Bayern did it! (sorry, if all the names do tell you nothing :) )

They won the Women's league the first time (despite 39 years ago) the last day of the season, 2:0 against the 5th of the table. (having had a season of 17 wins and 5 draws). Though for my taste, the few matches I have seen, they played not attractively.
Wolfsburg failed to win against Frankfurt, the match ended 1:1.
Wolfsburg has an interesting statistic, too. They got only 4 goals in this season, 3 by Potsdam (4th) and 1 by Frankfurt (3rd). Wolfsburg is also only 1 point short of Bayern.
Wolfsburg suffered from a lot of injuries, but found good replacements, though.

Wolfsburg won the triple two seasons ago and a double (league-Meisterschaft and CL) last season. Only won the DFB-Pokal (winner out of all leagues) this year. (Frankfurt had the DFB-Pokal last year).

First time for Bayern's women to be in the CL next season. Frankfurt who is 3rd in the league, will be present in the CL (besides Wolfsburg), if they manage to win against PSG in the finale on may, 14th. Also, next year will be the first time Potsdam will not take part in the CL. Could be that Bayern will overtake its position in the league in the short term. Potsdam's coach (a very old man), who is comparable to Felix Magath (a lot of physical and running training as well as discipline), will resign after next season. He also uses psychological tricks from time to time. This year's DFB-Pokal he put a wing defender as wing striker, to early get on the nerves of Wolfsburg, the match was in Cologne and he decided to take the 2nd goal-keeper because she was born in Cologne and a regular attendant of the stadium for matches of the 1.FC Köln (Cologne) men .

Bayern's Rummenigge said that both teams, women and men, will celebrate together on the balcony in Munich.

did they do it by buying up their rivals best players like they do in the mens league?

MSV Duisberg would have the best badge i bet...

did they do it by buying up their rivals best players like they do in the mens league?
5 players from their second team, 4 of which they got from other regional youth clubs.
The rest are/were upcoming national team players. They got bought, after they did several appearances in U-world-cup-teams (Italy, US, Norway, Germany, Japan). Other players got bought from lower table teams, when their teams went up a few ranks in the last season.
Interestingly they also bought 3 players from Austrian youth clubs and integrated them into their second team first, one national-team player under them. (Austria was no power in women's football, until they qualified the first time for the Algrave cup last year and SV Neulengbach qualified for the 1/8 final of the CL, twice (but got knocked out).

They don't buy from "expensive" rivals, despite a good club gets insolvent and looses its 1st league license (Tyresö FF, 2nd of 1st swedish league. SV 07 Bad Neuenahr, always mid of the 1st german league, till 2013). They don't buy from their direct rivals, probably because they still have less money than them (especially than Frankfurt and Wolfsburg).

Wolfsburg and Frankfurt use to canibalize Potsdam. Potsdam looses good home grown players every season and gets new from the sports school again (only to be bought again). Hence Potsdam's coach once joked: "I'm fine, if they have use for our old players" (well, this doesn't reflect the truth, of course). Wolfsburg though has some more players from their own youth than Frankfurt (Frankfurt had famous players from their own youth in their past, until they started to buy from international/EU-teams and direct rivals, Duisburg at the time). Wolfsburg does minor buying from international/EU-teams. Frankfurt was leading till 2008 and after that buying decisions seemed to not work out that well.

It is a zebra. :D
(did you mean "Drive Under Influence of alcohole and drugs" = DUIsburg?)

The MSV Duisburg ("the Zebras") is actually the former FCR 2001 Duisburg ("the Lions"). They got insolvent 2014 (after having been 2nd in the 1st league several times, but had not financial success) and MSV bought their license.

Isn't it quite interesting, that a lot of teams got insolvent in 2013 and 2014, when media interest/coverage got more?

they go down to the championship:rolleyes:

Liverpool should have won today, 2 class strikers and they will be danger next season

Carlos Danger!

I read that due to some financial problems, they would be passed down to 5th division/Conference premier, but apparently that's not the case then, hence my question. ;)

Ah, OK, I sometimes misinterpret "would"+"bet" in English wrong. I somehow took it as "I assume it could be that..., if..." or "I assume it perhaps has the..., judging from..." (and there was some info about Duisburg that had made you imagine how their badge would probably look like) :)

Where do you know the badges from? (Since e.g. Duisburg isn't internationally known via the men's 1st league, since they are 3rd league. Assuming that people from other countries will most likely know the men's 1st league, when they know German clubs.) :)

I actually don't know, which one I like best, but the Duisburg badge, is actually really cool. I agree!
Freiburg's reminds me a bit of a shield of a knight. :)

Speaking of Freiburg, that was one of the ascending middle rank teams, where Bayern actually ripped out an important player, when they bought Melanie Leupolz who was at that time starting to become an important young player in the national team (as a substitute for an injured, now is a regular) and Freiburg had a better season, including two good DFB-Pokal attendances (well that was starting in 2013, actually). See her score at 14:10 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNpynxWAJ2g . Bayern also took the captain of the swiss national team from Freiburg (though I do actually not remember her form the two Freiburg DFB-Pokal matches I saw.). Bayern will get another Freiburg player, that plays for the German national team, when season 2015/16 begins.

Being a Harry Redknapp team, they spent way beyond their means and have breached Financial Fair Play rules and face a £40m fine

There was rumour of them not paying the fine and subsequent rumours that if that was the case, they'd be relegated to the Conference:
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/sep/09/queens-park-rangers-football-league-ffp

I believe the outcome will more likely be that they'll negotiate the fine to be lower than the £40m and simply pay it

No, no! My bad! :) (I should/could have understood, if I had read it a bit slower. ;) )

Cool you know all the badges.
Btw. the kit in the link is the new official 2015 World Cup kit of the national team. Looks quiet conservative, but I like it. A bit 70ies like, simple, just added with the little sharp V at the neck and a tiny bit of red. Looks better for my taste than the 2014 men's at home kit with the big coloured bar on the chest, that reminds me of a famous chocolate-rice-cracker (of the 90ies) here in Germany.

not buying it. juventus cheated big time. there was supposed to be 2 more penalties for real madrid. james did not dive, vidal did elbow James...is the copa america here yet?

Well that was a surprise last night, to me RM just coasted after that penalty, and you do that at your peril against an Italian team.

It's going to be an interesting final.
