Difference in class ultimately worked in Arsenal's favour.

Gabriel lucky with the 'foul'. Should be 2-2 and might have made things interesting

But ultimately Arsenal were better.

Two goals for Gyokeres and two goals for Eze is a nice confidence builder. And even though City have a game in hand, if Arsenal have already won that game it is a game that City must win to stay in the race.

City has game in hand and the officials on their side. Later was pretty visible in their game against Newcastle.

As I have mentioned before in other goals, that second goal is once again pure Gyokeres.
He is a very physically imposing player, place the ball near or behind him and he will typically overpower most defenders.

Gotta give props to Senne Lammens. What a fantastic signing he's been for Man Utd. Having that solidity at the back has made such a big difference in the team. I shudder to think how many goals Onana or Bayinder would've leaked at Everton yesterday.

Yes, I watched the highlights. After the 3-1 home win for Bodo I thought Inter might make a fist and come back in the return leg, after all they made the Champions League final last year, but even in Milan they were defeated 2-1 by Bodo’s counterattacking play.

I think a lot of teams from lesser nations will be looking at this victory and trying to figure out how to duplicate it.
 
Yes, and Galatasaray beat Juventus 7-5 on aggregate over two legs to go through. Juventus needed to score three goals to level the tie in their home leg and did, sending the game to extra time, but then conceded two goals of their own, and the Turks advanced. Exciting stuff.

I'm not so sure. PSG and Bayern are not on fire but they have the capability and none of the English teams look invincible by any means. Real often look like a hot mess - and then come up big when a trophy is on the line. That's their entire identity - soulless, not greater than the sum of their expensive parts, but serial winners. Mbappe or Vinicius can often make something out of nothing.

But, in terms of sheer numbers, there are decent odds at least one English finalist. I'd be shocked to see Spurs or Newcastle survive this round though, and if Liverpool draw Atleti I'll be feeling grim, though Atleti are also struggling a bit.

A bit of a slanted draw for the Champins League Last 16.

6 potential winners (given the history) on the left (all but Galatasaray and Atlanta), with just Barcelona and Arsenal as favourites to win on the right... maybe someone can beat the odds!

Hopefully we can get Bodø Glimt vs. Arsenal in the next round. 🙂

Yes, that was my impression as well. Liverpool get to play Chelsea or PSG in the QF, if they avoid the Turkish banana skin. And are in the tougher half with Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

Arsenal have the easier path to the final, although I think it’s fair to say there are no easy ties at this level.

Arsenal really should be setting a final appearance as the required standard, now that they are on the easy half of the draw. Barca will be tough but Arsenal's superior defense is their biggest asset. And yes, I am writing off the other clubs. Atleti might just knock out Barca but if anything that makes Arsenal's life even easier in the semis.

Liverpool will have to overperform in a big, big way to reach the final or even the semis. It's possible in a knockout competition, but not likely. We should be able to beat Galatasaray. But PSG will probably knock us out unless something rather unexpected happens, and even if it does that's just an opportunity to get knocked out by even more irritating clubs in the semis.

I don't really care how it shakes out - my only hope, and it's a small one, is that the eventual winner is NOT Real or Man City.
