I'm looking forward to his next appearance here so that we can congratulate him.

I imagine that he must be ecstatically happy with this news.

phhhhhheeeeeeeeeewwww....

THE MASSIVE

Man. I was drained after that one. lol.
Thanks gang!

If I'm honest I'm pretty impressed with Barnsley. Down a man and they took us to extra time.

I did get excited when the red card came out. Thought for sure the floodgates would open and we'd win by three or four goals.
I'm glad Windass got the winner. Saw his dad in the stands and thought it would be great if he could score... then a lifetime later he did. lol.

UP THE OWLS!

Going to the THE MASSIVE's forum to see how many people still want us to get rid of Darren Moore, lol.

Wednesday will absolutely be my 'second team' next season, they created a great narrative and I'd love to see them make a splash in the top division.

Unquestionably among the best team names in football.

Also, you always need to have a few teams who wear stripes in any league. (I would also argue that the sash design is hugely underutilized, but that's another discussion).

Well done, and congrats once again; you must be absolutely delighted..

Anyway, welcome to the Championship and the very best of luck there; let us hope to see you promote again to the Premier League.

What % chance do we give Chelsea’s new manager seeing out his two year contract?
50/50?
That question is evil.

And funny.

While I think that Mauricio Pochettino is an excellent manager (and I still think that Spurs shouldn't have sacked him when they did), I am not so sure that he is such a good fit for the dysfunctional delight that is the current (bloated) Chelsea team.

No manager is good enough for Chelsea unless they win the double or treble each year.
In the current climate that is going to be impossible.

Agreed.

And that is what is so funny.

For, given everything that has happened - the obscene salaries and transfer prices, the bloated squads, the sportswashing, the lack of ethics - along with the fact that Chelsea spent over £600 million (I stifle an unseemly snigger just thinking about this stratospheric sum) and have nothing whatsoever to show for it by way of triumphs or trophies this season - it is somehow reassuring to receive such a stark lesson letting us know that money cannot buy everything all of the time. Most of the time, yes, alas, but, thankfully, not all of the time.

Some sort of cosmic karma. And very, very funny.

Watching a bit of Dortmund's collapse in highlight form...

...The depressing thing is, looking at Dortmund's body language, I feel that Bayern Munich have now simply cowed the rest of the league, permanently. Teams like Dortmund look traumatized, afraid...everyone just expects Bayern to win, including all the players on every opposing team. They've mentally beaten everyone before a ball is even kicked.

It was the most depressing title win circumstance I've ever seen. Even Bayern fans should have the decency to turn their backs on this one. Eleven years now. There will soon be teenagers in Germany who have never seen another team win a title.

Union Berlin qualifying for the Champions League is a great story though.

Just eleven? Don't they have a playing roster (albeit mostly loaned out around the world) of about 600?
Of course, you are absolutely correct.

The numbers of .......adjectives almost fail me....the number of players at Chelsea that fit this description almost certainly exceed eleven.

Actually, I read that the squad - not the team - is so bloated that they cannot all fit in the one - doubtless well appointed - dressing room.

Could have been under different circumstance.

I love visiting The Emirates.

Last time we went to London, my wife booked an AirBNB that was very, very coincidentally down the block from the Emirates. The time we were there, Arsenal was away to Villa, so we didn't get to take in the match day crowd — we instead stopped into a local pub and watched part of that match.

EL final is on now, I couldn't care less who wins that one.

It's 1-1 at 95mins but all I am reading is how appalling the behaviour has been both on the pitch and on the touchline.
Not sure if it's just the anti-Jose brigade or if it's actually poor form, but either way - I am not watching it as it's on the one streaming platform I don't subscribe to here in NZ.

Another example of why Mourinho isn't my cup of tea

Harassing officials in the car park. Because his team was rightly booked for their ridiculous tactics.

Appalling behaviour.

Actually, I cannot abide Jose Mourinho.

It is a very long time - almost two decades - since he burst into the Premier League when appointed as manager of Chelsea having been a breath of fresh air with Porto.

Since then, his conduct appears to have become ever more toxic with each fresh appointment, while any vision he ever brought to the game has long since become obsolete.

Yeah, I was never happy that Mourinho ever managed United. His pattern of initial achievements followed by an epochal meltdown was all too predictable.

Speaking of the Chelsea to United pipeline: Mason Mount. Too much smoke for there not to be fire there, and I’m underwhelmed considering the other high priority nerds they need to address in this window. United need another 6 or 8 more than a 10 like Mount, but Bruno also can’t play every minute, and perhaps ETH has some other ideas how to line them up. He is a pretty good footballer with a great work rate, so I’m sure he will be a positive addition. The price tag is the other big question.

In ETH I trust. Right?

It would seem - or, it has been reported - that "terms" have been agreed between Manchester United and Mason Mount.

Yes, I agree that the amount of smoke is considerable - and, given the size of their bloated squad, Chelsea will need to off-load, sell, or otherwise persuade some of their players to ply their trade elsewhere next season, - and I strongly suspect that there is something to it.

However, obviously, he is not actually going anywhere until the transfer window finally opens.

I see the usual has started to happen with regards to transfers, ever player and their dog is being linked to Man United so the price of the player can increase. 'oh look, United after after him, he must be a good player then if United want him, lets increase his value'.

Manchester United aren't the football force they used to be, or they once were under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, - even if their "brand" does have a global reach.

This (gossip about transfers, inflated prices and so on) is not driven by Manchester United, but by football commentators who no longer have anything much to write about - yet must still fill pages, and airtime - now that the season has, to a large extent, finished.

Now, while the rumours of the future movement of Mason Mount to Manchester United very likely have some substance, no actual transfer will be possible until the transfer wondow opens.

For domestic transfers, - that is, being able to sign a player currently based in the domestic (UK) leagues, - this will occur on June 14. For international transfers, - in other words, the international transfer window - which means being allowed to buy players who are based abroad, and to sell to clubs that ply their trade elsewhere beyond UK shores - the transfer window will open on the 1st of July. Both windows will slam shut at the beginning of September, that is, to be precise, (11.00 p.m.) 23.00 UK time (24.00 CET) on the 1st of September.
