Great result for Liverpool, not the best performance in the second half. Though, Cardiff deserve credit for applying a lot of pressure for most of the second half and getting a goal back. Liverpool definitely have a problem with fading in the second half and I can't put my finger on why.

Liverpool's attacking prowess continues to shield an occasionally dodgy defense. Skrtel is a bit inconsistent; he was lucky not to concede a penalty today with all his manhandling of Cardiff players in the box. The rest of the back four are hot and cold. Top of the league though…for the moment.

Waiting to see what happens to Mackay. Shameful.

Klopp is beginning to lose a bit of his shine…Bayern are sure to run away with the league title it seems. I haven't been following the Bundesliga too closely, but isn't 6th place pretty good for Hertha?

Considering they were playing 2nd league last year it pretty much is. Yep. It's totally awesome and the most unbelievable aspect is that they really deserve that spot!

Dortmund sure is happy as hell about the pause now.

What a big season for them! I hope they can stay up there.

I think we will struggle to finish in the top four. Although, if Suarez keeps banging them in like this it might be easier than I thought. But that is a very tenuous thing to base your hopes on. Without Suarez and Sturridge Liverpool will struggle mightily. We need our dangerous forwards to take the pressure off our defense. I also question the ability of our midfield to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea.

At best I'd say Liverpool are a 4th-6th place team with a very outside shot at challenging for the title. Which is still a great position to be in!

I wish we had Sturridge available for the Man City match, although Raheem Sterling and Coutinho are contributing.

Football from the Eredivisie

Friday

Waalwijk 1-1 FC Twente
Since the win over Feyenoord Waalwijk are a team on the turn around. FC Twente will rue all their possession, and the missed points.

Saturday

AZ 1-5 Heerenveen
AZ just fell apart there is no other words for it.

Heracles Almelo 2-2 Vitesse
The big surprise of the Saturday, Vitesse took a 2 goal lead like expected, but then Heracles began a fight back. At the end of the match Vitesse were lucky for the draw.

Feyenoord 3-0 PEC Zwolle
Feyenoord are now a team that gives little away, and PEC are toothless up front.

Roda JC 1-2 Ajax
Ajax made harder work of this than they should have only winning in the last minutes.

This is the stand of the Eredivise for the Winter Stop.

1. Ajax 37pts
2. Vitesse 37pts
3. FC Twente 34pts
4. Feyenoord 33pts

Next matches in 2014

Zzzzzzzz

Only 1 shot on target and we're at home. Thats just unconscionable. Also, Giroud has cost us 4-6pts in the last 2 games. Incredibly wasteful.

Also, Mike Dean!

*sigh* if only we'd gotten Suarez in the summer. Me thinks we should've gone in hard and put down £50-£60m on the table. I hate that i'm saying that but he'd have paid for himself by now.

The Mourinho voodoo continues...

I expect nothing less from the future cultural capital. :D

Chelsea were at their Mourinho-esque worst…he doubted he could win the game, so he effectively destroyed it instead. He is a master at that.

After the 40 million + 1 pound deal was rebuffed, many Arsenal fans claimed they'd dodged a bullet by not picking up such a morally questionable player as Suarez…Lady Blackadder told me I'm not allowed to buy a Suarez T-shirt because he is a racist. I guess I should have bought that Peter Crouch T-shirt years ago. Talk about hipster...

Giroud is in a bit of a slump but he started well. There's nothing to say he won't come good again soon.

Well, it's time for Liverpool's hot start to the season to come crashing down in short order. I just hope they can take it on the chin and move on…and I hope Liverpool can at least make a game of it.

Don't be pessimistic. City's defence has been shown to be very penetrable all season. We managed to put 3 past them and we don't even have a striker firing on all cylinders. You have Suarez.

As long as Liverpool are disciplined in the middle and at the back, you can get something from the game.
