Now that team FutureMark has become team PastMark, it's time to begin another countdown:

I don't even know why he thinks that we actually care about this-- I mean- folding is for medical benefits- it shouldn't be a status symbol.

This is all to get you stimulated to put more effort into folding thereby helping the cause. Remember your battle with Team MacOS X. You did put up a good fight (for a short time) and the project got a few more WUs done because of it. I believe that's worth the effort of a tickle. Otherwise I couldn't care less about what other people do with their computers.

Oh, by the way...

Come on now, we do love a good race. It's good for you, it's good for us, it's good for the project.

I found Team Mac OS X's posts pointless and I didn't think they had any meaningful content, but now that I've seen yours, I think I need to take that back....

We got a quick boost, but that was taken away because the user did not have permission to use the computers, that isn't going to happen again.

I agree, this should go to the wasteland... no, there should be a special forum for it that is even lower than the wasteland, maybe called "The Toxic Dump"

The differences from the wasteland would be that the person who started the topic that had been moved to "The Toxic Dump" would lose all privilege to post. It would then corrupt the text inside the topic so that no-one would need to bother reading it again. It would remain in the toxic dump as a way of saying "FU!"

Having worked for Apple for a short spell, I'm aware of just about everything to get you really riled up and angry & me banned but since I wanted some friendly competition I'd stayed away from those subjects. But seeing you take offense from even such light tickling there's only one thing left to say:

Sorry to disturb your slumber. It seems y'all want to stay where you are. No point to teasing. We'll just pass you by silently (pun intended) and seek better challange.

Well, we aren't feeling very friendly right now, and many of us could care less about the points.

This team is currently going down in production, and the only way we could boost our production enough to keep you from passing us is illegal and will end up with us losing points.

I don't know ANYONE who doesn't know how to rile up Mac users....

Now I think I'll go back to sleep, thank you very much.

I'll race you anyday, and so will the rest of the team. But I think they gave up a bit after "our last incident". Too bad, it was too good to be true! Come on Team 3446, we can do better than this!! Get out those old G3's, 604's, 603's and even your 68040 and lower! Get those LC's and Se30's working again!! :D

I thought you had to have X to fold...

That's the spirit Dreadnought, thanks

I'm aware of your "incident" but that shouldn't put you off. Team Macrumors didn't get where they are just with that incident. Everybody and every team has its bad days, that's no reason to shut down.

Come on everybody, this is the best time to show that you can still race and outproduce people by recruiting new people to the cause. It just needs a little effort on everybody's part.

Just to give out an example: We are as you know into quieting our computers. It takes a lot of effort to cool todays monsters quietly and we are proud of what we achieve. We have many newcomers coming to our forums, asking for advice. We help them out and point them to our folding forums in return. Once they get a taste of a good race, most stay on to fold. And since their computers are quiet, most choose to leave them on 24/7. That's how we produce disproportionately more points per member than most teams. We are now into 400+ members and we have one of the highest folding loyalty. We got here by caring about the project, active recruiting, and keeping up the spirit through friendly races.

In the words of your eternel nemesis Macoholic (known to you as Monster Mac and he gave US a lot of folding ambition while they were passing us):

Fold on!

Oh, btw:

Okay team Macrumors, what's happened? We're just going to roll over and die after "the incident"? No way. I'm sure some of you remember how your blood got pumping when we fought against The Knights Who Say Ni. Remember how much it sucked when we got passed after all the taunting, and then remember how much fun it was to ramp up and repass. That was awesome and was one of the motivators for me to get as much production as I have now... (well that and that I was duking it out with maxvamp and meeble at the time).

Those good-natured fights got us where we are. Okay, yes, it is about the medical good that we're doing. However, if that is all that it is then tell me you don't get a good feeling when you pass someone on the team Macrumors list, much less watch team Macrumors pass another team.

I understand the slump we're in now. I had been complacent for some time. Then "the incident" came and knocked quite a bit of wind out of me. I was really excited for the first time in awhile and it was fun (though it was shocking to go from what I considered unpassable to being passed in a week). Then it was over in the worst way possible. But about a week later I watched the board start to light up with new comers talk about adding machines. Then we passed Sudhian Media on our own and it felt good again. I hadn't added machines in months and I went out and found four that I could add and felt really good about it.

So go back and read the posts from when we were the #1 Mac team in the world. Look at how we laughed with the taunts and posted dire warnings of revenge against anyone who passed us. We certainly didn't throw around ban warnings and misdirected anger. In the time that we have now after jethroted's screwup is when we can pick up the pieces and get the team rolling again or just give up. Let anyone who comes to this board see that we'll rise to the challenge in points and attitude.

I still fold for team Macrumors, I will always fold for team Macrumors, and I'll fold for the good of the world and for the good of the team. And anyone who passes us should always check the threat board and always be ready for their own boards to light up.

So that's my viewpoint, take it or leave it. I know I don't post much and I'm not a regular, but I am a devoted team member and I've been with Macrumors for some time.

Congratulations SilentPCReview, you will pass us, and I advise you to enjoy it while it lasts. We'll meet again.

not so fast, buster ;)

we're having a field day today and if things keep up, it might take alot longer than our friend burka thinks. :)

and I added another machine....

ps: btw, khaldei, rower is outproducing you now. better do something about that! :D

i guess this is a bad time to let everyone know that i lost two machines and i am down to my linux box and my slow ibook? But I still got some fight and will try to add as much as I can in the upcoming weeks. I for one dont plan on just going out with a whimper. Sure it may be a bit too late to fend off these guys but its not to late to prevent them from getting away to far.

I was pretty impressed at the job of arn and the macrumors team today for the keynote and I noticed that we had over 1700 people only on irc (not counting those that were pounding the website). Maybe the macrumors folding team needs to start working closer with Macrumors itself to start bringing more people into folding.

Plus I am new here but can someone tell me why we have so many inactive people on our team?

dont worry about it...they posted the same meaningless garbage in our forums =\

sure is a good way of disrupting a good communication mechanism and a good way of pissing people off...

after a semi-long conversation of their boards, they finally said that they were taunting us to somehow magically increase our production

well anyway, I dont see how it is relavent to folding...

My "disruption of a good communication mechanism" seems to have "magically" increased team Macrumor's production by 20%

Just joking people, but that's one VERY impressive burst of speed - considering the number of Tinkers going around. Congrats to all who contributed. Hope you keep it up & make your breath felt at our necks.

Happy folding

Somewhow, I don't think you're the only reason... maybe a little, but what would really help (as mentioned earlier) is some co-ordinated front-page plug. Maybe a php'd realtime link to our status, show how we're crunching and whether we're in danger...

It wouldn't take much... would it?

I wondered why you weren't racing away! Hehe... you watch your back, I'm getting access to a couple more machines in the next week, hopefully... :D

<edit: d'oh. read posts, boy...>

Khaldei, you have motivated me. I stopped being a hard-core folder 'cause you guys whine like little girls whenever someone taunts you. This is supposed to be fun, quit being so sensitive.

In light if Khaldei's comments I have fired up 14 processors, 1Ghz+ each. Anybody else want to come out and play? Shemp9999?

I just got my boss signed up with his G4 1.25 Dualie! and an iMac 333... oh well, we'll see how it goes.

Grrr, my taunting DID work. That 2-days-to-overtake isn't going down anymore. Maybe I should switch to piratespeak  ;) :p

It takes a special kind of person to pull off piratespeak - are you "special"? ;)

I just jumped on the bandwagon with a Dual 2ghz, Dual 867mhz, Single 1ghz, Athlon 3000+ and Athlon 1ghz. Hopefully I can add two more 1ghz G4's to the mix shortly.

Fritz, you are in front of me, but lets see if I can catch you. :)

I'm folding with a friend btw, user mmmdreg.
