I wasn't debating about how good it was (and I've seen the video clip many a time, big fan), I'm also a Faith No More fan so as soon as I see Ashes To Ashes I think of those magnificent bastards....

Sorry I thought you were trying to say that it was a Faith No More (great band) song rather than a Bowie.

I could quite happily watch that scene in the vault everyday for the rest of my life.

Thank god for camera angles eh?;)

I agree, well with iPlayer you can watch it as many times as you want for the next five days

Was Ashes to Ashes on in England last night?
We had the Rangers game on BBC Scotland, but no info when last night's episode will be shown up here.

I think it was, I always watch it on the iPlayer so you can catch it on there.

Now I don't understand why they have the name of the Bowie song, they have all of the imagery, but they don't have the song! It was there for a few seconds in episode 1 I think, but surely it should be the theme tune... Guess they couldn't afford it this time around...

I don't think "Life on Mars" by David Bowie was played in "Life on Mars" much either.

1st episode, just before Sam is run over he is listening to "Life on Mars" on his iPod, hooked up to his cars stereo.

When he wakes up in 1973 its playing on an 8 Track.

Last episode of the 1st series Life on Mars is playing again as he releases the truth about his father.

...and at the end of series 2 when he (spoiler, text in white) jumps off the building.

That scene nearly got me in trouble with my wife.

When she (Alex) said "I'm hot" I couldn't help but say (out loud) "I'll say" followed by a "you'll regret that" look from my wife.

As for this weeks episode, I went through all the 80's names used to described homosexuals before the show started and said I didn't think they would use any of them. Within the first 10 minutes all had been said.

"Not scratching this baby"

:)

Anyone else noticed just how chubby the "old" New Romantics were in the nightclub.

Lots of Duran Duran fans 26 years and 5 stones later...

I was just reading through the thread, when the enormity of '26 Years' hit me - it really HAS been that long eh!!

ouch!

nig.

Yeah, it's also on my Virgin On Demand, but it's never the same as watching it 'live'! We are now a week behind and will fall back further when the return leg is shown next week so I'd better catch up otherwise you lot will spoil it for me!

A bit of bitter-sweet that they are having a good run in Europe!:)

I have just been catching up on Ashes to Ashes, and whilst it is not as good as Life on Mars it is getting better.

So how does everyone expect this season to finish? I think that to survive Alex will have to kill her parents. Then maybe we will get a second series out of it where she returns and meets up with Gene Hunt again?

Also it will turn out that Ray is gay. From watching the last episode and when they where playing Space Invaders he said something that I thought made it very obvious.

I don't know. The last two or three episodes have been as good as Life on Mars IMO. The sequence with Alex being dragged into the fridge and Gene shooting out the glass door to Vienna was just fantastic television. Those screams Alex was making were spine-chilling.

I think "Life on Mars" was better aswell.

That would be a pretty interesting ending.

I think Keeley Hawes said on "Friday Night with Jonathan Ross" that the BBC had finished filming a second series.

Also it will turn out that Ray is gay. From watching the last episode and when they where playing Space Invaders he said something that I thought made it very obvious.

He did seem to be a little bit hurt when he found out Chris wouldn't be able to go to the pub with him.

That was a good scene IMHO.

I have a theory of something that may happen in the series.

At the beggining of the series the person who murdered Alex was on the phone and said "I've got a piece of your past here right in front of me". I think he was on the phone to Evan or whatever he's called.

As I said earlier in this thread, I wasn't keen on the Alex character at first. However, as the season has progressed, she has really developed and I now think this series is even better than Life on Mars. Absolutely stunning TV from the BBC

Well - last episode of Series 1 tonight - will Alex's parents die - or will there be a huge cliffhanger at the end.

My money is on the latter !!

well not as good a last episode as i hoped but not too bad , i think they might have filmed 2 endings just in case they did not get a 2nd series

so more of the Gene Geney next year

That twist had occurred to me weeks ago after the affair revelation, but I'd dismissed it in favour of another theory, one which the producers were obviously steering the audience towards with the clues strewn across tonight's episode. Great ep though, and another series next year. Woo-hoo!! :)

while i really like these programs I feel that it is an easy genre to write for as the whole coma thing has been down an awful lot and you don't really have to follow any normal guidelines as it can all be put down to the mind.
