I received my magic keyboard today and I’m using it right now since maybe an hour. My first impression is great but its not a »wow« feeling like many others said. I like the quality of the keyboard and its more simple to close/ open the case or just put/input the iPad but I have a few gripes about it so far.

-Maybe its me that didn’t use a laptop since a good while now but I’m nog used to the keyboard to be more far away from my hands. I found myself to be more confortable with the Smart Keyboard folio + a real magic trackpad 2 combo.
-I dont like the arrow buttons, especially the right and left ones compared to the SKF.
-The iPad is placed more higher than before, but its still not enough for me.
-Stills no function keys.

For now I’m satisfied but I don’t think its worth the money if you have the Smart Keyboard folio unless you really want a laptop like experience or you like gadgets like me. Don’t get me wrong, its a very good product and I’m glad I have it, but for me so far the experience is too similar to the Smart Keyboard folio.

This is the thing though this product is based for those who want a laptop experience which is why there is a trackpad.

The typing experience is miles ahead of folio but overall it depends what your main needs are as you can flip that over so it depends how often one would like to use it as a tablet

So many people posting first impressions of this thing and calling it “not worth the money”. Why buy something you feel isn’t worth the money?

It’s more like an opinion for the average user looking for a keyboard case for their iPads. For myself I guess it’s worth it because I’m an heavy tech fan but it doesn’t mean I can’t be objective and think the price is too high for what it does.

Probably because on your iPhone you make a lot of photos and take 4K videos. It's easier to fill up than an iPad in my experience. My iPhone has more storage used than my MacBook and my iPad Pro.
If the 12 pro max comes out with 128GB I will get that as 128GB is enough for me on my iPad Pro

I think that Apple doesnt want us to entirely get away from using touch or the pencil to do certain things.
yep, because if they do that....then you got a macbook with limited OS
Remember, soon, the mac will be able to run ipadOS apps also, beside macos and windows apps, and with a macbook running ARM...will have also better battery usage, than the ipad

Arrived today, i can only say that it is fantastic! It types amazing, it feels good, it is stable, sturdy, love It.
I also love how easy i can pull the tablet of from it’s case to use it naked, really refreshing after using the Smart Keyboard Folio for a year.

11” iPad Pro 2018 + Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro

Your profile photo is also on your desktop. Interesting. :)

I’ve got both the 11” and 12.9”, and have been using the 11” since purchase. Just pulled out the 12.9”, and I’m even further blown away at this combo. The bigger keyboard with the enormous screen are fantastic.

I’ve been finding myself using the iPad more now like a tablet, easily removing it from the keyboard at my desk. The keyboard folio wasn’t hard to remove, but this one makes it even easier to pop the iPad off and replace it when I’m done.

I’ve been having an intermittent bug where the keyboard back light stops auto-adjusting. Happens on both devices. Instantly corrects itself by pulling the iPad off the keyboard and replacing it, just an odd bug that I can’t figure out why it’s happening and can’t reproduce it.

Photos ok, and Movies/Series??? (AppleTV+, Netflix, Amazon Video and Customs etc.)

I see no reason to need to store films.netflix/tv shows on the device. You only need to do that when travelling.

People don’t need to store all these films on their devices but they choose to do so. That’s totally up to them but me? Not needed and saves me money when buying the devices.

if pro max has 128GB of storage this year that’s the one i will buy.

Hitting the space bar to unlock the screen with FaceID has stopped working this morning. Seems to be something else that needs the iPad to be power-cycled to fix.

Tried just using a normal letter it make any difference?

Watched a lot of videos about the Magic Keyboard and seen a few people complaining about it being hard to open. Well has Steve Jobs would say they are opening it wrong!

I know I am saying the obvious here but don’t try an open it like a laptop just place it on its edge hinge down and just pull the keyboard down.

I have been using it around the house different rooms the weight is no problem and I love it best accessory Apple have brought out.

Just trying out my AMK for the first time... yes, it’s heavier than the ASK, but it’s really not that bad at all. I have zero problem with the weight. The keyboard is fantastic and .. the touchpad, wow, talk about transformative. The only minor grip I have is my fingers sometimes tough the bottom of the iPad screen when I type. Other than that, Apple hit it out of the park oh this accessory.

That’s all streaming, so I assume that would only fill the caches and for foreign travel 128GB should be enough for you offline viewing in most cases. But obviously it’s different for everyone. For me my iPhone needs the most storage, then my MacBook and my iPad comes last.

Had to chime in on this—people seem to always assume that if someone buys an iPhone or iPad with one of the higher tiers of storage on it that they’re just using all that space to store Netflix movies. That isn’t going to be the case for a device like the iPad Pro.

I do a lot of graphic design, photo editing, and video editing on my iPad Pro. I did a fairly large LumaFusion project today that I realized at the end of the day would not have fit on my 64 GB 2018 iPad Pro. I would have had to offload a bunch of stuff on to external storage and then bring it back in later.

I almost never buy anything higher than the low tier model, but the 128 GB on the base model 2020 iPad Pro was a welcome upgrade for today’s project. Saved me a lot of time in file shuffling.

After 2 days of intense usage, I still like it a lot, but I still think the screen is too far away from my face compared to the Smart Keyboard folio due to the trackpad. The trackpad is good, but I never liked laptop trackpad that much because I found it to be uncomfortable to use it instead of using a real trackpad next to my keyboard and I also like to have the keyboard more close to me as well but on the plus side, the typing experience is fantastic and a million times better compared to the folio one.

I think it would be cool if Apple released two versions of this keyboard, one with a build in trackpad and one without it because for me the perfect combo would be this keyboard without the build in trackpad and a real Magic Trackpad 2.
