Games of E3 Impressions (so far)
Ni No Kuni. - fab
(new gameplay trailer) - a game that continues to impress and one that can not arrive soon enough
Injustice Gods Among Us - meh.
If this was 5 years ago at the start of the current gen, it would look average, but as it stands looks like a very mediocre game and one I'd be surprised if it achives anything but 5 out of 10 kind of scores upon release.
Resident Evil 6 (Leon Campaign) - Amazing Production Values
Yes the graphics and reduction values are clearly on top of their game here. Everything looked amazing until the shooting / fighting / gameplay mechanics kicked in. Very Resident Evil 4/5 in its mechanics, which whilst a massive leap above the previous Resident Evil games still look a little clunky and not very 'natural and fluid'. Especially in comparison to some of the new franchise reboot AAA titles also coming out. Despite that it does look visually amazing.
Street Fighter X Tekken (Vita) - top form fighter!
Pushing aside MK Vita's graphical blunder, here we see what a developer willing to push the Vita can actually achieve. Graphically it looks on par with it's big brothers and Capcom have to be praised. Looking like a proverbial knock out.
Lost Planet 3 - another stunning looking reboot
After what I think was a miss-step with LP2 Capcom have returned with yet another game whose production values are simply on another level. Awesome gameplay trailer that only serves to warm your blood for this Icy adventure. Great voice acting and certainly more of a western look with the characters, this could be another massive game in 2013
DmC Devil May Cry - reboot the hell out of here!!
A game franchise I had lost interest in and after the boring randomness of DMC4 had little interest in, but the new Dante, the new world and the new bosses look amazing. The nightclub fighting section looked awesome and has me looking forward to this franchise once more.
Tomb Raider 3 - open world demo, Microsoft e3 on stage and parachuting demo's.... A genuine diamond and treasure reborn.
Crystal Dynamic have undoubtably one if the best looking games ever on their hands here and one that looks to possess so much fluidity (RE6 take notice), suspense, tension and amazing digital acting that I just can not wait to play this.
Aliens Colonial Marines - e3 multiplayer demo
Despite everything I'm still left feeling a little underwhelmed. Yes graphically it looks great but not a giant leap over Alien Vs Predtor game out not so long ago. It could be a genuine stunner, but fom what I've seen so far it leaves me with nothing but the mpressions it's just another Aliens shooter (not a bad thing necessarily) and a little underwhelmed.
Call Of Duty - Black Ops 2. (visually stunning, but same game?)
Another game which I had little interest in ( I know it's going to sell billions but it's not a franchise that appeals to me) and yet I can not be anything bt impressed by the stunning production values and epic cinematic feel it provides to the FPS genre. The g12 attack looked simply amazing and the level of detail in the environment during the escort mission blew me away. That being sad, outside of the AAA production values it didn't offer me anything 'new' gameplay wise and that for me is the biggest reason why I tend to grow bored with the FPS genre. This will undoubtably be the biggest game 'this year' now everything else seems to be pushed back till early 2013
Crysis 3 - e3 mayhem gameplay trailer
Another looker but another FPS that provides little new to its actual gameplay. Previous Crysis 2 didn't really impress me , though it's clear yet again ths is going to stand as another Technical showpiece for the right hardware. I just wish Crysis offered me more than that, but I find the story and actual mechanics to not do so... Ironically them going from Crytek's original FarCry (sold on to Ubisoft) we move on to
FarCry 3 - campaign walkthough
Which looks like it is going back to Crytek's original vision of the franchise with ts tropical open world vibrant setting, but ditching the genetic monsters of the first game for the twisted human fascist villians of FarCry 2. An intriguing looking FPS and one that 'may' provide something new gameplay wise, rather than just delivering AAA production values like much of the showcased FPS's his year.
Halo 4 - yikes you have peeked my interest once more Bungie / Retro (whomever)
So after Halo 3, which was OK ( played fab but again didn't really do anything new) for me the Halo franchise has been in a downhill slide. Didn't enjoy the last two games at all and combat evolved was just a prettier version of a game I'd already played. So didn't have any real interest in ths but after the MS conference I must admit it impressed me. The epic scale that the halo franchise often gets right portraying has returned once more and again production values seem out if this world. Will I buy another 360 for it though ? Prob not, but had I kept mine I'd certainly be on this.
Assasins Creed 3 - left me cold sadly.
I don't know why but this years AC doesn't do it for me. The new tombraider seems to do natural survival better, and the running platforming on branches looks like it could be quite cumbersome (they all look the same so how do I know what branch I can run on and what I can't?). graphically it doesn't seem to be pushing the boundaries of the hardware, something that clearly almost every other game at e3 seems to be doing. Don't get me wrong ut could be great, but so far it's left me numb and disinterested.
Generally I think it's safe to say hardware certainly seems to be getting pushed to new heights and after some of this years stunning graphical showpieces - certainly shows the current gen will be going out on a high if next years e3 showcases new hardware from Sony & MS.
So far - need more Vita game announcements and demonstrations. Lacking so far.
Wii U - bring on the 3rd Party games please, heck just bring on the games....
