Weird how this works out.

Anywho, OLED is always darker than LCD. It takes a lot more power for OLED to get as bright but it usually never does for now. But you get the sweet infinite blacks.

Some long time iPhone users are just now getting to see the differences in screen display qualities. Since I flip/flop between os's all the time I've seen these differences for years but having said this I've always thought Apple had the best LCD quality displays of anybody. Definite differences between the 2 types but I think both are equally good and both bring good displays to the table, but both also have upsides and downsides. But I can also certainly understand one who has used nothing but an iPhone for years and now is suddenly using the X the WoW factor for the screen must be pretty large.

So many personal accounts say it’s so much better or the difference is minimal. We had a poll on this and last time I looked 61 people said the difference was significant and 42 people said they couldn’t notice a huge difference.

I reckon the difference depends on the users eyesight.

Not the note 8

Let me shorten this for you. Just say. THANK YOU SAMSUNG.
Please do not associate credit for OLED Displays with Apple.
I’ve been using Samsung OLED Phones for 3 Years now OLED is Amazing
And LG OLED TVs also are amazing LG makes the OLED display for the Apple Watch.
And next years iPad Pro X will also likely use 10.5” OLED displays made by LG.

Samsung just manufacture the OLED screens designed by Apple, just like the A chips, they only manufacture them, the design is by Apple. Apple could have these screens built by any fab, samsung was chosen for their level of output. Probably why the Apple designed display is ranked better than Samsung’s own effort. But I’m sure Samsung will bounce back now they have Apples design to work from ;)

Mine shifts to yellow with small movements and towards red off axis.

Damn, just read that and then edited my post but not before you replied. I was wrong.

maybe both your eye sights are slightly different?
unless you 2 meet and confirm, how could you be sure?

That video on my 7+ looks amazing. Sharp, clear, vibrant. I don't have a X to compare it to, but by no means does that video look blurry, or not sharp on my 7+.

Do we know for a fact that Apple created the X display from scratch and Samsung has nothing to do with it, other than manufacturing? If so, that’s rather impressive for a company with... just how much prior OLED design experience?

Those A chips are highly customized ARM designs btw. Apple didn’t create them from scratch. They just did a way better job than everybody else at tweaking them to perfection. They did an amazing job on those.

Mine has a horrible yelloe warm hue when looking at it but with a slight tint it goes nice and white balanced its annoying i hate the yellow tint and yes my true tone is off

I had my girlfriend pull up the same video on her iPhone 8+ and we held our phones side-by-side and the difference was absolutely unbelievable. My video was crystal clear, sharp, and the colors were gorgeous. The blacks are absolute black. On my girlfriends phone, the video appeared blurry in some areas and the colors seemed washed out.

Worth trying out yourselves in person if you have access to the X and a different iPhone. I couldn't believe the difference.

That video looks amazing on my 8+. Thank you for posting it. The colors really pop and everything is so smooth and crisp. Nothing is washed out or blurry. The blacks are not truly black though, but they get surprisingly close. Very good for an LCD display and certainly good enough for me and I’m rather picky. I feel like I have to look for it by comparing the black on the display with the black on my SG bezel. I think your girlfriend lost the display lottery and got a really poor one. Is she using a screen protector? Some cheap screen protectors can really affect the image quality in a bad way.
