This sounds dumb, but ever since moving to Canada my Mach 3 blades have lasted nearly 3x as long as the ones I purchased in the US. I am seriously beginning to think there is a conspiracy going on.
Same here!!! I thought i was the only person who did that. I absolutely despise being clean shaven. I'm 22 and it makes me look like a 15 year old boy.
I really don't like the look and I don't like the feel at all. I used to shave every single day until some friends and I did No-Shave-November in college and I discovered the stubble look.
One of the big things that helps is to DRY the blade after you finish. Even though they use stainless steel, the edge is still prone to corrosion. Especially with the multi-blade heads, the spacing between the blades is very close - and it traps moisture in. Rinse it, shake the excess, and dab dry with a towel. Since adopting this trick, my blades last at least 3 times longer now.
Use a hair blow dryer to dry the blade after use and store it in a dry place. I heard someone on a talk show once claim that doing this kept a single blade sharp for over 6 months of daily use. Mine don't last quite that long, but if it is a good blade to start with it should last for weeks of regular shaving without any problem.
I just rinse in hot water, and hit it into a towel a few times, to shake the water off. The minor moisture left evaporates due to the heat in the blade.
I got tired of wasting money on Fusions and bought an Edwin Jagger DE89. Blades average $0.25 apiece or so, and I've never cut myself with it. I get a closer shave with no irritation, too.
While not exactly about the blades or the razors, I received a sample of Shave Secret at a local marathon expo last month. I tried it, although skeptical.
I was impressed, it really was the closest shave I've ever had!!!
