The 2014 models. I don't like the force-touch trackpads, and the 2014 models I've had have been bulletproof.
Except that the displays turn into literal ****

Agreed - luckily you can turn off force-touch on the 2015's.
I've never seen that on a 2014, only on a Late 2013, which Apple replaced.
And that's infinitely better than 3 keyboard failures on one 2016 . . .
I work in IT, I see this displays disintegrate all the time.
Actually:

Looks like it is worse then they thought!
As I wrote, I have never seen that happen on a 2014, and I've had several.
Let me guess - you haven't seen a SINGLE 2016/2017 keyboard fail?Hyperbole is not your friend.
Yep, but I still believe my MacBook Pro is awesome. You necroed a 1,4y old thread
The late 2013 Haswell 15" Retina Macbook Pro is the best Macbook Pro Apple had ever created.
It's almost 2017 and it's CPU is as fast as the latest Macbook Pro. Read and Write speeds of 1gb/s and 16 gb of RAM is still very competitive too.
The only reason why someone wants to upgrade is for the 460 GPU, the need for USB-C ports, the touch bar or simply the need of having the latest.
Also the 2013 15" Haswell Macbook Pro has zero issues unlike the other models.
I don't think there has ever been a Macbook Pro that has been able to stay so close in performance (excluding GPU performance. If you need GPU performance you should buy a PC) to the latest models after 3 years of age.
Hows your battery life?mine! 2020 i7 32gb ram 1tb ssd on Big Sur 11.1 beta
! Because better battery life for $2k-resell outweighs being able to power two external displays for $0 for you?caved.... 2020 MBP M1 16r 1Tb.... dang this thing is nice. Coming from a 2015 15 inch
depends, but probably 4-6 hours depends a lot on how good my internet connection is! my mobile hot spot seems to suck more battery! that 4-6 hours is a pretty intense workout, YouTube, photo editing, music playing in backgroundHows your battery life?
Congrats. How do you feel about the 13 inch screen compared to the 15? Would you say its more about loss of screen real estate or an eyesight thing...i.e. much small fonts, etc? Thanks.caved.... 2020 MBP M1 16r 1Tb.... dang this thing is nice. Coming from a 2015 15 inch
I agree use mine for hours everyday. My wife was forced to work at home because of Covid we both shared it from Mar -Aug till she retired. i will probably get a 16 MBP M1 next year. I would replace the battery in 2012 but have not found a reliable place to get one.I think my 2012 rMBP is the best one ever made, perfect balance of features, power, size and weight.
In terms of Heartache and Despair .....2011 15" with AMD GPU! 🤨. Just so its remembered....The late 2013 Haswell 15" Retina Macbook Pro is the best Macbook Pro Apple had ever created.

2016-2019 was pretty much a lost generation. The new ones have a great deal of promise. Save yourself the heartache of butterfly keyboard, skip that generation.Thoughts now in 2020?
Looking to upgrade from MBP 2012, mainly for bigger screen size and resolution. At least a Quad core would be nice, as well.
