It is quite puzzling how Mata has been treated thus far. Best player for Chelsea 2 seasons in a row and Mou rewards him by benching him and buying Willian.

EDIT: I'm hearing the Ozil deal is done. And that Viviano has signed on too.

Still waiting on official word for Ozil before i believe it.

The '...One' taking a risk if Mata leaves - fans will use it if things don't go well.

Wages - one consideration is how many current players have parity clauses. As daneoni says, Arsenal will be okay given the numbers they have shipped. Forgot to mention, nice Arsenal away kit - though I'd prefer a blue club badge.

Edit - Joy for Everton and Manchester United supporters, Baines is staying.

Cheers,

@ tweetie: re Ribery player of the year (sorry for being that late on it). You probably know I am not a Bayern fan as well, but I think it is deserved for Ribery aside from Bayern. (I can follow takaos point).

---
While talking about Bayern. I do not understand Guardiola. Why does he really have to try to reinvent the wheel. I mean, I am happy, that this season leaves some surprises, but I read today, that from now on Dortmund has to fail once, so that Bayern can get on place one at the end of the season. If Dortmund does not loose (including draw), Bayern will only have the chance to be second. Sorry, if that doesn't make any sense, but that's what I read, did not do calculations on my own ;)
Maybe Guardiola is like not winning is the aim, but trying new stuff. (a brand new reinterpretation of the olympic motto)

Well on the other hand, Dortmund gets close end results per match, too. Maybe quality is a bit equalized this season? (hm...) combined with luck for the smaller teams?

PS: tweetie, what did I just say about being sceptical about Mainz. Lost 1:4 against Hannover, (ending the small series of wins on the same matchday as Hertha)... well, the season is not over, yet :)

Was looking forward to seeing number 52 in Amber.:D
Seeing such frivolous squad numbering on our magnificent stripes would set my teeth on edge.

My kit OCD is already itching over how low Elmohamady's name and number '27' is on his shirt this season compared with his team mates...

...one of our first teamers running around with a shirt number in the 50s would tip me over the edge.

Whispers tonight that we've put a bid in for cambookpro's old chum Shane Long...

£5m wouldn't be too bad for him. He's a great player, but does chew chewing gum and dive a little too much for my liking :p

Will win you loads of penalties though, and is a great goal-poacher.

Meanwhile at the Madejski, we're sort of running out of hope that we'll buy anyone :(

Basically, we've sold one of our best wingers and our best central defender within two days of each other with no replacements lined up - on top of that, we also need a new striker!

If the reaction of the City fans I follow on Twitter is anything to go by, folk are happy at news of this deal. However, it apparently depends on West Brom bringing a player in themselves before they'll sanction Long's sale.

I think we can all see where this deal will fall down.

Apparently WBA are interested in Lukaku on loan like last season, so all is not lost Jaffa!

Although that may hinge on Chelsea getting another striker in, which may hinge on that club getting another player in... the vicious cycle of TransferDeadlineDay™ continues.

B52 is only staying temporarily because
a) Mourinho didn't want to release Ba
b) Nobody wants to outright buy the self-professed top 5 striker in the world who earns £52k.

I'm sure Wenger will still have his eye out for a centre forward in the next transfer windows.

As for Chief Exec...thanks but no thanks. Gazidis is already a handful as it is.

transfer wise: sorry for being ignorant (you know I'm not that deep into it, as you all are), but from what do I have to know Bale? (100.000.000,-EUR seems a price for a person I should have heard of).

GBP 27.5m FFS - mushroom clouds

Edit - Cox Orange - Bale; The odd bit in Europe - against Inter Milan - and some good/very good EPL seasons. He isn't up to Ronaldo. The move is pure Perez - look how much I can spend.

Cheers,
OW

Seems United have landed Coentrao on loan. To me they need a RB more tho...

£27.5m for Felaini is definitely inflated. You have to wonder why United didn't go in whilst his £23m clause was still active. Everton have played it shrewdly...or United have been careless...or both.

They need shooting. Coentrao, another defender who can't defend. As for right back, Rafael has been a big miss; v Chelsea and Liverpool* - quality of attack, *whilst Jones was on.

Edit - Jaffa Cake - did Fryatt move?

Cheers,
OW
