The Best Superbowl Ad Was for the iPhone

Also, while it's another story. Seriously Samsung, a stylus? I'm not going to ask if "you're serious" - because spending $10 million evidently secured your position. I'm sure you all will kill this year! If this year is 2003.

I disagree. They're selling that exact phone overseas like crazy. I guess pre-order just started in the states, so we'll see how it goes here. I've always thought a stylus would be nice for accuracy on a touch screen phone. Use your fingers 95% of the time, and when you want to hand write or draw or just do something really accurately... Use the stylus. What's the big deal?

We all know we can't be accurate when trying to draw or write or do *certain types* of photo editing with our fingers on a 3.5" screen. It's just not good enough. This is coming from a iPhone user of four years by the way.

better question is did anyone else notice it. I know a lot of people tend to turn it off the TV shortly after the game is over.

It nice free advertisement and something Apple could use if they wanted to make an Ad around it but in terms of the public even noticing. Unlikely unless you were a tech nerd or a Apple fan.
Athletes willfully endorsing a product > Product advertised through means of mocking another product

People will have noticed, because people notice Apple products, whether hatefully or approvingly.

So, only people who own an iPhone, know how an iPhone looks?

I don't own one and i know how it looks, the apple logo on the back of the thing gives it away too.

Strawman.
He never said only iPhone owners know how it looks. You said that.
You're putting words in his mouth and misrepresenting his very valid point just to try to strengthen yours.
But just like smartphones, identifying obvious logical fallacies isn't always everyone's strong suit.

I notice how badly people spell here more than I noticed the number of iPhones taking pics in that video.

I noticed and thought it was interesting, particularly because football players usually have very large hands and fingers. I would imagine they would prefer a larger phone, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

people actually stayed up to see the awarding of the trophy? Once the game was over, the TV was off in our house - we had work the next day.

best ad IMO was the Clint Eastwood/Chrystler halftime spot. It wasnt funny, but I think it is making a bid for being right up there with the :apple: 1984 commercial.

On the lighter side of things, the Doritos dog commercial was awesome.

Shouldn't there have been more Android phones? I thought they were activating something like five million every hour. :D

I really didn't get that Ad... First, Chrysler has filed bankruptcy at least once in the Lee Iacocca days (somehow Apple's spelling checker knows Iacocca! Hey, quality recognizing quality). Also, it has been sold a few times and last I heard it wasn't a majority of US backers. Is it US owned now?

GM has filed bankruptcy too, so they are clearly run as poorly as Chrysler group, but a lot more capital at stake. Have you talked to folks how had their 401Ks invested in Chrysler or GM at the time? No joy there.

Ford hasn't filed bankruptcy ever that I am aware of. They seem to be the pioneer, sorta like Apple in with the Apple II. Then a #2 company comes in, ala Samsung, and craps on them in a commercial (reference to the Chevy End of the World commercial).

It sounded at first like Clint Eastwood was talking about America/Detroit generally, but then he mentioned Chrysler, and I flipped out. Sounds like a sellout. I bet he got shares in Chrysler or a block or two of downtown Detroit. He also did that movie in Detroit, which not many know about, that was supposed to be Minneapolis, but Detroit bribed him enough to change the city in the movie from the book. Clint has a record of taking their money.

They're selling like crazy for any phone other than the iPhone I guess. Last I checked it was reported that Samsung had sold 1 million Galaxy Notes globally in 2 months. Apple last noted they sold 37 million in a quarter or 3 months. Who knows maybe they will sell 36 million in the US in the first month.

I'm not arguing that there isn't a market for it. Which is probably why Samsung has 134 phones to sell vs Apples 3.
I moved from a stylus phone, had 2 Palm Treo's, and I still can't remember how many stylus I had to buy between my kids and myself.
Note: I'm not trying to compare the Treo to the Note. ATM I just can not think of a reason I would need to pull a stylus out.

On another note I enjoyed the America's Got Talent commercial.

No we should decide based off of actors paid to endorse them while riding dirt bikes and firing out of cannons instead

Youre both wrong. We should decide... no. We should do as Steve Jobs told us to. You know, like this;

Come on, over egging the pudding somewhat don't you think? It wasn't that obvious. The way the article was witten I expected there to be like 50 people lined up with the same phone. Besides all those phones look the same, it could have been anything, didn't some European Judges say so ;)

What's with "world champions"? Not my world.

I'm a nerd I noticed my white iPhone with black bumper and yes I said mine lol. But in all seriousness the Samsung commercial was funny but the iPhone is the Porsche, Samsung is a Cadillac that's all there is to it!

I tried criticizing the stylus on another thread and was crucified. Be careful!!

Yeah, I actually told my wife that it seems like a lot of players had white iPhones.

So much for the theory that 'real' men don't buy white iPhones for themselves.

I was going to post this exact same thing. I looked at my wife and said "Well, I guess owning a white iPhone doesn't mean you're gay." and she said "They're on the down low."

But yeah, too many white iPhones. Though they are pretty.

What he said was:
How many people who have never used an iPhone would have even known it was an iPhone they were all using.

That seems to be clearly suggesting that non-iPhone users wouldn't recognize an iPhone. I don't think he is right but I also don't think jacobo007 was putting words in his mouth.

I thought it was obnoxious. I get it, you are in the middle of a historic moment, probably one of the greatest of your life. Still, I'm not exactly looking forward to a future where this is the norm. Iphone or whatever.

So, if i understand correct, you seem to not get your mind around of the thought of people celebrating their greatest moments and taking pictures of it to remember it?
