Not a fan of it at all, seems uninspired and doesn't really suit the theme of iOS 8.

Not a big deal obviously just surprised Apple couldn't have been more creative with it.

I think its fine, but since I don't have the watch, I moved the app into my delivered folder where other inactive apps live.

I think its fine, but since I don't have the watch nor a compatible iPhone, I don't have to worry :p

I concur, it is ugly and not quite consistent.

the only other thought would be to have a front view of the square-ish/rectangle display and some strap...but then it might have a clock face and then people would want it to be in sync with the time but they already have that in the normal clock app so it seems the profile was the way to go...

And this will have to be another Apple-default Hidden App tucked away in a folder. just adding more kb/mb to my used space.

Yeah for me it's the black background, seems like the app logo is not finished.
The whole app is pointless tho anyway, syncing should be done in settings and the App Store should be in the , oh I don't know, App Store. Duh
It's a weird design decision but also brilliant advertisement.

Needless complication for the sake of advertising. I agree.

I quite like the icon, but it seems more suited to iOS6 than iOS8.

Agreed.

Hey, here's a real world thing on your screen!

Makes me feel like it should have the green felt background.

Don't like it, and it doesn't really fit with rest of the iOS 8 design.
Will hide it in the "other" folder :D

it looks like it was slapped together last minute, it almost looks like one of those websites you add to your homescreen as a "web app". doesnt go hand in hand with the style of the rest of the default app icons. imagine if the phone app had an iphone on a black background on it for example

Really though, who cares? Plenty of stock icons are rubbish. How about Photos and Safari for starters...

I would've liked something that represents Apple Watch's circular home screen, maybe in an abstract way. Like a black background with multicolored multi-sized circles, like the apple watch background?

Sounds better, but most typical users won't get it and will confuse it with something else or something like that. It's that lowest common denominator type of thing.

I hid it in a folder but I do agree that it looks bad. Obviously we hold Apple to a pretty high standard if this is even something we're talking about, but it just doesn't seem to be an Apple-like thing. It feels lazy. I remember Craig Federighi joking last year about the time they spent on the Trash icon for Yosemite. It doesn't feel like that attention to detail went into this. But hey, keep making great products and I can get over the occasional ugly icon.

I think the watch itself is very non-Apple, let alone the app icon.
It looks kinda cheap.
