Watching the Brighton/Portsmouth match, not too exciting so far, hopefully, the second half will be better.

Brighton won 4-0, they play better in the second half against a tired Portsmouth team.
I have a bit of a soft spot for Brighton, but as a Saints fan just can't help but enjoy the fact that Pompey got smashed.
It's not so much about the rivalry, but the vitriol that is so often spouted by their fans online that makes me unsympathetic to their plight. They seem to have a quite toxic culture at Portsmouth, which isn't evident at Brighton, Saints, Bournemouth or other southern clubs...with that said, it's true for many other clubs across England though. Millwall is one that springs to mind.

Brentford is a better team than Fulham IMHO — they just blew it at the crucial moments that would have seen them promoted. I'd be surprised if Fulham finished higher than 19th.
I saw some late-season matches of Brentford and agree - they were a good side and probably close to being Premier League quality. They played nice football and had an attacking mindset that's hard to defend against.
I'd like to think Fulham will do better than 19th, but fear you're probably right.

Remember when Pompey were good - like, knocking Man Utd out of the FA cup and going on to win it? The Kanu years. Though that era practically bankrupted the club.

The prodigal son has returned after 7 years. He may be past his best at 31 but it is not all about his skills it is about the hope he brings to the club. I still watch the You Tube videos 'taxi for Maicon' arguably the best full back in the world at that time. Totally dismantled.

If you follow football I don't even need to say his name or the club I support.

Indeed.

But, given "his" problems with (reciprocated, needless to say) his former manager, do you think that "his" new manager, a man notorious for dramatic departures, bridge burning, negativity, poisonous relationships with fans, toxic relationships with the teams that answer to him, and whatever board is in charge, a man who himself is no longer the "bright young thing" he was when he first arrived in London almost two decades ago with a bottomless budget at his disposal, - do you think that "he" (the player under discussion) and "him" - that manager - will work well together?

...and yet Mourinho is now complaining that he has "too many players." (!)

Good to finally see some new material from him.

You may be right but I think both player and coach have changed in the last decade. Besides this is the Football Premier League it is about hero's and dreams.

You would not give Glenn Hoddle a place in the first eleven on a rainy Monday night in the mud. On a sunny Saturday afternoon when he produced that magic it was awesome. Hero's. We all need them and Spurs favourite son just came home.

For the second week in a row we have a late Saturday kick off. This week we face Arsenal. I'm not very hopeful.

Come on you Irons!

Kane pretty much any time he scores, Son that goal against Chelsea and the run and goal against Burnley. Hero's.

Mo Sala at Liverpool and Sane. We all need hero's. Who will be the hero today West Ham vs Arsenal???

Inter Milan. It could not have gone worse. Three down and goalkeeper sent off. Then he stepped up, as truly great players often do. Rubbish for most of the season but then something special happens out of nowhere. Taxi for Maicon anyone?

van de Beek scored for Man Utd, but Wilf Zaha and Crystal Palace had one of those days where they click. Also a lesser-spotted and Andros Townsend goal. Odd performance from Man Utd, who were quite solid at the back last season. Maguire's head may be elsewhere...and why was Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the bench?

Leeds looked like they had the game well in hand leading 4-1, but Fulham has made a match of it now, 4-3.

Can every Leeds match please be a 4-3? Best scoreline in football. Leeds are on course to score 152 goals this season.
