Özil joining Arsenal apparently, kind of surprising, but I guess Ancelotti didn't count on him and Bale gave him the rest....

"aha". ;)

...

oscillatewildly: Moyes' team selection may have left something to be desired, but losing Rooney was simply rotten luck, and given the way Rooney played against Chelsea you have to think he would have made a difference today.

Yes, but Young, and Giggs. [crying] :)

olup - Özil - yeah, depressing if true. daneoni may faint.

silentownage001 - near the end for Dawson?

Perez is a Levy wet dream - penis waving aplenty.

Giggs did have an off day, and so did Young (though, like Jordan Henderson, some say he's simply not good enough).

Apparently there was something of an imbroglio at Anfield due to (what Liverpool suits claim was) a " ticketing mix-up" that left Roy Hodgson sitting with the plebs rather than in the directors' box. Actually, he sat with the scouts - presumably good seats anyway. But word is that he got pretty huffy about it. Calm down, Roy, I doubt it was a deliberate snub.

Re: Arsenal v Spurs, I agree with Lord Blackadder that Arsenal were the better side today and that this Spurs team is not as good as it could be down the road. And I also agree with silentownage001 that Holtby needs to be in he lineup. The boy's creative and an excellent passer.

Spurs will be alright, but the loss was disappointing. Good luck to Bale. I've enjoyed watching him play and hope Tottenham will get to face him in the Champions League next year.

Of his time at Spurs? Probably next summer. Have to see how Kaboul recovers and if he will perform at the level he was at. Also have to see how long it takes Chiriches to settle. If they're both successful then I'd be looking for someone to replace Dawson next summer.

The BBC are reporting the deal has been agreed for £42.4m. Steady on there Arsene!

Although could Man U scupper the deal?

Real will be down to 9 after Ronaldo and Bale are sent off for fighting over the first free kick within 30 yards - baseball caps at 10 paces.
Not sure if they'll actually be on the pitch at the same time? Wonder where they'll both fit in if they are?

Yeah, they could, but would be a rather ignorant move imho. They don't need him at all.

Sure, they will be both on the field. no problem goning forward, they probably switch sides all the time, I can see them being utterly dangerous, even better than Messi + Neymar. They just have shoot a whole lotta goals, because the will concede plenty against strong teams, imho.

I think the only reason Giggs was on the pitch was so that he could argue every single call against ManU. At least Young didn't fall down in the box.

The Liverpool/Hodgson mix up is such an embarrassment for Liverpool. They do know that Roy is the England coach, don't they? At least they had the decency to apologize to him.

Not gonna get my hopes up about Ozil. Been burned too many times before. I hear PSG and United are also in for him so things could still very well go south and we could have another Willian situation in our hands.

Hear Liverpool are also in for Di Maria but at least that one i can be more comfortable with since we have Champions League football to offer.

If Wenger does pull it off i'll very happy...for him, the fans, and the players.

But yeah...tentative.

Think it's a done deal. Anyway, quite surprised that United didn't reach out for Prince Boateng, fantastic player, rather cheap and did play PL before. Would have fitted very well imho.

Arguing is probably something to do with his surname beginning with G. ;)

Young was too busy running away from Liverpool players back to his own half. Di Maria is available, Woodward should put in a GBP 5m bid.

Ozil - there was something last week about the player being offered but Manchester United and Manchester City declined at the price/wages. Who knows the truth? United need to improve elsewhere.

If the Arsenal do end up with Özil, I wonder how that would affect the club's wage structure? His wages have to be double the next highest paid player.

I think RVP would've been our highest paid at £150k-£200k had he stayed but i think thats now Walcott at £100k.

Ozil potential salary reports are that he'll bank £180k, so yeah, a fair bit higher. But thats somewhat expected given the player/current climate. At least in this case he's arguably worth it.

Gazidis did say we could afford £200k no problem.

EDIT: Apparently United have agreed £24m for Felaini and stumped up the €36m required for Herrera. Bilbao really never back down from their valuations. Same story with Javi Martinez. €40m or bust.

There's no doubt that Arsenal can afford to pay higher wages, but is Wenger willing to do so?

Well we shall see. It would appear so. Seems Wenger is starting to accept the reality of the current climate. Given the bids for Suarez and Higuain (who was set to take home £125k/week)

If you want the top players you need to bring out your chequebook.

Probably more flexible now that they've nailed down the Puma deal and shifted 27 players off the wage bill

Ozil currently undergoing a medical in Munich with the national team's doctor on behalf of Arsenal, whilst back in London word is that they've put an enquiry in to Chelsea about Demba Ba.

It's finally happened. Jim White has finally got to Arsene Wenger.

I know y'all aren't interested in the likes of Chelsea & co, but if Mata to PSG is really going to happen, I'll go into my room and silently shed a tear or two. Such a great person and a midfield with Oscar, Haz and him? This isn't even borderline cruelty.
