lacks creativity. Then again Rooney+RVP partnership if pulled off would be a strike-force to be reckon with.

Wenger has either done a good bit of business here or has effectively handed the 2012/2013 EPL title to Utd on a silver platter.

Speaking of which that is now SEVEN strikers Utd have in their squad.

After 30min. Germany plays with 10. Goalkeeper Zieler got a red. Müller was taken off and ter Stegen came as goal keeper.

Edit: Argentinia 1:0 due to german Kehdira kicking in their own goal, while trying to defend a corner. Ter Stegen touched ball, but couldn't grab it. Strange things happen. Though they are doing well with ten players.

When healthy, RVP is among the best forwards in the world. So in that sense he's worth it. But whether he'll stay healthy and adapt to Utd's system is another matter. I expect it will be good business for United. It will also be good business for Arsenal IF they can replace his goals.

I'm not so sure about the silver platter bit. Man U's defense is still of league-winning quality, as are their strikers. And the keeper seems good enough. But their midfield is only adequate. Man City definitely have a better squad in my opinion, and Chelsea are just as good.

But it's getting lonely at the top; Arsenal have zero chance of winning the league this season as far as I'm concerned. It's all down to the Glazers, Sheikh Mansour and Roman Abramovich. The best Arsenal can hope for is a fourth place finish, and I think they should be just about good enough to get that.

That is the post-2005 Arsenal FC's definition of a successful season. I personally don't think we'll ever win the league again under Wenger, Gazidis and the current Board's rule.

I'm now just praying Guardiola takes over once Wenger leaves.

Most clubs would kill for that level of success (Spurs for starters)...

I think Liverpool might finish as high as fifth if everything clicks, but I don't think Champions League football is a realistic goal for several years even in ideal conditions. Even a Europa League championship is unlikely.

You guys might yet still invigorate your squad with Tello and Sahin. Just don't do a Wenger and sell Agger.

Cheer up, Arsenal fans – at least this news has really, really upset Piers Morgan. :)

Piers in typical fashion has really been laying it to RVP

Belgium played like well oiled machine, and won 4 goals to 2. The Netherlands was not really it the match for long periods. This has shown that there is still a vaste amount of work to do rebuilding. There is going to be no quick fix for the problems facing Dutch football today.

So, Happybunny, what next for the Dutch? The squad has huge talent, and many of the players are still relatively young...

Arsenal fans should remember that they've acquired Podolski, Cazorla and Giroud. So all is not doom and gloom. Those are three very good players.

Thats why i'm not too broken up about it. If a player says he wants to leave you have no choice but to cash in. Unless you're Spurs (Seriously just sell Modric already). Wenger learnt from last season and quickly bought two decent replacements whilst holding out for a decent price.

I just hope he keeps Song (who actually wants to stay) because i don't think M'Villa or Sahin would be better options. We should also start looking for a decent left back to cover for Sagna who is now approaching the big 3-0.

As for RVP all the best to him but now i have even less incentive to watch Man Utd matches. Also he will now join, and arguably top, the list of most hated ex-Arsenal players. Although i still think Adebayor owns that title.
