With that said, Arsenal have some quality to come back into the side and they don't have to play Man de Haaland again this season.
If they don't get shaken by this loss, they can come back to form and go on to win the league.
This game and the current struggle, shouldn't define them.
They aren't out of it, to be sure.

But Man City are going to be the title favorites every season as long as the deputy prime minister of the UAE keeps the money taps running.

We play City again on 26th Apr.

On 29th Apr we play Chelsea.

On 6th May we play NewCastle.

We need to win win win before the above back to back games against three top teams.

Huh...I combed the fixture lists and didn't see another game against Citeh for the Gunners.
I feel suitably chastised.

By then we can but hope that Gabriel Jesus (and for that matter, Thomas Partey, - who makes at least as mch of a difference to the performance of the team) will have been restored to us.

I’d love for Arsenal to win the league. But the fact is Man City have two title-winning-quality XIs in their squad; Arsenal have one. Hard to compete with that.
Too true, alas.

They aren't out of it, to be sure.

They will remain title favourites until other wealthy sovereign nation funds, their patrons, and the sovereign nations in question, will invest in - or buy outright - some other clubs (such as Manchester United), when title races, unfortunately, will more than probably become the preserve of clubs that are owned by wealthy sovereign nations who are interested in the expression of soft power via sports-washing.

A shame I missed the Europa League clash between Barca and United yesterday. Sounded like a real corker! It's a sign of real progress that I'm a bit disappointed they came away from the Non Camp with a draw, but they should be better positioned at OT next week with Sabitzer and Lisandro available again, while Barca be missing some key players.

I'm actually nervous about the Leicester game this weekend: they're on red hot scoring form, and Casemiro is unavailable. Hopefully United can score more!

I’d be more nervous about who your new owners would be……

Lee Mason has left PGMOL as a result of his error in the Arsenal match.

The amount of hate he received was pretty revolting. I don't know why anyone bothers being a ref. We don't even deserve the ones we have. But then again why should I be surprised at radio show callers, radio show hosts, certain 'pundits', managers, and players having extreme, knee-jerk reactions to events in the game?

At the end of the day people need to take a breath, wipe the foam from their mouths, and remember that VAR is not some magical technology...it's the same refs they used to abuse, just now sitting behind a screen watching replays and making calls with some simple computerized aids. Sometimes they get it wrong. Just like how sometimes players make howlers or managers get their tactics fouled up. You don't have to like it, but all the self-righteous anger and borderline sadistic calls for punishment is as unseemly as it is misplaced.

I understand Arteta's anger - it will be excruciating if Man City cop a title due in part to this error - but I think in future years he will not see his reaction to this as one of his best moments.

I think most 'get over' poor referee decisions after a blow over, and if its a case of interpretation vs black and white decisions.

Brooks for example is already back on duty tomorrow.

Lee Mason's situation however was untenable and indefensible. Plus he had developed a reputation for getting things wrong.

He reminds me of Mike Dean in that both simply developed a reputation that brought the referring body into further disrepute.

SWFC & Vardy, the one that got away... smh

Mistakes do happen, and Arsenal had benefitted from a few (ever so slightly dodgy) decisions that went their way (our way) earlier in the season.

However, the sustained abuse - enabled by the environment of the online world and social media platforms - is agreed, both misplaced and unseemly.

Personally, I think that the level and degree of the abuse is inexcusable; it is not as though Arsenal were the better team on the night.

Agreed, if Manchester City squeak to the title at Arsenal's expense by a point or two, yes, that would be both lamentable and unfortunate, but, having said that, to argue that these are the points that will (or would have) cost us the title - in light of our current less than stellar form, when we have dropped points over the course of a number of games - strikes me as special pleading.

The Qatari bid is the only one known to have been submitted so far. I should probably steel myself for the inevitable here.

Not your finest hour, if it goes through, and this is something that will serve to make Manchester a disagreeable place from a football perspective.

The abuse was excessive and inexcusable, and - however some criticism may have been justified - I think that we potested too much, perhaps as much to mask our dip in form - from ourselves as much as anyone else - as to find justifiable fault by pointing the finger at an official who is fallible and human.
No more Oil Money taunts by United fans directed towards City fans if Qatari takeover goes through ??

Just asking for a friend.
That is a fair point.

Though, in actual fact, Qatar's wealth (and power) derive from the export of gas, rather than oil..

It is amazing how rapidly the experience of following Arsenal has reverted to the sort of agonising experience it has been for the past few years.

Gnaw nails time.

Again.

Villa lead by two goals to one.

If you do lose I’d be worrying about the other Manchester club. Your form of late is not good. You need Jesus back soon.

Our recent form is not good at all, and that this is now developing into a habit

We have one excellent team, one potential title-winning XI, as @Lord Blackadder has already pointed out, not two: We did manage to lead the table for half the season, which is no mean achievement - but we lack strength in depth, and this is becoming more pronounced the longer the season progresses.

And yes, we most certainly do need Gabriel Jesus back in the team.

Quite candidly, I am surprised (and more than a little relieved) that his absence hadn't begun to cost us points (and games) until relatively recently; I had hoped that we would have been able to mitigate his absence for longer.

We need both Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey.

Whatever about the absence of Gabriel Jesus - which, while significant, (very significant, with each and every decent scoring opportunity spurned by Nketiah, among others), I would argue that the absence of Thomas Partey is of equal importance; Arsenal are rarely defeated when Partey plays.
