I believe so. Blooming ego stroking if you ask me. When I do well at work I don't get a hug from my colleagues (thankfully!)

Agreed.

He is a brilliant (and fiercely competitive) player, but his attitude, at times, is very trying.

He has made clear his marked preference to depart from Arsenal since last year, and has not been anything like his best (though still better, unfortunately, than most of his team mates) this season, although his interventions have been vital on more than few occasions.

Reminds me of Payet last year. Drop him like a stone.

I'm sure! I do think your going to miss your two strikers though. No offence to Everton, but they are hardly the hardest team your going to come up against.
Still three points is three points. Apparently the goals were good.

Yes, the goals were good, and it is always good when players other than designated strikers remember where the goal posts are and feel sufficiently confident to be able to seek to score.

Paradoxically, the loss of their strikers served to spur some of United's other players to lay claim to the right to wish to score goals and contest the match a bit more ambitiously.

As always, Jordan Pickford was excellent; without him, it is conceivable that the score line would have looked a lot worse for Everton.

Six big points for Liverpool over the past two days. I expected four at best especially after seeing today's team sheet, which had 1-1 draw written all over it. The irony of Lovran and Klavan combining to put in the winner has not been lost on the media. Good to see Mané score a quality goal, he was always going to be under pressure to perform today with Firmino, Coutinho and Salah not starting.

And Lallana is back. He looked pretty good and will be a valuable asset going forward.

Big Sam typically rolls over for Mourinho: 11 matches played against Mou, no wins, three draws, and eight losses. That's 0.27 points per match, whereas he managed 0.5 points per match over 20 matches against Ferg.

EDIT:

Mou has a big pop at Paul Scholes after today's win. I really do think Third Season Mourinho has arrived early.

What an embittered and ungenerous human being.

Instead of focussing on his team, and savouring the impressive victory against Everton, it is sour grapes all the way with José Mourinho.

Third Season Mourinho making an early appearance, indeed. Yes, I agree.

What an unpleasant man. He wins ugly, he loses ugly, he draws ugly.

Meh he's just protecting himself/players the only way he knows how. And tbf Scholes can be rather...savage.

I'm not condoning btw just saying...

If that is 'the only way he knows' after a career in management spanning countries and decades, it is a pretty poor show. Time he learned something else, because he is being outclassed as manager, footballing strategist and tactician, and human being, by his (mostly younger) peers.

To my mind, the pettiness and gracelessness and sheer nastiness he indulges in so frequently do him and the teams he manages (not to mention their supporters) a massive disservice - frankly, they deserve better.

I think he finds it hard to accept that he is no longer the 'wunderkind' of modern management, feted by fans and adored by the media.

Mourinho's distraction tactics worked a lot better 14 years ago, when his MO was new to the English press. But over the last decade plus, I think people have cottoned on to his tricks and now constantly call him out on it - which just makes him more bitter and prone to searching for scapegoats.

Like certain politicians I won't bother to name, Mourinho is clearly obsessed with his own self-image, reads the headlines, gets his nose out of joint about punditry, and goes on the attack. Sometimes it does have the effect of shielding his squad from criticism or attention, but all too often it just makes him look like a nasty little so-and-so who can't stand to lose and never admits to making a mistake.

Hear, hear. And well said.

I should add that Scholes could indeed be talking complete nonsense. Pundits are known to do that often enough - especially pundits who are ex-players.

I rarely agree with Mourinho, but I can't argue with his opinion that: "Scholes will be in history as a phenomenal player. Not as a pundit."

But even if Scholes' "analysis" is malarky, Mourinho didn't do himself any favors in the way he responded.

Not what I was hoping for. A goal down :(
[doublepost=1514927178][/doublepost]Right back in it from the big guy, Andy Carroll. Not scored since April apparently.
Hope we can go on and get the winner.

Actually, I would love to see Rashford and/or Martial play more up front instead of out on the flanks. Martial's first touch let him down at times against Everton, but did take his goal very nicely.

Lingard's strike was really something. Wish he'd learn how to pass out of a break instead of just blazing forward with his head down, ran into trouble with a full head of steam too many times when he could have laid the ball off to Martial in space.

Pogba looked a lot more effective playing further up the pitch. Shaw has looked pretty good lately, might have just done enough in the nick of time to save his career at United and fill that glaring hole at LB.

Yes, Everton is a bit depleted right now, but it's never an easy away match. Pickford indeed did well.
