Acclaimed sports thriller "F1: The Movie" starring Brad Pitt is now available to stream on Apple TV.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer alongside Formula 1 icon Lewis Hamilton, the film casts Pitt as a veteran driver chasing one last shot at glory.

According to Deadline, the film has surged to $629 million at the global box office, making it the highest-grossing Apple Original Film to date, and the biggest sports movie of the year.

After premiering worldwide on June 27, the film's momentum was strong enough to justify a rare second theatrical run in August, coinciding with its home-release debut.

The success has reportedly gone beyond ticket sales. The film's popularity apparently emboldened Apple to bid for the U.S. streaming rights to Formula 1 itself. In October, Apple and Formula 1 announced a five-year partnership that will bring all F1 races exclusively to Apple TV in the United States beginning next year.

And in case you missed it, Apple updated the logo and name for its streaming service in November – what was once "Apple TV+" is now simply "Apple TV."

Did you guys know that Brad Pitt was actually the one driving the car in the movie? Lewis Hamilton was on set that day and he complimented him on his speed, saying Brad could beat a plane in a race if he was behind the wheel. You can find more if you google "Brad Pitt plane"

Obvious bait is obvious. Not taking it.

Saw it in theaters. OBVIOUSLY it's NOT how anything in F1 actually works, or any racing. Spoiler alert, old guy who hasn't raced in open wheel for years can't come in and just drive suddenly. Also, literally there's an F1 drivers license one must earn to be allowed in a car, so he wouldn't have any points from the Daytona race depicted. Anyways, if you can get past ALL THAT hogwash, it's FUN. But don't think it's real F1. But the in car footage IS AMAZING and worth seeing on a big screen. The racing looked real enough even for me a very avid auto race fan. Only 1 crash appeared to have mildly bad physics. Cars never appeared to be digital replicas.

Ugh, Brad Pitt. The last thing I saw him in from Apple (Wolves) was terrible. One of few films, including the first Now You See Me, where I resented the time spent afterwards for such a pile of 💩.

Generally an entertaining film or the cinematography and sound, but why oh why the love interest story line? Has Hollywood still not learned, from its own movies like A Few Good Men, that movies are better without this cliche?

(also, I sure hope the US management of F1 will never destroy F1 with "combat" the way it transformed Rugby into American Football).

People really get bent out of shape about this film not being accurate in variety of ways, or reflecting how things work in real life F1 races.

If you really can't get over such things - this movie is really not for you. Maybe ask yourself though what you are doing because Lewis Hamilton could deal with it (as he realizes how powerful a popular movie can be for a sport).

I'm a (relatively casual) F1 fan I had fun watching it in the theater. The racing scenes and how it was shot is just entertaining - if racing action is at all interesting to you. Obviously, this movie is heavy on that. It will not make you consider deep life questions, nor should you think that this movie represents real life.

(BTW they dressed up F2 cars into F1 body to make this more manageable to deal with when shooting)

If this is "The biggest sports movie of the year!!!!!!!" then we had a REALLY boring year.
It is officially the #1 highest-grossing sports movie of all time in raw dollars. With inflation-adjusted worldwide box office revenues, it's in the top 5 of all time (beat out by a few Rocky movies and Space Jam [some people consider Jerry Maguire a sports movie; if so, F1 is #6 in adjusted dollars]).

By your reckoning, the only non-boring years we've had were 1985 (Rocky IV), 1976 (Rocky), 1982 (Rocky III), and 1996 (Space Jam; plus maybe Jerry Maguire)!

I don't know about the compliment part, but Brad Pitt did actually drive modified F2 cars for filming, and had to do some training for awhile before doing so. They had some real F1 racers around (supposedly) to help with authenticity as well.

It was a decent movie. I'm not an F1 owner, driver, or in any way affiliated and with that it was entertaining. I watch medical dramas on TV, and I'm not a doctor, nurse, or medically licensed either, so as long as you're not looking for the realism in anything you watch on TV, it can be entertaining and certainly was. Was it corny at times, yes...but so was Maverick...and let's look at how well that did. It's entertainment folks, you're either entertained or so wound up you'd critique your own birth. Did anyone who watched it actually enjoy it? We did...

I recently watched season 1 of Drive to Survive as well as the movie Rush (which I thought was great) and will be giving F1, the movie, a chance this holiday season when gathering with family.

In a world of disagreement among some in my family, F1 is a point of consensus and mutual enjoyment, so I'm looking forward to it no matter if it's a good or bad movie.
