Heath Ledger plays a GREAT Joker. I would never have guessed. I'm picking up on some mannerisms from Tommy Lee Jones. They work well though. I bet he's making bank for this part
Not as much as the $60 million Nicholson made in the 1980s. That'd be like making $150 million today by Hollywood standards (ie: around 6 times more than the highest paid actors today).
I have to agree, it really wasn't dark enough for my liking. I wish they would take it a little more seriously instead of dumbing it down for the mass market.
Yeah, they really should use the darkness to create suspense.
After seeing Memento I thought Nolan would do a better job pulling it off than he actually did. Now if they could get someone like David Fincher to do the next one that'd be ace.
At least he's going to go out with a bang with this movie...it looks like it's going to be really good, and he seems really creepy and deranged, which is exactly how the Joker should be.
I read somewhere that Heath said playing the Joker was really hard for him because the character is so deranged and psychotic, and getting into the character was really tough and draining, and that he was having trouble sleeping because of it.
And then they found him dead with sleeping pills next to him? hmmm...probably just speculation, but...
