“Peyton is the Classiest person/player I have ever met! I could learn so much from him! Thank you for being a great Competitor and person,” Sherman wrote. “There is no reason to bash him on here please Seattle let’s just enjoy this one!!!! He is still a Future HOF player.”

Now that's the Sherman his intimate fans who know him wanted the rest of us outside Seattle to hear. I may have been a little hurt, well a lot hurt, when Sherman and the Seattle D took us out of a repeat trip to the Super Bowl, but I am glad to hear these great words from Sherman.

He may have been a role model and legend in the making for Seattle, but now, especially since all the press has followed him like a celebrity, he has to be a role model for both the entire NFL and sports in general. Also, good Super Bowl commercial with Sherman in it and way for him to back up his image as a defensive one man powerhouse. It's time for him to step up his game and be a role model to younger players who come up after him from now on. Not long from now after a Manning or Brady retire, Sherman may be the NFL's most visible player so he has to change his image or perception of his image.

And I said for awhile, the Broncos reminded me of the 2007 Patriots. Record setting offense, but no ring to show for it. Defense > Offense.

It was certainly similar in that case. Just about everyone agrees, now and from as far back as I can remember that defense > offense. The first one wins the games while the other one sells the tickets.

I mostly overlooked the Broncos, who were not on my radar much. Yeah, Manning put up impressive number, but as I said a few pages back, they had a pretty soft schedule overall in the regular season. Once they got into January, the numbers dropped precipitously.

This. Something like 12 of 16 games weren't against playoff teams? Not sure if that's accurate, but I heard something like that yesterday.

In the end, Peyton Manning did not lose the superbowl, the Broncos lost the superbowl. When it came to teamwork in a team-oriented sport, the Seahawks were the better team.

Yes, it's a team sport. But think of it on the flip side. If Denver won yesterday, all we'd be hearing today is how Peyton Manning was the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's a double standard. If they win, he gets all the credit, but if they lose, the "team" takes the blame. He deserves his fair share of the blame. He's their captain, team leader, 5 time MVP, one of the greatest to ever play the game, and yesterday he came out with no fire and looked like a deer in headlights from the start of the game. That's how you come out in the biggest game of your life? He's supposed to be the leader on that team.. what do the rest of the guys think when the leader looks like he gave up before the 2nd quarter even started?

This is how Peyton had the record setting regular season :

This is why Peyton lost the Super Bowl :

Maybe. I mean if Denver won the game and Peyton threw for 300+ yards and 3 TDs commending him would be justified but I don't think we would be saying the same thing if he posted last nights numbers and won. The talk would be he was able to win on two teams but I don't think anyone would be saying anything aside from that with those numbers.

Not even close. The Broncos played 7 games against playoff teams this year and went 4-3.

29 Sept Broncos vs. Eagles W 52-20
20 Oct Broncos vs. Colts L 33-39
10 Nov Broncos vs. Chargers W 28-20
17 Nov Broncos vs. Chiefs W 27-17
24 Nov Broncos vs. Patriots L 31-34 OT
1 Dec Broncos vs. Chiefs W 35-28
12 Dec Broncos vs. Chargers L 20-27

EDIT: The Patriots only played 4 games against playoff teams: Cincinnati, New Orleans, Carolina, Denver and went 2-2.

At least the Broncos had a closer game against Seattle in the pre-season, that one was 40-10, and Manning threw at least as many TDs.

i wished i'd known they played in the preseason. i'd have guessed better in the office pool.

HA! Just from looking at that the Raiders played at least 8 games vs playoff teams !!

and we only won 1.

My mistake. Like I said I couldn't remember exactly what it was but I remember them saying 12 of 16 stat. Maybe it had something to do with the ranks of the defenses they played or something. But regardless, the season is over now, so it doesn't matter...

On to the offseason. :)

What a snooze of a Super Bowl. From the commercials to the game on the field.

Congrats, Seahawks fans.

And I miss football already. :(

Yup this pretty much sums up how I feel also. The commercials were absolutely horrible. With the exception of a few. The Radio Shack The 80's are calling and the Tim Tebow commercials. I thought those were the stand out ones for me.

NEW YORK – The National Football League will team with long-time broadcast partner CBS to produce and televise Thursday Night Football for the 2014 season, it was announced today by NFL Commissioner ROGER GOODELL and LESLIE MOONVES, president and CEO of CBS Corp., and SEAN McMANUS, Chairman, CBS Sports.
CBS will air eight early season games that also will be simulcast on NFL Network. NFL Network will also televise eight late-season games in the run-up to the playoffs. The mix of games will include 14 on Thursday nights and two late-season games on Saturday.
The full slate of 16 regular-season games will be produced by CBS with its lead broadcasters and production team, including JIM NANTZ and PHIL SIMMS, on all Thursday night games. In a new twist, NFL Network hosts and analysts will be featured in the pregame, halftime and postgame shows along with CBS Sports announcers.

That won't help NBC's Thursday night.

Hate, hate, hate Thursday games.

@HubbuchNYP: Phil Simms doing games twice a week is technically waterboarding, from my understanding of the definition.

I don't like the Thursday night game either, but hopefully the games will be better if CBS is showing them and not just the crap teams.

I don't see how CBS televising them changes anything. Man was not meant to play NFL football on 3 days rest.

Doesn't that just mean people won't have to buy some subscription to the NFL Network in order to watch Thursday football ? CBS will air it. That's a good thing.

Speaking of good things . I hope a couple other players from Seattle have the same attitude.

"Golden Tate says he would be willing to take less money in free agency in order to return to the Seattle Seahawks."

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...-less-money-free-agency-stay-seattle-seahawks

One way to help Seattle's Salary cap problems next year. I can see a bandwagon effect. These guys want to try and get a 2nd ring.

CBS will air the first 8, NFL Network the back 8. All games will be produced by CBS Sports.

Smart move by Tate and other players. The biggest challenge for the Seahawks comes in a couple of years when Sherman & Wilson become free agents.

Glad to see I will only miss the last eight unless I go to a location that has the NFL network. This is great since I pretty much missed all the games this season.
Did you really miss anything, most of those games sucked.

Seattle having a massive victory parade this morning. Enthusiasm for this team has been far, far higher than it was for the '05 team that went to the SB, even before the game. The governor of Washington has proclaimed a Moment of Loudness at, umm, 12:12pm PST.

Tate is on the bubble and there are rumors that Seattle might not resign him. He's definitely making the first move by putting things like this out there.
