I think you guys with CC issues are out of luck. I ordered 2 of 4 several hours after cut off last Friday and they have shipped already. I think ATT reallocated your phones to next in line people whose CC took. Sorry to be bad news bearing and I hope I am wrong and you get your phones as expected but it might be time for plan B.

I hope you guys can re-direct AT&Ts ineptitude into some billing discount - that is ridiculous. Demand they waive your upgrade fee for screwing up your order.

Never had a problem ordering from AT&T.

Some people shoot THEMSELVES in the foot and then try to blame others.

While that is true of some people, it is not true of all (me). They never notified me that my order was being held up because they needed to verify additional information. I never got ANY emails, but the order status looked OK online. When I called and answered their questions, it put me at the back of the line.

I just bit the bullet and canceled the order. Another "you've got to be kidding me" moment with an ATT CSR. Here is the conversation with her:

ME: Can you tell me the status of my order?
HER: Your order is "backedorder"
ME (thought): whoa, cool, a new word. "Backedorder"
ME: I would like to cancel my order please.
HER: (after some time) OK, I have canceled the order. You may want to try to go to the store tomorrow morning and get one.
ME: OK, I may do that. But, I still see the order status live online; are you sure it is canceled?
HER: Yes, I hit "this button", therefore it has been canceled
ME: I want to make sure having an open order isn't going to mess things up if I try to get one tomorrow.
HER: You should, um, just keep checking "periodously" and it'll be canceled.
ME (thought): awesome! 2 new words in the span of 2 minutes. Is her name Merriam, by chance?
ME: Ummm, OK, but that is not very comforting.
HER: It'll cancel ... it just may take 24-48hrs.
ME: Ummm, the in-store phones will be sold out by then.
HER: Maybe. Is there anything else I can help you with today?
...

I'm going to press my luck and go bright and early tomorrow. Nothing like getting up really early twice for the same phone. Ugh.

EDIT: Lo and behold, I just got an order cancellation email from AT&T. This is the first email I have gotten from them during this entire endeavor. They are batting about .333 in email deliveries. Good in baseball, not so much in customer service.

you should also make sure she reversed your upgrade status. it would suck if you get there, get a phone, and they tell you that you're not eligible.

I just called AT&T and they told me they are still in "pre-order" mode...

I ordered my phone Sunday morning, and they said it would be at my house anywhere from tomorrow till the 28th, but no later than the 28th, that came with a SECURED promise from the AT&T Rep... lol:D

I wish you good luck!

Was back-ordered still.

Called CSR and asked them to cancel order. She said no and I asked for supervisor. He canceled order and put me on the line with another CSR to do the upgrade reversal.

She said she put it through and it could take 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or UP TO 72 hours!!

This was an hour ago and still no upgrade showing...

I planned on camping at ATT tomorrow so hopefully this doesn't screw me.. I will keep you all updated when I get my upgrade reversal.

I ordered my iPhone Friday the 14th at 3:15am EST, 15 minutes after preorders started, and it's still backordered. chances of it coming tomorrow are slim. this is ridiculous

I kid not: overnight my shipping address was changed on AT&T's website to a place where I do or live. Rep was dumbfounded, correctly saying it was very odd that my billing address and shipping address didn't match anymore. Suffice it to say, I could not correct this mistake in time to have it shipped.

I cancelled my order with AT&T after a representative told me it wasn't going to ship until after 10/4 and still got shipped the phone. Now i have two iphones and it's a giant mess.

Just got off the phone with att, they said that all pre-ordered phones are currently in a warehouse waited to be sorted, those that have been sorted have been shipped, once the backorder iphones are sorted you will get an email containing tracking info and order confirmation again.

Tell them that you'll ship it back in 14-21 days at the earliest.

so if I changed my billing address about 30 minutes before I ordered the phone, could this be the reason it hasn't shipped?

haha precisely. I asked AT&T what gives and they told me to return the one shipped to me by mistake immediatly or return the other iphone i bought from the apple store and activate theirs instead. so dumb, i'll be taking my time with it.

Anyone cancel order and actually have there upgrade reversed? Still waiting for mine.. About to call again and try to push it through.

EDIT: I just contacted LIVE CHAT and asked them to reverse my upgrade. Mary put the upgrade reversal through and it worked IMMEDIATELY! Checked on *639# and tried apple.com and I am good to go for tomorrow to camp out. So anyone who canceled an order and is waiting for reversal don't forget to try live chat!

Who knows? Apparently it can change without you touching it and that will mess it up, so I guess anything can happen.

Finally got them to admit it won't ship til the 5th and now they won't cancel the order...

They sort of screwed up mine when they ported my current cell number to it 5 days early :p

Got some Csr's to send an email to cancel it. Also called after and a csr to give me and update and he told me it was cancelled. Got a lady in the chat room to tell me that my upgrade status would be ready for today.

Well, I woke up and none of that had happened. I decided to go line up anyway. After and hour of standing in line, and another 20 mins in the store, I walked out with my iPhone at the upgrade price. The in store reps were much more helpful than the phone and chat csr's.

My status still shows in process for the other order though. Wonder if I'm getting 2 phones?
