I think regardless if the nano sim is shipped with the iphone, wouldn't we have to go to the retail store to get the sim activated anyhow? So therefore, thats why we have to go on friday to get one?

You can also call in to change your sim number and I'm pretty sure all the carrier websites allow you to do that as well.

There's an option on my Rogers to change your sim card.

Anyhow, went to yorkdale and the booth had them but wouldn't give me one. He said that he had to activate it, so since it doesnt fit in any phone right now, he'd have to wait until Friday. Problem is that they will be swamped then, so I'd rather do it myself. Apple said they would give me one Friday, but again, that store will be a zoo then.

Will try other Rogers corporate stores tomorrow.

Im from Alberta and my email confirmation is dated 12:00 on the dot....JUST changed to preparing for shipment!!

My shipment is also "Preparing for Shipment"

I know I can cut my existing SIM card to fit but will I get LTE with it? It's just a regular micro sim from my iphone 4s

Do they send an email for this status change?

Or are you guys just checking online?

Mine has also now changed to 'preparing for shipment' -- I'm also in AB. I hope it's delivered through Fedex, but I believe the UPS store stays open until 7 pm MTN.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the 21st, hope it arrives then for fellow Canadians as well!

the 4s was Fedex. I got mine last year on the Friday around 11:00am in Vancouver.

Anyone willing to help me out by picking up an extra nano sim and mailing it? I'm like 300km from the nearest Rogers's store and even they are clueless about the new sims.

I'd gladly cover the cost and shipping.

Thanks!

I looked online - Preparing for Shipment.

Ordered unlocked because I still have a year left on my contract - and if I upgrade - I'll have to switch to a plan that will cost me more. So I did the math, and unlocked was cheaper in the long run (and then I'm not locked in to another 3 year contract!)

I'm currently using 16GB Black iPhone 4 that I got on launch in 2010. Upgrading to 32GB White iPhone 5.

EXACTLY the same situation here except I'm getting black =)

Got my confirmation email at 3:20am.
My order is still processing.
I'm in London, Ontario.

Also, for anyone looking for a nanosim... After calling a few Rogers stores today I found some at the Rogers kiosk in Westmount Mall. I bought one today. No issues. The guy said I could switch sims on my account online when I get my iPhone 5.

I've gone to 4 Rogers stores in Ottawa to get a nanoSIM. 2 of them said they didn't have any. The other 2 said they did but refused to sell me one on the grounds that if they did, that would be one less iPhone 5 they can sell in stores on Friday... Is Rogers seriously distributing nanoSIMs in a 1:1 ratio with iPhones?!

Does anyone in Ottawa know of a Rogers store selling nanoSIMs?

Dinapea, would you be willing to do the same for me possibly? I'll be more than happy to pay cost+shipping (Canada post preferably, should be able to just fit in a regular envelope, no?) Please don't feel any obligation.

Thanks!

SIM-free iPhone 5 from Apple on order... with Bell.
Anyone know if local stores have nano SIMs in stock yet? Support on Twitter indicated they 'should' be available on the 21st.

I went to a store in Montreal yesterday and they said they would be getting them on the 21st. The guy also mentioned that they will be charging a $5 fee for the sim swap.

I'll try tomorrow with Rogers and see how many I can get (hopefully for FREE). I'll confirm tomorrow the ability to get Rogers sim cards

That sucks.

At first my rogers kiosk said they only had 20 of them and weren't going to even sell me one. So they talked to the manager and she said they weren't holding them specifically for friday and to just give me one, so I got mine for free luckily. I did offer to pay though.

I wasn't going to have a brand new phone that couldn't be used over a sim card issue.

I was the first in my town to get my hands on the iPhone 3g and couldn't use it for hours because of the activation issues. Pissed me right off!

I don't know why they couldn't do like they did with the iPad and ask which carrier sim you'd like shipped with the phone.

Were they selling them or giving them? I have a place in line with them as well #434. I'm planning on going tomorrow- I went this evening to Queen/Hammersmith and they just closed

I'm in Toronto and the Rogers store in the Beaches had a big wad of them.

Finally, within the last hour or so, my iPhone 5 order status has changed to "preparing for shipment".
Ordered a 64 gig (white) unlocked at 01:09 MT.

They told me if I was doing a hardware upgrade then I'd get the sim for free but since I was bringing my own hardware (I bought an unlocked iPhone 5) I had to pay. I said I thought it was odd that I had to pay to continue being a Rogers customer. In the end, I paid my $10 and left with the nanosim.
