HAHAHA... that is sad, but really funny if you think about it. I can see his players saying something to the effect, do not scare him, do not startle him, do not sneak up on him, and please do not yell at him!:D:D
If memory serves me, he actually retired after coaching in 2005 but then K-State started struggling and they begged him to come back which he did and turned around the team.

Yikes!!!! Well hopefully he really likes what he is doing. There are some folks who don't want to give it up their job and will work till they can't physically or mentally do it anymore.

Me, I would have been long gone and enjoying myself!

If I could retire, I would.

Odd that you said it, because basically that was asked of him after winning last week and he basically said that he's able to help kids, giving them self confidence, discipline and a purpose. Basically he's not doing it for the wins but helping young kids improve themselves - kind of cool if you ask me.

That is very cool and noble given today's environment of winning and getting big pay checks.

I don't think that Nick Saban will go to the NFL. He's at the pinnacle of college football, and it would be hard for him to duplicate this level of success there. There's also a dimension of coaching that he would have to give up. Despite what you think about his rants and perfectionism, Saban gets genuine satisfaction from teaching his players how to work as a team and approach life. That's something that would be much harder to do in pro ball, working with players who earn millions of dollars and feel entitled to say or do whatever they want.

A more likely scenario when Saban is done at Alabama would be broadcasting. He knows the nuances of the game very well and would do a good job at ESPN or another network.

Agreed. I think he will stay at Alabama until he retires.

Totally agree with that. I think he genuinely enjoys orchestrating the progression of high school kids to elite college athletes and young men.

If only he would decide to do that some place other than T-town. :p

You think so? I'm having a hard time picturing him in broadcasting. I guess it's his disdain for the media, he comes off as very mechanical and snarky. I felt that way even when he was in Baton Rouge.

I agree with this also, however I would want to see him out of "character". Just like Payton Manning, he really didn't have a personality when it came to interviews, but we have seen when he is not being interviewed about a game or something similar he can be pretty funny. I wonder if this holds true for Saban? I mean we have seen him smile once or twice. No literally once or twice! :D

I'll give him credit for one smile. That's all I've seen and that was a picture! :D

You might be right, if he ever puts "the process" aside, maybe we'll see some type of personality underneath :)

I know that Saban comes across as hating the press — he certainly doesn't tolerate what he considers stupid questions. As the saying goes, he doesn't suffer fools gladly. But his demeanor changes when he speaks about character, and I've seen him smile and be sentimental. That's a side of him that doesn't show often. I think that he'd be much mellower in the broadcast booth, and his deep knowledge of the game would make him a great analyst.

Holy cow! What a great championship game. Congrats to Clemson!

Thank God Alabama lost. They're ruining college football.

Congrats to Clemson for not giving up and winning in the last few seconds.

I know that there are many Bama haters who think that their run is over. But even though they're losing some great players, especially on defense, they have a lot of guys who will take their place. So they'll probably be in the mix again next year.

QB will be a big question. Jalen Hurts' passing didn't improve through the season, it got worse, especially going downfield. He either overthrows the receiver, throws the ball too low to catch, or doesn't see targets who are wide open. I don't know how much this will be remediable in the off-season, but if it's not, Tua Tagovailoa will give him at least as much competition for the job as Barnett did.

I didn't really see the game, I got home so late from karate last and I was pretty much exhausted I basically went straight to bed.

Congrats on Clemson, I was rooting less for Ala, because of them pushing Kiffen out of the OC position. I'm not saying that was to blame, but I just didn't like the move.

lol. most people blame kiffin. he's an ******* ya know.

Last night proved and that Jalen Hurts is not a very good QB outside of his scrambling ability. Other than that TD run late in the game, Clemson did to Hurts what they did to JT Barrett and by doing so severely crippled Alabama's offense. Also consider that Sarkisian called a ****** game, Alabama's defense had to play lights out (which I still expected them to do) but at the end, they got gassed because the offense was severely inefficient. Alabama had Ridley and Stewart and both were non-factors.

Congrats to Clemson though and I'm glad Dabo was able to win one.

I think he's a genius as an OC, but as a head coach he was a jerk. I wonder if he matured and learned his lessons working for Saban. He was the youngest HC when he was with the Raiders, and then jumping over to college, he really didn't have the opportunity to mature. If immaturity led to his mistakes he may have hope.

His personality is killing him.
