ZombieU (awful name) but the actual gameplay footage on gametrailers actually looks interesting.

That would actually be "ZombiU." I'll admit that its strange sounding at first...however, this is actually quite a meaningful and clever name. "Zombi" is the name of the first game that Ubisoft ever made...sometime back in the mid 80's (for the Amstrad).

I want a WiiU.

The real question now is: black or white?.....

:apple:

I'm going black I thnk. The UK / Euro launch I'm not convinced will be this year. Nintendo are usually good when it comes to their handhelds in recent years, but home console? We'll see.

That makes sense :)

Gametrailers.com have some extra gameplay footage ofa number of announced titles. Certainly worth checking out.

Assasins Creed 3, town/city gameplay footage certainly has addressed my concerns about the more open woodland sections. There is a level of detail in the city levels all beyond the tree footage and looks like it may not be the mess it could have been.

ZombieU (awful name) but the actual gameplay footage on gametrailers actually looks interesting. I like the idea of 1 life, when you die you die. Graphically it looks good too, and I'd be happy to give it a try when it launches.

Pikmin 3, yay!!
The game I will buy a Wii U for. Nothing more to say really.

SuperMario U ? Yeah looks ok, but didn't scream new hardware as I'd have hoped. Didn't look nearly as refined or next gen as

Rayman : Legacy. Pure beauty and if it's half as good as Rayman Origins were in for a genuine treat.

The Last Of Us is everything I am Alive wants to be. Looks truly amazing, however from the gameplay footage the one thing that jar's for me is the voice of the young girl. She sounds very much older than the character actually looks, and I feel a slight disconnect there, it was like Nathan Drakes girlfriend but looking about 12? Strange for me.

God of War Ascenssion looks excellent again, but other than multiplayer I'm not sure it offers anything additional to the god of war mechanic, and for me GOW never felt like a game I wanted to play multiplayer on. Could be great (nay awesome), could likewise be so so. Single player campaign demo is mightily impressive however.

Batman : arkham city armoured edition on WiiU looks great, but like many here I've already been there and done that. A couple of hours of extra material not found in the other versions would persuade me to re-buy perhaps though.
I have the same basic reactions to most of these games.

GOW:A is a no go for me. I was burned by GOW 3. Bought it, spent a week playing it and beat it 3 times, didn't pick it up again.

I really dig the AC franchise. Brotherhood is one of my favorite games this gen. looking forward to AC III

Last of Us was scary brutal, but in a good way. The fights and aggression shown between the characters and player were pretty realistic, and killing a dude with a rear naked choke while he struggles for his life is a situation I would fear in real life. I imagine this game will leave me thinking just like the first time I watched Saving Private Ryan.

I guess the ZombiU game was known as Killer Freaks last year. I like the change. Nice atmosphere and a cool concept. An open world were you can die and then kill your old character is a something I'm surprised no one has thought of before. Kotaku had a great article of the game http://kotaku.com/zombiu/ that gives a lot of nice in depth info. Looks like it's going to be a solid game. My only concern is that the mission objectives will stay fresh. It will be a bummer if there are a limited number of missions and you constantly have to replay them.

WiiU pad takes 2-2,5 hours to recharge, and works for 3-5 hours...

And here I thought the nagging "Shouldn't you go outside?" popups were annoying.. Now they simply make the game unplayable.. :p

Right! Just a quickie (rolled out of E3 straight into a mad after show party)

WiiU controller is very light.

Nintendoland is going to be good. It's not as "pick up n play" as Wii Sports, but the games are slightly more complex and slightly more addictive.

Pikmin 3 - wow.

Everything I saw on WiiU was 1080p. Texture work wasn't great on some games, but everything ran fluidly, very high res. It's a powerful machine make no mistake.

Super Playstation Melee is one to watch. It's not got the charm of Smash Bros but it's more of the same, and that isn't always a bad thing. It is a blatant copy though... uMVC3 control scheme in a Smash Bros shell.

When Vikings Attack was my most played game. I spent around an hour on that, but I think it's only available in the private SCEE room.

Soul Sacrifice is Monster Hunter meets Dark Souls. It looks incredible.

Beyond is amazingly high quality.

^

Sounds cool aboot the Wii U. Glad to see 1080p even if real games will never use it. I want Mario ;P

Too bad this has been such a lame ass E3. We need new systems badly, or at least one that Sony will actually put some effort into *coughvitacough* since all these old franchises are getting a bit stale.

I keep hoping GTA V will bust out and save me (and yes I see the irony of bitching about old franchises but hoping for an old franchise)

Yes e3 this year has been a bit lame. We already knew of the existance of most of te Showcase games, so whilst a lot of them looked great - they were not surprising gems like we have had in past e3's. In fact there seems to be far less new IP / games than we have seen in previous e3's judging by the media coverage so far.

Wii U is OK, but nothing stood out as the Killer launch title. Remember the days of a really decent Mario or Zelda game for your console Nintendo? Heck not even a Luigi's Mansion... Super Mario U looks fun, but looked out classed by Rayman sadly. Pickmin 3 was the only first party title that I would pay $60 for. Nintendoland best be bundled with the system outside of Japan, or I fear we have another Nintendo console becoming the home of mini-game collections.....

(SHOUTING) Big 3DS with additional thumb stick - Where Are You???? Maybe they didn't want to show off more hardware than the WiiU but it felt like the new 3DS that has been rumoured could have at least got a passing mention. Heck we need an improved 3DS with a screen that can be viewed from more angels so that we can finally play our games in 3D without going boss eyed! And without the circle pad pro attachment that puts the screen slightly out of alignment whilst using it, meaning again frustrating 3D. Just give me a new 3DS and I'll buy it tomorrow!

Vita means Life? Well there seemed to be little life for the Vita at e3 this year. A few games we already knew existed, but nothing to fill up the next 12 month schedule. Not even 1 big name game per month?? Poor show for the beleaguered handheld. And PS remote play for older titles? Drop the crap Sony we want Remote Play from our PS3's for ALL Games or just don't bother having the remote play feature at all.

All in all a rather disappointing e3 even with one of the big guns showing off New hardware. But without clear pricing, killer games, confirmed (as in set in stone) release date for ALL territories it was all too veague and ambiguous for any of us to really get our gamer teeth into.

Poor e3 really. :(

I just watched the entire seven minute Dead Space 3 gameplay video. In my eyes, this couldn't look much worse, really. A total dude-bro shooter, the two heros dodge-rolling, yelling and cussing all over the place...

"Whoa, what the F##K is that??"
"Get out of its way!!"
"NO SH#T!!"

Really? This is Dead Space now? Sad state of affairs. I will just re-play the first one and pretend they never made any sequels. :(

DAY TWO

Rayman Legends is flat out amazing. I played the WiiU version (in a kind of co-op mode). I used the Pro Controller, and good lord it's a good controller. Button placement is weird, no analogue shoulders but very comfy, great weight, VERY good click on the buttons. I'll be getting one of these for my PC.

Hori have new fight sticks, one big and fancy and the other very very small. Both will be had :).

Beyond. It plays as good as it looks.

Played all the announced Nintendo Land games, yeah, they're fun.

Persona Arena is a blast too. Possibly a bit too simplified, but it's very accessible.

Ate a hot dog from a street vendor, if I die just remember I love you all.

Always a danger ;)

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...-window-games-could-release-four-months-later

WiiU launch titles will now be 'the entire first quarter' rather than first few weeks of launch. So a launch game can happen 4 months after the system ???

:confused::confused:

Here is a pdf of the proposed launch lineup
http://media.nintendo.com/pressroom/E32012/WiiU/WiiU_Upcoming_Games_List_E312.pdf

Ok this is not good. So an already subdued launch lineup with games from third party's that have already existed on other systems for upto a year, will now start rolling out those so-so looking launch lineup games in Q1 2013 when we are getting nearly ALL the big hitters on other platforms ????

Not good timing!!!!
A) Do I buy a Wii U with Batman | ME3 which I have already played a long time ago?
or B) do I save the money on the hardware purchase and put it towards TombRaider, Bioshock Infinite, GTA V, Ni No Kuni, DmC, God of War Ascension, etc....

In fact only Aliens : Colonial Marines & Metro:Last Light are amongst the Q1 2013 hitters than are due on the WiiU and that doesn't necessarily mean they will arrive at same time as their other console counterparts.

Yes I will purchase a WiiU on Launch day, I have the disposable cash to do so, but I can see it being a much harder sell for existing 360 & PS3 owning families to justify with the rather lackluster launch lineup going into a time when those other consoles are getting these mammoth titles.

We shall see, but I'd be concerned if I was Nintendo. If there was ever a reason to have One Killer Game for your launch system, it's when it's going into direct competition with a dozen killer games on other systems.

Even the two games that stand out for me on that PDF of releases, Rayman which is for now TBA (so may not be launch day or even launch window) and Pikmin 3 which is now launch window rather than launch day so I could be waiting 4 months to play it after getting my WiiU? :( :( Very disappointing....

See I'm torn at which system to get my games for. The WiiU seems to be very powerful. I'd love to play Aliens and such in 1080p (doubt it'd be running at that on PS3 and Xbox) and the integrated WiiU controller stuff is really good.
But I want to build my Trophy list :)

Yeah. All they need is games.

And the funny thing is the Vita had a great launch lineup, but I'm bored of them. I think it's more important to have a stream of games rather than loads of them. It's the problem wit the Vita - hit the ground running and then months and months of dry spells.

Soul Sacrifice is Monster Hunter meets Dark Souls. It looks incredible.

Was it playable? this game looks great and story seems interesting. Hopefully we get this by Christmas.

Whats the story on "when vikings attack"....gameplay?

Beyond Two Souls, Pikmin and The Last Of Us was the only console games that caught my eye.

Bless

Yep the Wii U certainly shouldn't do a Vita... But i just wish there was one AAA game that stood out head and shoulders above everything else. There was nothing shown this year on WiiU that was as impressive as the Zelda demo last year, which saddens me.

I'll still be getting it though. I need new hardware ;) :)

It's playable at the SCEE room which isn't open to the public. I don't think it's going to be the killer app some claim it will be, but it's good. It's basically more Monster Hunter than Dark Souls, and there's a bit of a Pokemon/Castlevania soul collecting mechanism.

When Vikings Attack is basically Katamari meets Worms. It's really fast paced, we found it really hard to stop playing because the game just keeps throwing you into new levels, but that could just be because it's a demo. Start off with a full team of people, the more people in the team the bigger item you can pick up, throw item at other team(s), certain items cause other team members to join yours, other people run onto the level that join the first team they hit. Not sure if I can go into any more details. It's one to get for sure - and the team are utterly lovely too.
The humour is very British too. All the characters are British stereotypes and most areas are set in UK style locations and it really works. I know it works! Half the customers for my game are from the US and love the britishisms I threw in there :)

Pikmin is wonderful. I've had never played one before until the WiiU version. When I get back I might have to order the Wii ports!

Is Lego City a WiiU exclusive? Because that might be a killer title to have. Has the potential to be the "Little Big Planet" for the WiiU.

It looks like Lego City is exclusive so far, and it's about the only launch game I'm really interested in now. Aliens has been delayed beyond the February 2013 release date, but even if it does make it, it's still two month after Xmas.

If Mario is out for launch I wouldn't say no, especially due to the lack of other choices, but it's going to have to do a lot more than what they showed at E3 to generate any real excitement.

I'd define 'launch' as games I'm going to be playing Xmas morning, not 2 - 3 months later, just to be clear. The whole point of messing around getting the system for Xmas is so I can play all these games over the holiday period with the kids, and it'll be part of their Xmas present anyway.

I'm quite disappointed that there's no WiiU specific version of Skylanders Giants, considering the success of the first game and its huge console-selling potential. I'm hoping Activision are going to do a hybrid Wii/WiiU disc that will display SD/HD graphics depending on the system. I know I'll be able to play the Wii version as the new console is backwards compatible, but it's not the same.

Speaking of WiiU backwards compatibility, I assume that it's still on the cards along with upscaling? I've only just realised nothing was mentioned about it at E3 unless I missed it.

:apple:

Yeah good point.... Didn't hear a peep and its not mentioned anywhere. You'd think Nintendo would say so ?...

Skylanders Giant is also a missed opportunity given the NFC of the Wii Gamepad too.

DAY THREE

LBP Cross Controller thingy is excellent fun, it's like a whole new game.

New Mario WiiU is what you'd expect. Lots of new fun things too.

I absolutely cannot wait to see another Mario Galaxy on this thing.

You know why don't you?

Mario Galaxy HD
Smash Bros Brawl HD

and I'd buy them...

After the crappyness that was the Mario 25th anniversary "collection" (ie. Mario All Stars ROM), I can't imagine Nintendo putting much effort into it.

Then again, they did do Zelda OoT on the 3DS pretty well... hmm

Anyway, Sim City. I want it. game of the show.

was in MONDAY, JUNE 4
Ubisoft was for me the most interesting part.

I must say it is not so easy to follow E3 with all the news shootout.

Kind of late with this ... excited about a few games shown at E3.

The Last of Us - Looks awesome, I can't wait to play it.
Beyond: Two Souls - Very interested in this game, excited to see more. I also like Ellen Page.
Resident Evil 6 - Leon!
ZombiU - What can I say, I love zombie anything.
Pikmin 3 - Yay more Pikmin!
Miku Hatsune - Hoping Sega releases it in North America.

The Final Fantasy tech demo looked really cool.
