The idea of great whites is good! I have to remember that one.
Here's the photo I used!

Pure grit. Bayern were both silly and wasteful. Real on the other hand ruthless and resilient. Modric, Navas, Ramos swung the tie.

Totally agree! Everything you said was spot on, other then I would add Varane to that. Modric has been so huge for us. Without him, we wouldn’t have made it through. He played defense, control the ball, and had a ton of key passes.

I'm surprised you'd say that as an Arsenal fan. The Arsenal faithful around me loath Bayern.

Bayern were the better team footballing wise but Real simply got the job done.

People are saying Liverpool have nothing to fear because of their front 3 against the Real defense which is true to some extent. But Real are in the final for a reason. And Roma an inferior team still scored 2 goals at Anfield.

Games aren't always won on paper.

Asked PSG how that front 3 went against Real’s defense. I would argue with Neymar they are a far better front 3. Mind you, Salah might have had the best year of anyone, I would still take PSG’s front 3 any day.

I'm an Arsenal fan, but I don't necessarily blindly absorb the cluster of clan preferences - or prejudices - that are sometimes supposed to accompany that.

Bayern was the better team in both matches. Their ineffectiveness at scoring at the moment (grrr) plus that horrendous mistake by Ulreich last night and Rafinha last week sealed the defeat.

Gah, I am a little bummed out. Bayern was on fire last night. Both teams were great though and it was one heck of an excellent game that was super fun to watch.

Congratulations to Real Madrid.

As I really like Jürgen Klopp and am learning to enjoy Liverpool, I'm going to root for them in the final!

No!! Not Liverpool lol. But really they have to make it first. It won’t be easy in Rome tonight.

I am more of a Mauricio Pochettino fan. I was kind of hoping Zidane got sacked and Real got Pochettino. I think he is an amazing coach.

Actually, I like Mauricio Pochettino, as well; and will admit to a soft spot for Pep Guardiola. Antonio Conte impressed last year - the strategic and tactical battles of these managerial "big beasts" is something I have been fascinated by, over the past two seasons.

I have already written about how I have long admired - and greatly respected - Arsène Wenger, but, yes, his time at Arsenal has passed.

In fact, about the only manager in the Premiership that I cannot abide is José Mourinho.

Totally agree! I love Pep at Man City, but was not such a fan when he was at Barca of course. He is a great coach, and like you said it’s a lot of fun watching these guys do battle. I never been a fan of Mourinho either. I didn’t like him at Real, and I sure don’t like him at Man U. Next year should be interesting.

Navas’ performance in the last 15 minutes was totally excellent. Much as I would have preferred Bayern to make it to the final, he and Modric (and Varane) won it for me.

Ramos and Casimero are two players that have impact, but in “dirtier” ways that don’t sit well for me. Ramos was flopping around during the same 15 minutes, running the clock down and Casimero always knows how to get in a professional foul or two.

Yeah without Navas we would not be in the final. I am also with you on Ramos. Although, he is one of my favorite Madrid players, he does flop a lot. I wish he would just stay up, and play defense. That would have helped us a lot more.

I'm also not keen on Sam 'backhander' Alladice either. Greedy man and his style of football is dull.

Indeed. Do you think Pep will come?

To where?

Chelsea - and, obviously - Arsenal will have vacant spots this summer, and Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that he does not expect to stay at Spurs forever.

Last season, Pep was on a steep learning curve, and, if I remember some of the coverage rightly, he was criticised for not having done better. But he watched, studied, thought and learned, and crafted a response to the circumstances in which he found himself with the tools (playing staff and support staff) to hand.

I'm not sure what will suffice to offer him a challenge next year, given that he has won the Premiership in such swashbuckling style this year.
