I know nearly all of you said you do not go in for buying your clubs football top but I notice many teams have changed their kits this season. If your teams kit has been changed what do you think of it?

My team Gillingham FC have released there new seasons kit. I like the blue the most. The black looks very similar to Man United's black away kit from 1993 (minus all the logos it looks near identical).

Nowadays, teams change their kits - all three of them - each season.

To the best of my knowledge, not all of them have been released yet for the new season, thus, it is too early to offer a definitive opinion.

Re Arsenal, from what I have seen (source being online fanzines, if what they suggest will be the respective kits, are actually confirmed), all three kits look considerably better than what we have seen the team attired in, and take to the field wearing, over the course of several recent seasons.

I think they keep them two seasons to be honest. So mostly it’s the away kit or the home kit that gets changed each year.

All the Premier League kits will be at work next month. 3 x kits for the outfield. 2 x kits for the GK’s. 2 x kits for the referees.
318 items in all to be catalogued, measured and returned! That takes a while.

As far as I know, (yes, greed, obviously) all three of Arsenal's kits are scheduled to change (as they did last year).

The days of the same kit worn even for two consecutive years by Premier League teams, is long past, I'm afraid.

Gosh.

Yes, I can well imagine that it does.

Brentford still stick to a two year cycle. So not all as greedy as some apparently.

Black for me.

If I had the money for it, I'd get a new WEDNESDAY kit every year.

Man City played yesterday in the CWC and it got me thinking, with the hearing against City concluded by the premier league, why haven't we heard the findings. So I did an internet search and there is a credible reason that comes up and that is FIFA has asked the premier league to withhold it's findings until after the CWC because FIFA does not want anything to take the focus away from the CWC and a guilty verdict against City would most certainly take the focus away from the CWC because everyone would be writing articles about City.

Obviously there is no truth to this but considering a number of news outlets reported before the CWC that the case against City had been concluded and the only thing remaining was the findings of the case and as it happens the premier league has not published it's findings, it does lend credible weight that FIFA has asked the premier league to hold off publishing the findings.

Once the CWC is finished, for those in the UK the next major game is the FA charity shield so it will be interesting to see if the English FA will do the same with regards to the FA charity shield, no wanting the charity shield to be overshadowed by the premier leagues findings.

The CWC finishes on 13th July and the FA charity shield game is on 10th August, 28 days later. The premier league season starts 1 week after the charity shield. We all know the premier league findings will causes a media news frenzy which could last for weeks on end so will the premier league release it's findings in the 28 day window between the end of the CWC and the FA charity shield game or will they release it after the charity shield game because critics will say it will be unfair towards City if the premier league all ready having the decision on the charges releases it mid way during the season because the critics argue that it would be more fair on City if they know before the start of the season if they are going to get any points deductions rather than being hit with any mid way through the season.

So if true I understand why the CWC would be concerned. I mean it’s got such little interest that any negative news story about it would not be good.

However I don’t think the FA will care about the Charity Shield being overshadowed. My guess is an announcement after the tin pot invitational cup is over.

Then an appeal by City and another 12 months of nothing.

Agreed.

This would seem to me - as well - to be the most likely outcome.

To address the queries raised by @laptech, I am in complete agreement with @Apple fanboy and concur with his reasoning: If any findings re the charges against City are to be promulgated, or published, it will be after the CWC, but before the Charity Shield, after which I would expect an appeal on the part of City.

In itself, - as a competition - the Charity Shield does not mean much, except that it represents the formal opening of the Premier League season.

An awful lot of rubbish - in the form of click bait, baseless rumours, mad headlines, and pure hot air, all in order to generate interest, circulation and responses - is being written about (potential) transfers now that the second summer transfer window has opened.

While a number of teams have indeed agreed transfers (both in and out), I would imagine that most are waiting for the formal opening of the new (football) financial year, which is scheduled to take place on 1st July, before they make any formal announcements (even if everything has been already agreed), which would allow them to lodge, or place, or record, any transfer as taking place during the coming football financial year, rather than the current one.

Somebody on a teams fan channel mentioned that about the new financial year. They said that clubs who are close to hitting financial fair play rules will wait until the start of July for the new financial year where they would be able to sign off on transfers in the new financial year rather that pile it on to the end of the previous financial year. It is a sneaky way of balancing the books, put all transfers into the new financial year to make your account books look good.

But it is also the time where we see the football media try to link every player to Arsenal, United, Chelsea and Newcastle, not understanding that United cannot afford 99% of the players being mentioned. Maybe they do and as you point out, it's done for click bait reasons.

I wouldn't describe this as "sneaky".

rather, I would take the view that this is an indication of financial good practice, - clubs that either go bankrupt, or are heavily penalised for breaches of FFP are testing for supporters - and a very welcome (and overdue) sign that the authorities (and clubs) are taking the FFP rules seriously and insisting that clubs adhere to these FFP rules.

Well, yes.

The CWC has not been getting much interest in Europe (I'm being nice) but in South America (and probably other Continents) the thing is on fire.
If you read Spanish or particularly Portuguese (Brazil) it's impossible to avoid it.

I sense the large presence of premier league American team owners has pushed/influenced this idea

This is very common in US sports but never so in UK football. I can see players and managers not liking this regardless if their American owners do.

Money has ruined football and now it would seem American team owner ship is making it even worse.

I hate this type of thing.

They always grab coaches, American football, right as halftime is either starting or ending and ask the stupidest questions.

oh dear, Man City once the pride of the premier league and English football are out of the CWC getting beaten by Saudi side Al-Hilal 4-3. City fielded a very strong team and yet got beaten by a team that is in a league very few people give credit too. I am sure there will not be many people feeling sad at their loss.

Mic'ing up game officials is probably a good thing because when a player mouths off an official and the official cards them for it or ejects them from the game the players the majority of the time deny they said anything bad towards the official and when it goes higher, there is no proof and thus the players get away with it. Not this time if the officials are mic'd up.

I don’t mind having a mic on an official but going to a coach mid-play and asking for their opinion on the game is a bit different.

I agree. Coaches should be able to focus on the game and not be worried/distracted by someone from the media but I suppose when you take billions of $$$/£££ from the devil, the devil can do whatever it wants.

I do not know how it works in other countries but in the UK, the countries TV broadcasters have the power to get football games moved because it best suits the companies viewing figures or they can get games removed from pre-approved viewing schedules and replaced with another game because it suits the companies viewing figures which inconveniences football teams a lot but when these TV companies pay billions of £££ for the rights to show the games, they make sure they have the power to do as they please.
