Just read about Benitez. (Been a bit distracted).

Bit of a shock as I thought with the potential new buyer in the wings, he was going to take the money and build a solid top 6 side.

Good luck to him in whatever he does next.

The ownership change is still just talk. More than just a rumor, but obviously not yet a reality either. Benitez doesn't have time to wait for that to play out. Ashley would have forced him to work with scraps for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately, Ashley will force anyone who is recruited to replace Benitez (who did exceedingly well in rather trying circumstances) to work with scraps for both the foreseeable and indefinite future while contriving to give the impression that he has promised the moon. This is his modus operandi.

He is a vast greedy troll of a man. I'd like to say the sooner Newcastle are rid of him the better, but if they instead fall into the arms of a middle eastern potentate, it's out of the frying pan into the fire, at least from a moral standpoint.

Agree Ashley doesn’t seem like a nice guy.

You do wonder how one would fail the premier leagues assessment to own a club.

Seems we have a number of less than desirable owners.

The "Fit and Proper Persons" test is a very barebones set of criteria for weeding out undesirable owners, and it is clear that it isn't doing a very good job.

Agree completely with what you have written in this post.

And your remarks in earlier posts about judging managers and - in that context - examining Pep's record while observing that he has worked with unlimited budgets and resources and the best players money can buy (while forging and crafting them superbly into a functioning and formidable unit as a team) and asking how would he be ranked, or regarded, as a manager, had he had to ply his trade at a club such as Southampton (or Newcastle), - for example - where things weren't perfect and one spent much of the season fighting for survival and safety - is a fair and very valid one.

Success can be measured in a number of ways.

AC Milan "has agreed" to a one year ban from the UEFA Europe League, for breaching the Financial Fair Play rules, and Roma takes their place (with Torino entering the qualifying rounds).

Meanwhile Manchester City, PSG and others are preparing for another season of Champions League football...

Big day for USA and France as the (arguably) two best teams in the tournament face off...the French have home field advantage, so if USA are going to be champions this is one of those days where they will be required to show their mettle.

Milan got away with murder there...a one year ban from a competition most clubs & fans are lukewarm about anyway in exchange for violating FFP for four years or so. They mostly got away with this because the club was sold and UEFA are reluctant to punish a new owner.

No justice, though. An absolute farce.

Work. We do some work for the PL that involves us checking the kits at the start of each season.

Thanks for explaining, care to posts a pic?

I’m a newbie to posting in this part of the forum, and I’m a Manchester United fan. The less said about this the better imo lol

I only took this one of the best kit in the boxes! (Edited to cut out one of my colleagues).

Had all this seasons Premier League strips in my car today. Had to put down the seats. There were an awful lot of them.
3 kits plus the goalkeepers kit for each team.

They are ready, already?

Any horrors?

And why three - I get the home and away stuff, but what is the third one for?

Oh. You work for Umbro?

Why would you think that?

There is always a third strip. For example when we play Burnley our home kit is similar to their sky blue away kit and claret home kit. Their third kit is dark green. Ours is dark blue.

I always find all keepers shirts pretty hideous.

No. We don't manufacture the kits. Just test them.

Ah, that makes total sense.

(I still remember Manchester United's grotesque grey - which they changed at half time - and which Sir Alex blamed for a singularly underwhelming performance one Saturday around two decades ago).

Agree that most of the goalkeeper's kits are awful - hideous, in fact; I suppose that the florescent look is designed and intended to make them stand out and be conspicuously visible.

But, I think that I preferred the old black that goalkeeper's used to sport. More elegant somehow.

I didn't mind the muted green of yesteryear. I seem to recall a hideous David Seamen England shirt.

Big result for the USA and thankfully the match was NOT decided on a VAR call. Rapinoe is my tournament hero and I really hope she can take USA all the way. The French played well but never looked truly comfortable; I counted at least four or five occasions when they passed the ball straight out of play. They also seemed a little lacking in the finishing department.

USA faced a lot of questions over the quality of their defending and while defending is not their strongest attribute, I think they have answered a lot of the critics by only allowing two goals in the tournament thus far.

I didn't expect Germany to go out at this stage; Sweden were worthy winners though.
