Watching the England game. Latvia’s striker missed a sitter. Apparently their number 9 hasn’t scored for club or country since August. That’s about as prolific as I am in front of goal.
Still it’s still 0-0 at the 27 minute stage.
I do find it hard following England outside of the two big tournaments. The qualifiers do often just feel like friendlies. It’s almost impossible to read anything in to these games. They’re utter dross.
We need a new format for qualification.
There needs to be some kind of seeding where only teams likely to qualify compete against each other and then have promotion and relegation.
Latvia and Albania are never going to qualify for the World Cup and playing 11 men behind the ball against England, Italy or France is no good for anyone.
I know it’s our own fault for getting relegated in the nations league but outside of tournaments it’s been a grim few years as an England fan.
I think we’ve only lost something like 2 WC qualifiers this century.

That said our lack of ideas when playing against a poor side who put 11 men behind the ball is frustrating to say the least.
That’s basically me as well. If I’m in and free I’ll watch the qualifying, but only if it suits. These days, in international football, I don't follow the qualifiers at all; to my mind, they are a time wasting (and money generating) waste of time, and rarely offer football of any quality, let alone any genuine competition.
Now, the actual tournaments are quite different (although the final itself will almost always and invariably disappoint unless one has an emotional investment in the outcome).
I was hoping nobody saw that! That EPL bottom three now looks nailed on after that Wolves result
Well, given that Wolves are now twelve points ahead of, or, clear of, the bottom three, and given that Ipswich have only won three games all season, while Leicester have only won four games all season - and to even make up that gap, let alone surge ahead of Wolves, while assuming that Wolves will fail to acquire a single point more for the rest of the season, - would require both teams (I will not even mention Southampton, who are a further eight points - the best part of three victories - behind both Leicester and Ipswich) to win at least four games, which is a task that I think is well beyond them. That EPL bottom three now looks nailed on after that Wolves result

Not necessarily, although, unfortunately, it does seem that the gap - in skills, resources, depth of squad - between the Premier League and the Championship is growing ever wider. It’s been nailed on since August really.
Agreed. However this seasons success story, Forrest shows that teams can still come up, establish themselves and challenge for Europe. Otherwise it would be a very sad state of affairs. Not necessarily, although, unfortunately, it does seem that the gap - in skills, resources, depth of squad - between the Premier League and the Championship is growing ever wider.
I do think it regrettable that all three promoted clubs are - not for the first time - about to face relegation; a little turnover in the membership of the Premier League - rather than this pronounced state of increasing inequality - would - to my mind - be far better for the League.

Tbh he has been a shadow of his former self recently. Yes he can still conjure up a moment of magic, but he’s no longer able to do it for 90 minutes or 40 games a season.KDB will leave City at the end of the season. After Pep opted against extending his contract.

seems to me that he could be the most productive player these past 10 (or even more) years. An outstanding player, who has been superb (and extraordinarily successful) during his time with City.
If memory serves, he has had some serious injuries in recent years - it's hard to come back fully from that - and, moreover, he is not getting any younger, which means that he is lacking the rapid recovery (and resilience) of youth, and when this is combined with (ageing) legs that lack the power and sheer velocity of earlier years, it means that his form, inevitably, will suffer.
Nevertheless, a classy, and intelligent footballer, and someone who has given great service to City.
To be fair didn't he rest a few key players for the CL game in the week?Arsenal stutter their way to a one all draw with Everton.
While their (our) defence is generally excellent - second best in the league in terms of goals conceded - this is the (our) eleventh draw of this season.
At this rate, we will be doing well to complete the season still retaining our current spot in second place.
Hopefully Unai rests "himself" today at Villa Park for Wed match in Parc des Princes. To be fair didn't he rest a few key players for the CL game in the week?
