...and the full list of available ringtones includes: "Love Me Do", "From Me to You", "She Loves You", "I Want To Hold Your Hand", "Can't Buy Me Love", "A Hard Day's Night", "I Feel Fine", "Eight Days a Week", "Ticket to Ride", "Help!", "Yesterday", "Day Tripper", "We Can Work It Out", "Paperback Writer", "Yellow Submarine", "Eleanor Rigby", "Penny Lane", "All You Need Is Love", "Hello, Goodbye", "Lady Madonna", "Hey Jude", "Get Back", "The Ballad of John and Yoko", "Something", "Come Together", "Let It Be", and "The Long and Winding Road".

Not enough Paul songs... :)

I wonder how they come up with a list like this. 27 songs out of ~200. Are these the biggest sellers on iTunes, and Apple is milking them for even more? Did the Beatles' organization have any input/veto on this list?

Not enough 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'.

I have to pay for a song, and then pay the same amount to play a short version of the same song at a specific time (when I get a phone call). How do they justify this?

"Because we can" is how they justify it. It's free money for them.

I don't understand why anyone would waste $1.29 for a 30-second clip. But apparently enough people do.

LOL i don't even like the beetles. But if i did i'd just use a free ringtone maker and save myself the money. Honestly ringtones should be free if you buy the full song. It should be like the free downloadable media they include with blurry movies so you can use the media on other devices (iPod, psp, etc).

I think you are missing that some people cannot do such things easily.

You need to get some new internet access.

No doubt. For instance, we all seem to be reading posts on MR.

My internet access at 120mbps is fine. Apples servers in the US are slow when connecting up to the UK.

Never mind the price (yes it is cheap, but still wasteful to buy the same song twice in iTunes, after you have purchased it before on Vinyl, Cassette and/or CD)

How can anyone use a song they like as a ringtone? That is a quick way to get really sick of a song, or at least that 30 second segment...

Quick sound effects are the best ringtones, you want to be that person who can't get to their phone quickly in a quite area while everyone gets to hear a sample of your music collection?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

And this is news? Shouldn't it be on page 2 or something.

Ring tones are the one thing that iTunes Store sound quality is fit for. To buy a remastered Beatles song from there is just mindlessly not a good idea.

Fixed. ;)

- Get Info on a song, set a Start - End range in the song for the part you want as a ringtone
- Set the exporter to AAC
- Right-Click : "Create AAC Version"
- Right-Click the new 30 second song - "Show in Finder".
- Copy it to desktop
- Delete if from iTunes and from the disk (not your copy on the desktop).
- Get Info on the original song, remove the Start and End range.

Go to the desktop and :

- Rename the 30 second song, changing its extension from m4a to m4r.
- Import into iTunes.

Congratulations on your free ringtone.

That's how I've made all of my ringtones, I wonder why Apple can't simply have an option to select a song from your music library on the phone and select "Use as Ringtone" like my old Symbian dumbphone would allow me to.

It is completely ridiculous that there is not simply an option to "Choose from iTunes library" when selecting a ringtone. Apple is milking this cow just because they can. I'm still surprised that people are willing to pay so much for a ringtone, especially considering how terrible ringtones sound on the 4S.

I have been making my own ringtones since I got my iPhone. My question is, what happens when you have iTunes Match? I don't sync from my laptop anymore, just from the cloud.... :(

You can still sync Ringtones over USB or WiFi sync. Ringtones don't sync over the cloud, but you still have the option to sync them.

from mind expanding drugs, the maharishi, and Lennon's social struggles and give peace a chance to ringtones for effing mobile phones with two dead members and the other two Septuagenarian... Just put the damn songs in the public domain already, haven't they and their offspring made enough money already that they need to sell ringtones? tstststs

I'd like to think that if Lennon were still around he'd have something to say on the subject of Beatles songs being converted to ringtones. At least I'd like to think that.

I'd rather create a Beatles ringtone from the Beatles music I've already paid for, thank you!

It would what, take two minutes, probably a lot less?

Why would I want to pay $1.29 again for a 30 second music clip?

Sure.. maybe good for people who can't be arsed or don't already have the music...

So true. Actually, I'm a bit worried that Apple may be really thinking now their customer base is the people who can't be arsed. Hence they think they can sell 30 sec music clips for $1.29 or turn macos into ios etc etc...
