The thing about In-N-Out - I can get a combo with a drink and fries for less than $5. There might be better burgers somewhere, but for the price, I dunno.

Yeah, so tell us about great burgers. Bought ones, home-made ones. Ketchup or onions? Or both?

I don't eat burgers. I don't even like to eat burgers. I eat healthy food. I don't usually eat the food that Americans really like.
I eat healthy foods only and drink a lot of tea.
The secret to living longer is to eat green-coloured food. ;) Anything that's green.

this thread is about "burgers"....

i like in n' out burgers. i like double doubles with just grilled onions and spread. i also like my fries animal style. yum, yum.

ohhh if any of you guys go down to miami you must check out burgers and hot dogs from "los perros" just do a quick google search and you ll find them.....

There's a diner here in town that has awesome home made burgers. I wouldn't get them to go though because then they're half cooked. On the other hand, the worst burger I ate was at the Planet Hollywood in Times Square.

Yeah, I'm hungry too. Thanks to Blue Velvet, I'll be stopping by my local In-N-Out tomorrow for lunch on my way to work. :)

If you ever come to St. Louis you have to go to a place called The Fatted Calf. It's one of those family owned hole-in-the-wall restaurants, that if you blink as you're driving down the street, you'll miss it. But they have by far the best burgers I have ever had.

You know who has great burgers? Fatburger. I'm not talking about those new ones that are all nice - I'm talking about the inner city ones where you get your meal in a brown paper sack with the grease soaking through. Mmmmm!

I had a great burger at The Counter in Santa Monica.

The one in the picture was 2/3 lb after it was cooked. The also have a 1/3 lb and a 1 lb burger. You get to choose all toppings including the bun. And they have great fries and onion rings. Mmmmmmm.........

I went to a fancy trendy Fatburger in a shopping center here one time. It was a rip off. I paid almost $9 for a single cheeseburger combo (I think it was the medium sized burger, not even the biggest). The burger was small as hell and was good but not the best and certaintly not $9 worth (judging by the medium, the small "fat" burger must have been the size of a Mcdonalds patty at 5 times the cost), and the order of fries was like twice the size of the damn burger. The fries were really good though, but still, the price is outrageous for what you get. I'll never go there again unless I win the lottery.

I would hope the prices are better at the "inner city" ones.

I've heard many good things about IN-N-OUT Burger, Tommy Burger, and Fat Burger. Personally, I enjoy Burgerville (Portland, OR), Dick's Burger (Seattle, WA), and Bill Thomas' Halo Burger (Flint, MI). My favorite chain is Burger King, followed closely by White Castle.

Hmmm. I'd be hesitant to recommend English burger places to an American

Do our burger selecting skill intimidate our English friends?;)

but my personal preference would be for Gourmet Burger Kitchen (check the location page) over other chains. :)

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but do they have kind of a modern looking store? That might be too general of a descriptor, but it's all I can remember from when I went to London two years ago. A modern architectur-ed (not a word kids) burger place that was delicious.

This is a burger thread. But if you want to stereotype Americans as fat people who only eat burgers and unhealthy stuff, go ahead. Me? I'll eat In-N-Out one day, and a delicious salad the next.
