@Lord Blackadder - Forgive my hypocrisy.

I love the MLS format. :p

GO CREW!

A perfect Group Stage start for the Crew, with three wins from three. However injuries have taken out one of our two starting center backs, our starting keeper, and one of our more promising midfielders. Just when results are looking rosy I fear we are going to be depleted though injury. We will see if the bench can step up. Atlanta were not a good side, so it's hard to say what are prospects look like going forward. The defense has looked very solid though.

As for the format...I liked it in principle, it's basically the World Cup in miniature. However, the group stage "draw" was the most faked, corrupt draw I have ever seen in the sport. Pretty much every single group pairs derby rivals? Really? My, what a coincidence!!! It's almost as if MLS is desperate to generate some narrative and bring viewers in so the league doesn't go bankrupt!!!! And hardly anyone is talking about it.

Thoroughly looking forward to the final day of the Championship tonight. 11/12 games have something riding on them. Will it be Fulham, Brentford or WBA who get promoted? And there are still 6 teams who could get relegated tonight, and that's before Wigan & Sheffield Wednesday's possible points deductions!

Penalty to West Ham....right at the stroke of half time too. They have hung in this game better than I would have expected. OGS will need to figure out where Ferg left the hair dryer when he retired...

I doubt that OGS would think to use the hair dryer, that is not his character or temperament; but, a cold Nordic blast might suffice instead.

The only reason Man Utd are playing with 11 is because Mark Noble did not throw himself to the ground when Fernandes directed one of those halfhearted footballer headbutts at him. This is why players dive, unfortunately.

Man Utd came out improved in the second half and got their equalizer almost immediately, but West Ham did not wilt and a draw would be a fair result here.

So, the final Champions League place is still up for grabs. Leicester almost certainly need to beat Man Utd to get in, while Man Utd can afford to draw that match. Given how difficult they are to beat, they are almost a lock. Chelsea can afford to lose to Liverpool today as long as they can beat Wolves on Sunday.

My guess would be those three teams finish in their current positions (3) Man Utd (4) Chelsea (5 ) Leicester.

And the relegation battle really goes down to the wire. Even Bournemouth could theoretically escape...

Well done; you must be pleased with the result & on the fact that West Ham have secured their spot in the Premiership for the coming season.
Thanks. The team have been completely different since the shut down.

Certainly tight at the bottom. Glad we are out of it!

Video conferencing with my Liverpool friends while watching their match with Chelsea, of course, repartee comments abound!
Sorry if we cost you the CL spot!

Liverpool came out swinging, but Chelsea did nick a goal. At least it isn't a boring match...

EDIT: Trent is in lethal form today. Bobby Firmino scores his first goal at Anfield this season...4-1.

Villa & Watford. Who's going to survive...?
More than likely, Villa, no? Unless Watford win, and score loads of goals...

On paper Villa have a less daunting final match, as long as Arsenal don't get all Arsenal-y again as they did against Villa and roll over for Watford. It could go right to the end of both matches.

I was being facetious.

I'm only happy because we're winning.

How badly hurt is Mahktar ?

I've heard they are still evaluating it but the word is muscle strain - possibly not too serious. Far more worrying is that starting keeper Eloy Room is out for "at least several games." Columbus have been excellent in this tournament and have had rotten luck with injuries.
Good grief; 5-3 to Liverpool (against Chelsea); what a match.

Liverpool wanted that win today, and despite some more late-season sloppiness (and some pretty slick play from Chelsea), they did the business.

Pulisic looked like the real deal today. A wonderful performance from a rising American star. I am absolutely heartbroken that a player who is so crucial to team USA's hopes, one who I enjoy watching and root for every time he plays, has to play in a Chelsea shirt.

On current form I don’t think there is anything in it. Just depends on who wants it more on the day.

For the neutral it was a very entertaining game.
