Arsenal are a bunch of spoilsports...;)

Didn't see the match but my Arsenal-supporting friend is livid about an alleged Vardy dive. A draw would have suited Leicester but Arsenal really needed to win this one to keep their title challenge going.

Villa are making it easy for Liverpool.

Watched the second half of Ars-Lei, gotta admit I'm rooting for Arsenal because of Özil. Great spirit (goes for both) and the equalizer was played out very nicely. Still amazed about the easy mistakes that Arsenal players repeatedly do (Oxlade! Chambers! Merte had some bad calls too) though..

Anyway, wanted to say that there is a new US talent in town (Dortmund): Christian Pulisic. 17yo that plays with the first team since winter break. Guess we will see some really good stuff in some years.

In the "Barcelona are in another class" news category, Messi provided an assist to Suarez...on a penalty kick! The goal gave Suarez a hat trick during a 6-1 win over Celta Vigo.

Incredibly cheeky, if any other team did that it would be seen as unacceptable showboating.

A bad weekend for Manchester, a very good weekend for London. Leicester lost but only just, I think they can take comfort that they are still in the lead, have the fewest matches left to play of any of the contenders, and their fixture list is relatively easy.

Where Liverpool finishes in the table depends largely on two factors:
  1. Will Sturrudge ever get a consistent run of games between injuries?
  2. Will Benteke ever find his form?

You saw that? Just read about it and it does sound way more complicated than just straight up shooting - but I wanna see that. All in all I think it does sound cheeky, but I rather see a move like that instead of those slow-mo-is-he-stopping-?-no-he-isn't shooting-styles.

Bayern lost poor Badstuber again due an hefty injury. Open secret that this guy's bones aren't made for pro-sports. Poor lad. Admirable the spirit to fight back when more in rehab than on the pitch in the last, what, 4years or so, but somewhat I have the feeling this guy will have serious problems with his legs all his life if he continues like that - if he hasn't ruined them already. Since he basically earned more than he'll ever need I'm not sure I'd be cheering him back on pitch.

Some are speculating that the amount of injuries in Munich might be connected to the 2014 installed hybrid-grass pitch.
Artificial grass usually comes with more injuries but it was thought that the modern hybrid pitches with it's small amount of artificial grass don't have the same injury creating properties.

In the coming summer break the pitch is up for replacement anyway and will be replaced with a full natural pitch again.

Didn't know that. Interesting! Bayern have lots of injuries since about two years so that timeframe fits...

But regardless, Badstuber is super injury prone. He's got great talent otherwise he'd be filtered out long, long ago since those super injury prone (= due "bad genes" / not the right type of body structure for professional sports) players normally don't make it into the A-level. Some friends of mine had already 3-4 knee operations during school time (!), just one bad move and it was over, super athletes btw, was hard to understand back then since I did the same and never came remotely into that territory. Bad luck I guess.

just read a little more and apperantly they are only replacing all the training pitches. The grass in the stadium won't be replaced (yet ;) )

Sebastian Deisler also comes to mind. Robben, Van Persie etc.
Badstuber sure is one of the most talented german defenders of his generation. Partly because of his background as a defensive midfielder his opening & passing play is simply faboulus.
Boateng is quite the opposite ... he wasn't a stand out player in his early career and was often considered a "limited player" but through hard work and great coaching he truly turned into world class. 6 years ago i would had called that crazy.

On the other side there are players who, considering the amount of games they play, are/were hardly ever injured. Lahm, Müller,Lewandowski, Messi, Maldini

And Zanetti obviously has been replaced by a cyborg at age 20

Sound like an ideal transfer target for Arsenal!

Btw

:D

Helmut Faeder did that for Hertha Berlin back in the 60s. I think it's cool, but ridiculous fail when not working :D

Cruyff did it too apparently, so it's ok!

aw. "video disabled by owner" ... ahhh still on youtube though. that was dumb.
[doublepost=1455538606][/doublepost]ok. trying to locate our fantasy footy thread for this season, anyone seen it lately?

Luis Suarez is another example. Gets kicked every match but almost never gets hurt. It's a combination of genetics, training methods, fitness, and luck.

Joel Matip transfers to Pool btw. Good signing, man really got talent. Flew mostly under the radar for the majority but good call. Not your AAA defender but still better than everybody you got right now. Need still at least one more defender I'd say though.

The God of Football continues to vindicate Moyes

So Moyes' points aren't for this season?

---

1st 10 games; MU = 20 pts, MC = 22 pts, Ars =22 pts,

2nd 10; MU = 13 pts, MC = 17 pts, Ars = 20 pts,

Last 6; MU = 8 pts, MC = 8 pts, Ars = 9 pts.

The damage being within the 2nd set of 10 - at the moment; of course the next game should see Arsenal add another 3 points to the gap.

Arsenal v Leicester City; the ref was garbage for both teams - the penalty was out of the Fabregas/Young play book, the sending off was soft, Coquelin escaped a second yellow, Sanchez not booked, Drinkwater?

The ref in the late game exchanged any tackle goes for a new definition of handball.

Fantasy Football - started looking at the table. :)

Cheers,
OW
