go get it Tiger! :)

Milo.com helped me track one down in a brick and mortar -- I actually installed their app and used it on my 4S. Just type in what product (e.g. iPhone 5) you're searching for and it'll search the inventories at *I believe* best buy, radio shack, and target. I wound up finding two phones in stock at a target 4 days after launch.

FYI, Radio Shack owns all the Target Mobile kiosks, so you might get some hits on Milo showing Radio Shack when it's really a target.

+1 on the sales reps having no idea what they're doing (I pretty much filled out all the entries in his computer for him), but it was worth the hour and a half it took to get the phones.

Went online and checked iphone 5 stock in my area. Radioshack showed two stores had it. I took off from work to go pick it up. As I walked up to the store I saw a sign in the window that said iPhone 5 in Stock - so I got excited.

Then I asked the guy for the phone and he said they have no iPhone 5's in stock and they haven't even fulfilled all of their preorders. I told him what it said online and he said sorry, they didn't have any.

Dang it!!!

Not sure what your point was, these guys don't spend 20 hours a day on macrumors, it's one among many products they sell.

My point was: Radio Shack stated something as FACT. I asked him twice. He said corporate Apple told corporate Radio Shack there will be no iphones til February. Anywhere.

Clearly not accurate. Kinda funny, in my humble opinion. Thus, the subject "The Amazing stories we hear". Could you imagine if it were true? No iphones til February?

I looked at the online inventory this morning as a whim after I saw someone mention it in a thread. All the while I was thinking RADIO SHACK, got to be kidding. Guess what? My local store had my 16GB White VZ iPhone in stock and it's sitting here right now doing it's restore. Yes Radio Shack.

I do not think I have ever found Radio Shack to be helpful...

They're as reliable as Home Depot workers. I ask where the the washers/gaskets for kitchen faucets are located, and they're trying to talk me into a whole new sink and faucet...

milo.com shows lots of Sprint ones in my community, but nothing else. And only 32GB.

Well if you are looking to Radioshack to substantiate FACT's then I suppose the internet is a good Oracle as well.

Radioshack, BB, Apple store employees receive different degrees of training, all of it inadequate.

They are likely not put in a position to succeed as the computer systems they use are not coordinated and don't allow them to extract information.

Central command doesn't have coordinated policies on pretty much anything.

And the employees do not have any skin in the game; they can tell you whatever they want without any repercussions, so they have no incentive to serve you. My impression is that most of them aren't that interested in working there; they are just there to collect a paycheck. Honestly, I probably wouldn't be all that interested to work there either.

The shining star employees would shine no matter where they worked. It has nothing to do with corporate policies. I've found that Apple employees are a bit better trained, and usually friendlier, but ultimately not significantly more helpful or different than the usual places.

"working retail" defined.
