If the EyeSight is low res and not very bright, I can’t imagine it would shave off much of the cost if Apple removed it on a future version. Instead, I’d expect them to improve it, so it’s more useful than on version one.

Looking at the thumbnail images of reviewers wearing the Vision Pro, I don’t think we’ll see many people wearing these things in public. They’d be very brave to wear them where others could judge them. I can see why Tim Cook doesn’t want to be seen wearing version one. Which is not to say they look worse than other VR/AR goggles. It’s just that the other ones aren’t being marketed as something you’d wear everywhere.

I’m gonna save judgment till I see it in person. If lenticular pictures show up strange on camera I’m gonna assume so does this display. Sure it won’t be sharp but it can’t be as bad as the reviews make it look

So version 2 is going to improve the look of eyesight, is that what you want to pay for?View attachment 2343305
(From the verges review)
Need to see in person to be totally sure how close or far it feels from eye contact, but yes I would like it to be better than what I’ve seen/heard so far. It might even be that a more cartoony or simplified representation would feel more connected.

It’s weird sometimes eyesight looks OK and sometimes not. In a couple of photos here the eyes look like they are too high on the wearer’s face. I don’t mind the idea behind it but I think it needs to be fairly subtle to work.

I suspect they were trying to show how our eyes WOULD look behind black tinted lenses. If our eyes showed up super bright and crystal clear....probably even more creepy.

Perhaps there will be an option to turn off this feature in future OS updates? Seems like it should be optional at best.

I wonder if we can disable the front eyesight display to help with battery life? This would be something Apple could give us the option too in a software update surely?

Exactly, and that makes it something that isn't going to be captured well in photos. Kinda weird the way some people don't understand this.

It's funny. EyeSight is actually the only feature of Vision Pro that I find particularly impressive.

Except the reviewers who have seen it in person essentially agree with the commentary that it looks stupid and doesn't actually work to break the "you're wearing a headset" social awkardness barrier.

This is veering into Apple apologia.

How are people actually defending this? Apple is clearly BS-ing in their product images showing a crystal clear photo of the girls eyes while wearing the headset. In reality it isn't even close to looking like that. Guys it ok if some of these features are half-baked but coming on here and pretending it was intentional on Apple's part is ridiculous.

So surely I’m not the only one noticing, but the eye ‘passthrough” on the outside display clearly isn’t working at all or very barely working for people. Every review I’ve seen, the screen is a soft glowing white or just black. Apple heavily advertised how a recreated face would be shown on the outside but that’s clearly not happening in any of the review’s I’ve seen. What gives?

I don’t think it works unless there’s an actual human looking at the person wearing the Apple Vision Pro, so some camera rig isn’t going to trigger it probably

Yeah, AVP senses when there are people in front of you. The eyes will appear then. You can try standing in front of a mirror and you should be able to see your eyes.

My partner can see it just fine but it only works with direct eye contact maybe 15 degrees at most off axis

Although I was not convinced in the beginning because I was disappointed on the final result vs marketing material, I agree with Tim Cook about Eyesight being super important

It just seems so superfluous. There’s no issue with wearing sunglasses so why do I need to see some fake eyes when someone’s wearing this?

Noticing a lot of folks evaluating EyeSight based on videos/pictures from cameras despite it specifically targeting the images it's displaying to faces it detects, so if a camera is low but a face is above it the eyes will be offset completely wrong… not to mention you lose the entire 3D part of the lenticular display. (You can see the weird offset super obviously in some of the MKBHD screengrabs making the rounds)

For people with a device curious to test it a mirror gives me a WAY better impression than a camera selfie, I kinda suspect the feature will be a slow burn since it complements the using rest of the system sometimes rather than being a real "feature" itself
