...and Mourinho drops 3pts. City only need to draw today and against 'Pool and they're on course.

Glad to see Chelsea punished for their reactive style of play. A more attacking approach would surely have gotten them a win today. The Terry OG was just gravy.

City can afford to drop points today but they won't want to. Can Arsenal hold on/go ahead over the next 20 minutes? EDIT: 1-1. That draw really hurts Arsenal's title hopes, but Man City will not be really happy with a draw either.

Mathematically still possible especially with Chelsea's results today. Arsenal no longer have to face any of the top 3 either and injured players will be returning also. That said its highly unlikely now.

However, if Liverpool win all their matches they get the title. IF that is. But their fate is in their hands. Same story with City.

Seattle 1-2 Columbus

Ok, some background - Seattle are managed by our old MLS Cup winning manager, they have our best ex-defender and captain on their roster this season, they have big names Clint Dempsey, Obefami Martins, Kenny Cooper, Stefan Frei on their roster, they play on a silly plastic pitch of an NFL stadium and their fans are filled with Pacific Northwest arrogance and entitlement, even though they're a brand new team who've never won the league...;)

Ahem, so tonight's win was huge for the Crew. We went down to a Kenny Cooper strike in the first half. A very open game until Djimi Traore (of Liverpool/Istanbul 2005 fame) kicked Columbus striker Dominic Oduro up the arse inside the box, giving away a penalty (which Higuain despatched emphatically) and getting a red card for his troubles. It rained steadily and the wet plastic pitch really hurt our passing accuracy. Seattle played well with 10 men. It stayed 1-1 till the last kick of the game in the 90th minute - which happened to be a sweet curler from Columbus forward Justin Meram into the the top right corner. Unsaveable. Sucker Punch. Scenes. Columbus derail the Seattle Hubris Train in their own house. We start the season W3-D0-L0.

:D

Rumor is Wenger has locked down a deal for one Josip Drmic (never heard of him either). But he looks half-decent.

Then again its Wenger so don't be surprised if the rumour is nothing but air.

EDIT: Everton win their 5th consecutive match. Now 4pts behind Arsenal with a game in hand. A great chance. But they have a run-in which includes City, United, Arsenal, Southampton and Palace.

The big news here is Feyenoord moves into the second place thanks to a 5 - 0 win against Go Ahead Eagles.

1 Ajax
2 Feyenoord
3 Vitesse
4 PSV

PEC Zwolle are nicely placed in 9th, thanks to their fantastic start of the season, well out of the degregation spots, and so can concentrate on the Beker final on the 20 April.

Big win for Liverpool, 4-0 with the winning goal in the first minute. Spurs were missing Adebayor, they just didn't create enough up front - though they did manage to get behind Liverpool's defense a couple times and create the kinds of chances that Man City or Chelsea would have put away.

Everton are putting real pressure on Arsenal. Martinez might just accomplish what Moyes failed at and take Everton into the top four.

What a weekend.

Say it ain't so. Oh Gods of Football I implore you, for Shinji's sake* don't let Gerrard win a Premier League Champions medal - then there is our local curmudgeon, LB.

*Not the beverage.

Spurs could do with GBP 80m to 100m.

On Manchester United, happy to go with getting away with it and taking their chances - keep up the goal scoring.

Cheers,
OW

yer lucky spurs are *****! congrats though... ;)

The last time Liverpool thrashed Spurs they sacked their manager. Surely they can't afford to do it again?
Sadly the Sherwood story isn't gaining any momentum, ie it was a complete fabrication, or (for conspiracy theorists) the team has closed ranks.

I'm beginning to come round to the idea that Liverpool might actually win this thing. I'll tell you how I feel about this if/when it happens ;)

^ It sounded a bit too sensational to be true. But nevertheless Sherwood's days are numbered.

I've had to watch Gary Neville win a hatful - so I won't feel sorry for you, nope, not at all. ;)

Sherwood will be gone in the summer, and if Spurs can hold on to their talent they have most of the raw materials for a top four side. Daniel Levy should sack himself though.

I was perusing some Spurs forums today and was surprised at the smallish but very vocal support for Redknapp I'm seeing. People are looking back at Redknapp's years with nostalgia?

i think so. which forums were you perusing?

Whatever came up in Google. tottenhamhotspurs.tv, Planet Spurs, some others. To be fair it seems like most Spurs fans are not big Redknapp fans, but there seems to be a vocal minority of big 'Arry supporters.

England's new Home & Away Kits for WC.

I like the simplicity of the design - but the tightness makes the England team look like skinny men wearing rugby jerseys.

Bayern did "loose" 3:3 against Hoffenheim (one of the weaker clubs). But they had Starke in the box instead of Neuer. I wonder, if there is a statistic, that counts in blocked goals (ok, yes there are these "on-target" statistics for every match, but I'd like a table where the teams are ranked with an equation that shows how much the kepper had an influence. But then again, it would be hard to differentiate goals that were hard to keep from those that were on target, but really easy to keep, in the statistic).

Update in Women's CL:

So I was wrong Birmingham City LFC made it, instead of Arsenal. :) (very close).

Also interesting, that the teams that got hammered in the first match did fairly better in the second matches.

See results (first match) / (second match):
4th final:

Tyresö FF - SV Neulengbach (8:1) / 0:0
ASD Torres Calcio - Turbine Potsdam (0:8) / 1:4
VfL Wolfsburg - FC Barcelona (3:0) / 2:0
Birmingham City - FC Arsenal (1:0) / 2:0

The second Wolfsburg match was boring, the Potsdam match was not. (Eurosport only airs the matches with German teams involved for free, the German league is also the only women's national league that is aired. They advertise it as the "strongest national league in the world", it is also that with the most equaly spread power through the teams, though some have more depth in the squad.) Since the two German teams will meet in the halffinal, I am glad I can see a bit of Birmingham or Tyresö (guess Tyressö is more likely) in the final then.

Halffinal is:
19./20.04.2014 Birmingham City - Tyresö FF
19./20.04.2014 Turbine Potsdam - VfL Wolfsburg

There seems to be more interest by the clubs in prestige and the future market importance and money that may be made with it in the future.
Wolfsburg is getting a new stadium. It will be for the women's 1st devision and the men's 2nd devision.
Also, last year Wolfsburg somehow managed to get some 1st league men players watch the women's CL plays at home, the DFB Pokal final of Wolfsburg against Potsdam 2013 was attended by Dieter Hecking (men's first devision coach) and the manager.
A fashion collection created by Berlin designer Susanne Wagner was made from old material under the aspect of sustainability and was presented during the halftime of the women's CL 4th final Wolfsburg-Barcelona by Naldo (men's 1st devision player at Wolfsburg, in case you don't know). You can view a pictures here (Naldo in the middle of two Wolfsburg-women's players) http://www.presseportal.de/pm/21573...fsburg-praesentiert-nachhaltige-merchandising

The project is called Wolfs-UP. Besides old trikots, fan-shop material, it was allowed to use sutainable cotton, which is not from Wolfsburg.
(Volkswagen, the sponsor, has a car model named UP, so that might play a role here, too. OFF-topic: Volkswagen had a deal two years ago with Suzuki, both would exchange technology, Suzuki went out of it, after VW had gained from Suzuki's Knowledge about small cars and was not willing to give Suzuki details about their motors, which was part of the cooperation contract. Sorry, I am saying this as a Suzuki-driver. So I am biased on that topic ;))

Moyes has, quite sensibly, parked the bus and so far the plan is working quite well. United should have scored, as a matter of fact. Bayern should also have scored, to be fair.

Bayern will expect to win in Germany but Moyes will be very happy so far. This game is playing out very much like the Crystal Palace v Chelsea match so far.

Why Wellbeck is trying to chip a 6ft 4in keeper I'll never know. Poor decision-making. Also Fellaini, complete a pass someday will you. Rooney again the best player on the pitch.

Especially in a game where Man Utd will probably not have very many chances. Fellaini is being savaged in the press over his first half performance. 0-0 would ultimately suit both teams for different reasons, but Guardiola will want to win this game and he has the squad to do it. Yet, as Crystal Palace proved against Chelsea (and as Chelsea proved against Barca not so long ago) sheer tenacity + luck might be all you need in the Champions League sometimes.

EDIT: Bayern actually look rather bored, and now Man Utd have scored off a corner. Will they wake up? Despite their clear inferiority in talent overall, Man Utd have some vastly experienced players and they are executing Moyes' plan.

Bayern now waking up. Classic late jog from a CM.

That Man Utd goal really lit a fire under Bayern's collective backsides. They were sleepwalking until they went behind.

EDIT: Bayern giving themselves all sorts of problems here. They'd better bring a different attitude to the Allianz Arena.

Last 4 English sides to go to the Allianz came back unbeaten. Good omen.

It also proves this Bayern side aren't quite as good as the Barca of 3yrs ago...yet. And that they'd have a tougher time if they were playing in the Premier League.

That said, credit to Vidic and Ferdinand. Imperious on the day.
