Not sure I am that pleased with Englands group. I wanted us to have a proper challenge in the group phase otherwise we tend to be underprepared later on. I wanted ‘worst case scenario’ as the press put it.
I'm looking forward to another Rob Green moment when England meet USA. :)

Wales and Scotland (should they make it) will not be easy matches either. And if Ukraine make it they are a complete mystery given the geopolitical situation. They have some good players and could arrive massively motivated.

Brentford are hammering Chelsea 4-1, with Christian Eriksen in among the goals. What a day for Eriksen and the Bees - and with a dogfight behind them for CL spots, Chelsea need to be careful...they could get dragged into that battle if they keep dropping points.

THE MASSIVE WIN!!

UP to 5th now and looking strong for a solid playoff/promotion run!

2/3 agreed and wrong football thread ...

OOPS! Sorry @Lord Blackadder !

Were you there by chance?
No, I am hoping to make it to a match this season, but probably not till June at the earliest...

It was a tight match and while Nashville played well and were defensively tough as usual, Columbus were unlucky with Santos slipping on the turf in the buildup to Nashville's goal and also slightly unlucky to not finish their chances. On another day that could have gone a bit differently.

Oh well, onwards and upwards. Lots of season left.

Crystal Palace are a tough team to beat, so losing to them is not a disaster, but Arsenal did display some stereotypical Arsenan-ly defending in this defeat. After good run of results we can just call this a blip for now., but Arteta needs to make sure the Gunners keep their foot on the gas, Spurs are still very much in the hunt for fourth.

Good win for Liverpool tonight. Away from home to. Looks difficult for them not to go through.
Man City have a tougher second fixture, but none the less 1-0 up.
Now the more interesting game on Sunday to look forward to!

Benfica raised their game in the second half and will still be tough opponents in the second leg. But Liverpool came out strong and did what they had to do, even if they had to work for it.

The weekend's match does feel like a title decider, even though it is not.

So tonight’s game was a real six pointer. With Burnley winning (despite two penalties for Everton), they did themselves a huge favour in the relegation battle.
Everton fans must face up to the real prospect of Championship football.

The more I watch Darwin Nunez, the more I'm convinced he has what it takes to thrive at the highest levels. He is strong enough to match up against central defenders like Konate and VVD, pacy and skilled enough to beat a fullback, and generally appears to make good decisions. He was the only real threat for Benfica, and I expect he'll open some more eyes at the World Cup coming up.

Title decider or not, Sunday's Pool / City match is must-see TV.
