I've just bought a mini to try OS X and so far I am a bit disapointed. OS X is clearly not what I though it would be and it's more trouble than win7 for the moment. The mini is nice though...

You know that for the price of the base macbook pro, you could build yourself a very powerful computer.

With the 600$ you save, you can get yourself a nice IPS 24inch screen and still have 200$ to spend on a better Graphic card or CPU.

You're so right.

Macbook Pro isn't really desktop PC, it's not like you will carry your desktop PC and 24'' monitor with you, right?

Umm, you get a dual core i7 versus a dual core i5. More than just a speed bump there. Biggest difference is the i5 doesn't hyperthread and the i7 does.

Totally bad information. The article you linked is talking about DESKTOP chips. We're talking about the 13 inch laptop... They BOTH have hyper threading, but the differences mainly relate to clock speed for the i5 (2.4 to 3) vs i7 (2.8 to 3.5). Also the i7 has support for miscellaneous things like vPro and VT-d for heavy visualization users.

Biggest difference is clock speed for the average user.
