Canada will have to wait A LONG time for anything like this. As mentioned, Rogers, Bell, Shaw, etc (those that own the TV stations) own the broadcasting rights in Canada. That's why we don't have an HBO app, because Bell owns the broadcasting rights for HBO and wants to to subscribe to cable, so that's the only way to get it.

Changes are coming to Canada, though, as there are hearings going on to figure out how to regulate content over the internet as more and more people watch programming over the internet rather than TV.

City TV has an Apple TV app in Canada now. You can watch full episodes without a cable or satellite subscription for free.

The shows have commercials though which can't be skipped. And it actually glitched on me the first time I watched anything, and I was stuck in an endless loop of the same four commercials. But hey, at least it's a start!

This is great for CW. Just wish they would also create a No Commercial Tier for those willing to pay for it. Really hate we lost this option under Hulu.

What re you talking about? I have the commercial free option on Hulu. Don't tell me they at getting rid of it!

Yay!

I mean, I can't believe that it's the CW of all networks that's spearheading this move, and I also can't believe I'm cheering for the CW, but...

Yay anyway!

I recommend checking out Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. One of my favorite TV shows.
I like it, but I do skip all the songs, while funny it takes too long and not as enjoyable as the non singing parts for ME.

You've been able to stream all their shows for free on their website for at least a year, so this really comes as no surprise. It's pretty much an app wrapper for their website.

Wish more networks would be like the CW.

Yep, it's called progressive media.
Not progressive enough until we reach true gender *equality* and not tit-for-tat thinking.

Yeah, I can't wait until the entire world is made up of light brown androgynous hermaphrodites. And I, for one, welcome our new gender and race-neutral overlords.

Equality is a fantasy and unrealistic social construct. Fairness and equality don't exist in nature and cannot be mandated or legislated.

On topic: Good on the CW. This is the model TV apps should have adopted in the first place for the transition from OTA to streaming.

How do you really hate the No Commercial Tier when it is still there?

Maybe you mean we lost the free Hulu service?!?!

It's no longer for all shows. The bigger network shows still have commercials even if you pay for the commercial-free option.

Seriously? I swear, every time I interact with or learn something new about Hulu, I hate the service just that much more.

The Flash is really fun, it's tonally right on, and strikes just a terrific balance of fun, drama, mystery, etc.

The hole left behind by FotC is a huge chasm ...
I'm a big fan too and it's got a great positive "aw shucks" vibe to it that isn't too cheesy and is a nice balance to the more serious Agents of Shield that airs the same night.

pulled all of their shows from Hulu (which all the other OTA networks use) and had to find a way to retain their weekly streaming numbers
Actually CBS doesn't use Hulu which is a bummer because I'd really like to watch Colbert more often.
