Be worse when there are 48 teams for them. Especially as it will be in the middle of our football season. Still not sure how that will work.
 
Well, England lose by two goals to nil, - thereby finishing fourth not third in the tournament, a result they would have been thrilled with before the competition started.

However, this was a match that Belgium clearly deserved to win.

Didn't bother watching opted for the Nadal/Djokovic epic instead and the Ladies Final.

England were never going to win. The team has promise but still needs work. Priority is finding a ball-playing midfielder which is why i think Wilshere should've been on the plane.

As it stands, too one dimensional. Its long ball into Sterling/Lingaard or set-piece and pray. No midfield creativity.

for me, i follow: football, baseball and pro bodybuilding, thats it.
Football and bodybuilding is year round and baseball is just in the summer time.

I watched (but between fingers held in front of eyes) and also kept a simultaneous eye on the tennis, the men's semi-final and the women's final; I had hoped to see Serena Williams victorious, - want a fantastic player and amazing role model - but, alas, was not to be.

I would have been surprised had England won - Belgium were clearly the better team for most of the match and converted their chances into goals, and thoroughly deserved their win.

Nevertheless, this is still a very impressive achievement - both in the fact of having finished fourth, and in the manner in which they did so - their conduct off and on the pitch was something to be proud of - for such a young team.
 
Realized WC is over for me already before the final, for this time.
Have no interest in any of the teams in the final.
It's not the 1st time that happen either for that matter.

May best team win ;)
I have other things to do that inspire me a lot more :cool:
 
OTOH, placing 4th still isn't bad for England, considering it's been a long time since they'd gotten this close. Here's to France losing and giving Croatia, a small country, a victory. I'd love to see it happen. I'm hoping it happens.

Honestly, even Russia deserve an applause. Don't think I've ever seen them play as they did during this Cup. I take pleasure knowing Neymar went ballistic when Brazil were kicked out. And then threw himself into a lockers set and asked a ref to book the lockers.

The early departure of almost all of the egos and narcissists and drama divas was one of the hidden pleasures of this World Cup.
