....

I don't see Arsenal beating City (home and away) now frankly. And if anything, Utd might be the ones who make it interesting.
But Arsenal will get their original aim...top 4.
I imagine that the return of Gabriel Jesus may make a difference to our season.

Having said that, we are still at the top of the table, and have had an exceptionally good season so far, bearing in mind that we have led almost from the start of the season.

Haaland looks set to miss the match against Arsenal after picking up a knock against Villa. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing from Arsenal's perspective is a great question, as city is a much more fluid team without Haaland leading the line.

Speaking of city, I had to laugh that a huge banner appeared at the Etihad today touting their... lawyer. Was that some sort of astroturfed PR move by the club's ownership, or are their fans really that pathetic?

They've got the biggest lawyer in the Football Leeeeeeeeaaaague... Oh, city are a massive club!

I read a comment from an Arsenal fan on a youtube channel showing the goals and basically the comment said that if a team has to rely on VAR decisions to win a game then the club is not good enough in the first place.

Merseyside derby has come alive.
Great goal on the counterattack from Salah. Everton hit the post and came so close to taking the lead and then from nowhere the ball was at Darwin Nunez's feet and they were storming up the other end. Beautiful layoff for Salah to knock it past a very out-of-position Pickford.

Liverpool looking far more "Liverpooly" than they have for some time.
They've been stringing passes together and looking dangerous. Been a while since anyone has seen that from them, to be fair.
Everton haven't been terrible. They haven't been great either.

Their fans are clearly just as delusional as their manager.

It feels great to pick up a win in the derby ahead of next week’s deflating loss against NouveauRicheCastle.

Soton set to appoint Marsch, which likely means they’re going down. He will also face Leeds in his second game I think.

But if he manages to keep them up then good on him.

meh!

Had our foots on their throats and we let them up.
You did, We were ABSOLUTELY AWFUL from the penalty save until Smith's awful attempt to round Walton to make it 3-0.

Once Broadhead scored the free kick out of nowhere we suddenly shot into life. We were brilliant after that until the 70th minute when the substitutions for both teams really killed the game.

It's going to be play-offs for us. You'll win the league easily.

I have to say, the thought of Marsch, who was sacked for lack of performance, joining Saints feels like another really bad move.
If we are relegated as a result, there need to be some serious questions asked of the board as to how they got us in this state.
To appoint Jones was a bad enough gamble at a time when we had time and points aplenty on offer, but to double down on a terrible appointment and then to sack him at least a couple of weeks too late and replace him with a proven loser?
Sorry - I just can't agree with this approach at all.
There are good managers out there, but having been taken to the brink now, I think most would run for the hills.

wow, the announcer's son could have been starting goalkeeper for today instead of Neuer.
cool
PSG vs Bayern
are the spurs on paramount too?

I don't think any manager would have succeeded in Marsch's position....take Leeds' squad and try to win in the Premier League playing Bielsa-style football? After sacking Bielsa? I doubt Guardiola would have done much better, although he would certainly have been much more of a diva about it.

The appointment of Marsch appears to be at least in part motivated by the Red Bull-Hasenhüttl connections...but of course if what they are after is a successful pressing approach Jones was also a manager who favored pressing and it didn't work out.

It's a tough job anyway, however you slice it. Southampton's squad may just not be up to the task of survival, regardless of who's at the helm. That's the fault of the owners more than anyone else.

Not Liverpool for cherry picking their best players for the last 10 years? I'm sure they were the Liverpool feeder club at one point.

We lost many of our best players on that direction, but at that point, we had a rigid pay structure and a very talented group of players. We were consistently finishing in the top 8 and playing lovely football on a budget. It was always going to happen. Then we stopped developing talent at our academy and the rest is history.

It sems clear that Southampton will not, now, appoint Jesse Marsch, after talkes - about the length of his proposed contract appear to have broken down.

That is a very impoerant point; Southampton had developed some superb players (VVD was an obvious example) and were obliged to sell them, quite often, yes, to Liverpool.

I didn't realise that the Academy no longer developed players.

Big one tonight. Title decider?
Not necessarily; too soon for that, and Manchester City have been less confident and sure-footed this season than they have been for the past few seasons.

Having said that, it appears that Thomas Partey will not be playing, as he is injured (yes, yet again).

This is a serious loss for us, - Partey is an excellent player - and remember, Gabriel Jesus, is still out with the injury he sustained during the World Cup.

However, this is the first time that mentor (Pep Guardiola) and mentee (Mikel Arteta) will meet in a serious contest (for Arsenal were not in a position to challenge Manchester City's dominant position until now).

I think the charges against City have galvanised them as a team somewhat. As in everyone is against us.

Halland trained today, so he maybe available.
