I'm supporting West Ham today. If they beat Watford they should feel pretty good about staying up and won't have to come out with all guns blazing against United in their next league match.

Win tonight and we are safe. A draw tonight and the two teams below us will need two wins even if we get no more points.
Lose tonight and it’s going to be a very nervy match against you and Villa.

Leeds United are officially coming back to the Prem next season.

They're bitter historical rivals and Bielsa is a very good manager, so there should be some entertaining matches against them.

Indeed. First bit of business after securing our safety is to sign Soucek on a permanent deal. I’d stick Antonio on a better contract to!

Secure that goal of yours first, padlock the defence, & then, secure the match, & then, will follow those three invaluable points.

And then, and only then, should you plan to secure the services of those whom you need to secure......

They have been a different team since the restart. Especially the aforementioned two above. They are the in form players in the league at the moment.

Agreed.

Actually, I think that the lengthy break was unexpectedly helpful for those teams with squads that lacked strength in depth. Their injured players had sufficient time to recover, while the reminder of their squads managed to have a proper rest.

Funny think is Anderson, Heller and Snodgrass who are usually three of our best players have hardly featured since the restart due to injuries.

Well, then, we may be back to Dr Johnson, with his wonderful quote, when he said: "“Depend upon it, sir, when a man knows he is to be hanged in a fortnight, it concentrates his mind wonderfully.”

I'm pretty sure that you'll manage that; but, Watford are also fighting for safety, & for their footballing lives, hence, they, too, will be very motivated.
I feel for Watford as they have Man City and Arsenal to play. Two tough matches. Of course Bournemouth and Villa still have to win for any of this to matter.

But I'm assuming nothing for us in our next game (Man U) and my nightmare scenario was us needing a point against Villa on the last day. Set up for getting a draw and losing! We are better going forward than defending.

I still think Bournemouth are toast...they are showing nothing they would need to stay up. Even if Watford stink the place out in the next match they are probably still safe. And West Ham even more so.

Remember, all you need to do to avoid relegation is be the fourth worst team. And Watford are probably that.

They do have some tough games though. Personally I think Watford will just pull through though.
But it’s now up to Villa or Bournemouth to go and try and save themselves.

West Ham are now 15th in the table, with Brighton, at 16th, just below them, & Watford, still 17th, below them, again.

As @Lord Blackadder has observed, to stay up, to avoid relegation, all you need is to be the fourth worst team.

Leaving goal difference aside, Watford have drawn matches ten times, which suggests that they are that bit more difficult to defeat than the teams lying immediately beneath them in the table.
