I've had the iPhone XR (notch), Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G (hole punch) and now the 14 Pro (dynamic island) and I must say I like the dynamic island the best. I like how its implemented on Apple Music (and I hope other music services do this as well.) For other things like Apple Pay and Face ID I like how those are handled via the island instead of the middle of the screen. I hope more devs make use of it.

Reddit reader app Apollo utilizes the space above the DI with a pixel pet.

I will say I was curious about the pixel pet so when I was transferring my stuff to my 14 Pro I went with Apollo over the regular Reddit app

One thing about the hole punch is that it takes about ten seconds to forget it exists. But it has no functionality.

@eyoungren wasn’t it you lol?
More than likely.

I held out until 2015. My rationale at the time was that Sprint's network was so poor I was going to get my pound of flesh from them by taking advantage of their deals that gave me some discounts on my plan and phone.

That would have been the 6+, which I didn't really care to have, but I got my pound of flesh. I traded that phone into T-Mobile when we left, which meant an upgrade to a 6s+. Again, not a phone I cared to have but I needed a phone.

If it means anything, that 6s+ (which I still have) was my primary until 2019 when I got a Pixel 3a XL. When I came back to iOS/iPhone that was 2021 and the 11 Pro Max.

So, I skipped that whole bug-eye camera boil period from the 6s+ to the 11PM. Yeah, the 11PM has a bump too (much bigger than my 6s+) but I justify it (maybe not convincingly) by my preference of iOS over Android.

FWIW, I'm not planning on upgrading for the next 3 or 4 years so perhaps Apple will finally do away with the bump by then.

Dynamic Island is one of my favorite features of the phone.

Yes, just tried this and it's adorable.
I love it, too.

Does the pixel pet just show up? I haven't seen him yet.

I received my new 14 Pro yesterday and was very excited to try the dynamic island. I have to say it sucks. I found the notch on the 13 pro somewhat intrusive, but the island is all on another level. When I open Safari/Mail/calendar or other programs with a white background, the island looks like a big black spot in the middle of the screen, which significantly interferes with my regular phone usage. I am not sure if I will be able to adjust.
You're still within the 14 day return window, so your solution should be rather... simple.
