Chelsea are certainly in a slump. With Man Utd plodding along steadily in second place - out of the title picture but still defensively solid and with a bazillion Euros worth of attacking talent and thus safe from falling out of the top four - the battle for 3rd and 4th continues to be interesting. I feel like Spurs and Liverpool seem the strongest candidates at the moment, but it would be foolish to count out Arsenal now that they've discarded Sanchez, and if Conte gets sacked anything could happen with Chelsea.

Patrick Evra to West Ham looks like it's going through. Not sure a 36 year old is going to help much though. We need some younger guys in there. They are all pretty much 30+ at the back.

Not sure I completely understand what you are "just saying".

I just started reading David Goldblatt's immense The Ball is Round, and somewhere in the introduction he argues that football is the closest thing there is to a human cultural universal. Phenomena like marriage or death rituals are everywhere, but exist in in seemingly infinite variations. Football, on the other hand, is nearly the same worldwide. It is more of a common language than any spoken or written language. You can put 22 individuals on a pitch who speak 22 different languages and they can still play a wonderfully fluent game of football.

Sounds like Chelsea verses Man City!

UP THE OWLS!!

Big London derby today. Hope we can beat and overtake Watford today.

Oh and the race for 4/5th with Arsenal V Spurs.

Meanwhile Man City have the satisfaction of knowing they might not have got their man in January, but he's not lining up against them either.
So in other words, win win.

Seeing as I feel as if a truck ran me over, despite a lengthy 'nap' I might only watch a half hour to fifty minutes before going to bed.

Sounds like a fit again Arnautovic is the difference for us, although it's Hernandez with the goal.
We really need the three points today to keep a cushion between us and the trap door. 30 odd minutes to go.
Come on you Irons!

[doublepost=1518281737][/doublepost]A great win from the boys. Arnautovic gets the second goal after soaking up a lot of pressure from Watford. We now join them on 30 points. Starting to feel a little safer (although it's pretty tight).
But as I often say, if we can call on our best players we do ok. When your best players are out, the guys that come in aren't really good enough.
True for lots of the clubs at the wrong end of the table.

Huddersfield have given themselves a huge shot in the arm in their relegation fight.
4-1 winners over Bournemouth. Newcastle, Stoke and West Brom must be gutted.

Realistically I don't think West Brom will escape. But the other two positions are undecided.

A rare clean sheet win for Liveprool. Southampton looked flat, especially in the second half, probably because Liverpool have stolen all their best players for years.

Liverpool have now nearly caught up with Man Utd, who really need to look over their shoulders now - though with Chelsea slumping badly and Arsenal continuing to struggle, I'd have to think a top four finish is still likely for Mourinho.

UP THE OWLS!!

That was a bit of a six pointer, really. And, looking at the table, Sunderland look to be in pretty deep trouble now.

Huge win for Newcastle against Manchester United.

Will give them a huge boost in their battle to stay up.

Nice to see Rafa get one over on Mou - and with a vastly inferior team as well. Man Utd were poor today, though they probably created enough chances to win.

I'd prefer to see Newcastle get relegated - not because I dislike Newcastle, or their fans, or Rafa - but they really need to get rid of Mike Ashley. That man is vile.
