what was their explanation that they couldn't price match it? It states right in their policy that they do.

I got mine (i purchased it 3 days ago) price matched at best buy.

How do you get it price matched? I called Apple and they said they price match but they require the proof. I have no idea what I can take with me into the store to prove to them the price Micro Center is selling it for. Please help. I am thinking about getting a pro and the deal is only good till the 8th. Thanks.

We have a store in Denver, I can ride my scooter there...
Temps are in the 70's today so will be a nice ride...:D
Bob

I love that store! My friend lives within 10minutes of walking there. I live within 30 minutes of biking (maintaining a speed of ~17mph) there. I have bought tons of stuff there.

Has anyone successfully price-matched at Apple? I bought my MBP 11 days ago should I should still be good within the 14 day window. However, I think this is a mail-in rebate, will that count?

It's not a mail in rebate. That's the in store only price.

I am about 70 miles from the Philly MC. I bought a new (2007) mini there for $349+ sales tax. There are no gadget stores whatsoever in my area, and it's like a "NewEgg" only with everything on the shelf.

For some reason every trip, a man in a suit introduces himself as the store manager, shakes my hand and thanks me for shopping there. I'm impressed. Aside from sales tax on big items, I'm hooked:)

Had one in my cart for NE ohio but it went out of stock during the process. When does apple's back to school promo usually start.

I printed out the picture from the OP and i printed out the macbook pro inside my cart on microcenter.com.

MC is a great store. If you live near the store in northern New Jersey know that they only charge 50% of normal sales tax, i.e. 3.5%. I bought a MB from them for $799 (list was $999) and a 2010 MBP from them for $999. I actually sold the 13" on ebay for more than that when decided to move to a 2010 15" MBP.

Excellent store - fun to walk around.

Just called apple they say they will only match up to %10 which is $120

if your within the return period tell them if they don't match it you'll just return the item and go buy it at MC. Thats what i would do if they really wanted to be hard asses. Idk my bestbuy was a breeze to get price matched. i just walked in with my receipt and the copy of the ad.

The MC in my area (Overland Park, KS) has 10+ in inventory and also has an open box for $989.

just called best buy they will match and are holding it for me at 999. Thanks to the op and those that suggested best buy.

I bought a house and 2 weeks later it dropped $40k in value.

Do you think somebody will write me a check for $40k?

That's not a fair comparison because the value of the house is way higher than the value of the Macbook Pro. People are more likely to lose $200 to get you to keep spending your money there on items that will eventually need replaced than to give you $40,000 off an item that you may use for the rest of your life.

You would have to have a Micro Center retail store in the same geographical region as your best Buy per their policy. That may not be true for the poster.

Amazon may price match...

FWIW, back in December, I bought a 13" MBP from Amazon, found out about the Microcenter $999 deal, and was able to get them to price match the $999.
They may do it again. (It's useful for the 0% 12 month financing - if you can't get the Apple Barclaycard financing)

Worth it.

Why? Is this model really THAT much better?

Im thinking of going from a Macbook 5.1 2.4ghz Core2Duo machine to this.

BUT, am I really going to tell the difference?

Im not a programmer, designer and dont do anything that requires Raw CPU power.

When I look at it like that, the specs of my current machine dont seem much different to the latest 13' Pro (for my uses).

The only real thing tempting me is the idea of getting a new machine with a warranty for very little extra cost (ive already been offered $800 for my macbook). After all my current Macbook is almost 3 years old, so I'd kick myself if I missed this oppurtunity to trade in and then the logic board or something died next year.

Maybe I should just get the SSD and optibay that ive been planning on and then keep this machine for at least another year and go for my first Pro in 2012 when theyre hopefully completely re-designed.

Picked up the MacBook pro from best buy without a problem and even paid a little less than micro center because of lower tax rates. Just gave it to my wife for our five year anniversary and for being 8 months pregnant with our first child. She is very happy. This is our first Mac so now we need to get some software.

Hmmmm... that's right, I forgot that BB will price match MicroCenter. I was looking at the 15" only, but with this price match, I might get the wife a 13" also.

My last resort was to price match with Best Buy BUT I just read their policy:

What if the competitor does not have the item in stock or has limited quantities of the product?
Sometimes a retailer will advertise a very low price for a product but have only limited quantities in stock. If the item is out of stock or the competitor has limited quantities of an item, it is not eligible for price matching. Likewise, if Best Buy has a product that is advertised as being limited in quantity it will not be eligible for price matching.

My local Microcenter are all out of stock. Did anyone happened to successfully price match even with this issue?
