A good win for Leeds in stoppage time puts some breathing space between them and the relegation zone.
However a draw for Newcastle and Norwich probably did neither of them a favour. They both need to be picking up wins. Nobody wants to be bottom at Christmas.

I don’t know how I feel about the newcastle result. We really had to win that game, at the same time I don’t know if we would have got a point from it under Bruce.
Aside from Clark who can be fired in to the sun the rest of the team gave it a really good go and I can’t ask for much more than that.

Just watched the highlights of England women, just 5 minutes of them scoring 20 goals against Latvia. Latvia looked an absolute **** show. I know the skill disparity is huge but amateur doesn’t seem to describe it well enough.

They should invoke some sort of mercy rule.

I feel positive about the way the team has played under Howe. The squad put in a solid shift after Clark absolutely destroyed any previous game plan. Joelinton looks like a new man and has played well in our last two matches.

Women's football still has more lopsided matchups due to the greater variation in the quality of teams. FIFA just needs to be more careful about structuring qualifying so that teams play opponents at a similar level. There is just no point in having Latvia face England.

It's an odd situation, because Newcastle are rock bottom and while we assume the new owners are going to spend big it might come too late to save the season. From Howe's perspective it's kind of a free hit, but at the same time I'm not sure he can really try to build anything yet.

England mens last game was 10-0. I don’t know how you fix this issue without excluding nations from qualifying which doesn’t sit right even if I think it needs to happen.

My Arsenal friends and I are already trading friendly jabs about our match tomorrow, hopefully it will be a good match.
I can't even summon the hypocrisy to write "may the best team win", for I want Arsenal to win, not least before Ralf Rangnick finaly arrives at Old Trafford (he has been delayed on account of the fact that his work visa has yet to be sorted out) and actually starts to put shape, focus, a collective identity and a detailed map on how to turn ambition into results for the Manchester United team.
I need you to do us a favour and beat them. Keep them behind us!

With luck, Manchester United may remain a little unsettled for just a few days longer.

It’s academic really. That late Brighton goal has hurt us.

Definitely not peak quality United vs Arsenal, but still an engaging match to watch. All the goals were down to individual mistakes or individual brilliance rather than top class team play. That Ronaldo, though — he's still got it. 801 goals scored playing at the highest levels of club and world football, pretty amazing stuff.

This match was Fred in a nutshell. Two errors that led to Arsenal goals, and two quality moments that led to assists for United goals. He is one amusing / frustrating dude.

Michael Carrick announced his departure from United immediately after the match. Barely had a moment to saver the win before having to bid him goodbye. He's handled this transition with admirable grace and dignity. If only Mike Phelan would also step aside with some dignity, that would be great.

The United/Arsenal game really annoyed me.
My FPL squad had an overhaul mid-week and I dropped Ronaldo - then he went and had a blinder!
So frustrating.
It goes to show that when the chips are down, some of that squad can play to their potential.

Sad to see Carrick depart - he's been a club stalwart, but it's understandable.
He'll show up as manager of a League One or Championship side next summer - guarantee it.

They all count. But we did you and City a massive favour this afternoon.
I remember Frankie Hejduk scoring by shanking a cross into the net like that for Columbus Crew once. I was in the stadium and it was glorious. And after the match Frankie refused to admit it was an accident, though he said it with a wink. ?

My Dad always tells a story where he had the ball on the half way line and had been getting the needle from an opposing player. He blasted the ball at him hoping to wake him with it. Totally missed him and scored! It was a cup game and it took the game into extra time. I think he enjoyed a few drinks out on that one. And (at the time) totally meant to score!

I just watched the replay of the Merseyside Derby and all four of Liverpool’s goals were superb. Right now Salah is scoring goals of pure genius (seventh in the ballon d’Or votes? Seventh?); Jota’s goal was also a tour de force of skill and Hendo’s shot finished a great move.
