No updates available on my S5 on AT&T. I checked and it it was up to date.....There's a new update rolling out that improves performance.
Anyone received yet?
Curious to see if the multitasking menu opens faster for example.
I cant imagine where these phones will be in another 5 years
I found 1520 on CL for $275 and I am very tempted to get it this weekend! With the 8.1 update and cortana I might be ready for a change.....
For Samsung is easy to say: just add 0.2" and 0.3 GHz every year
In 5 years we would have a 6.5" Note 8 with a 3.2 GHz octa core

It is great, but it is huge .... I love it but I don't really know if I could use it as my daily phone
Yeah, quick refresh (full story in other thread)
Last Monday was taking out nano sim in a micro sim adapter to put in my 1520 from my GPE S4 and I broke the pins on the S4 sim reader tray (adapter caught them).
So took it into town to be repaired (still waiting) and whilst I was in there they had a M8 for sale for 529
Asked if he'd be interested in trading my S4 once repaired and they said no, but they would offer me discount if I took the M8.
I cautiously said how much discount, and they said they would give me the M8 (and repair my S4) for 350!!!!
What could I do but go for it
So yeah. Ended up with an M8, though I'm still waiting for an unlock code from O2 Ireland (o2 have requested it from HTC and will send it to me when they have it)...
When you consider the S5 was going to be 250 on a new 24 month contract, 350 for both the M8 and my S4 repaired was a bargain...

Maybe a tablet thing. Perhaps they are going to launch a tablet version.
But then 5 years ago we had 2 inch screens and were happy to have that on our flip phones. The smartphone evolves along with technology and consumer tastes......if people did not want a larger screen....they would not buy them.....
wrong......no one is forcing the consumer to buy larger screen phones they WANT them....that drives the larger screen phones. Consumer choice...Lesson learned : never use a Sim adapter ... They can break pins into the Sim tray and your precious smartphone is basically *********
----------
Just to speak about Samsung give me a link to an high end device with a small display please.
You are FORCED to buy those pans, mate

Here is a link to a TON flip phones with smaller screens. But guess what? They don't sell because people want larger screen phones...

This is pointless..... I gave multiple examples of high end flipphones with smaller screens and you ignored all of them. Samsung was included in the links. Then a roundup from Masable with great reasons to get a smaller screen flipphones. You ignored then all. Done with this....
NONE of them is an high end smartphone. Not a single one.
You gave NOTHING here.
You had the courage to link me the review of Samsung t159, a ridiculous device with a terrific 1.3 Mpixel camera and a 1.8" display.
I say again, link me just one.
You linked a bunch of crappy fliphones. We are speaking about smartphones with "not so giant" displays here ...

There are choices. There may not be a Qualcomm 800 out right now but there arent a ton of those out period but there are phones that are smaller that have decent specs if you want one. The iPhone for example and even they are going to a bigger phone because.....people want them!NONE of them is an high end smartphone. Not a single one.

They doesn't exist.
Samsung like other are forcing enthusiast consumers to buy smartphones with displays bigger and bigger every year. The only choice you have if you want to have latest technology is to buy a crappy downgraded "mini" version or a bigger flagship
I say again: give me a link to a single one Samsung HIGH END (do you know what an high end smartphone is, right ? I speak about snapdragon 800 and 2 GB of ram) with a 4-4.2" display, please.
I'm going to help you: there are NONE.
Same in HTC, huawey , whatever .... The "mini" version of flagships usually are crappy downgraded phones.
The only exception is z1 compact.
People "want" those pans because Samsung had decided so ....
People vote with the wallet mate lol if Samsung made those phones is because people wanted not because "Samsung decided", it seems like you want to believe that for some reason.

Here is the report about the update:

Might be rolling out first to unlocked devices.
The iPhone is in its own league .... and my first choice so far, because of its form factor. We will see about the iPhone 6 , but I truly hope Apple will give us choices.
In this section we are speaking about droids, you said there are choices. Name one , especially speaking about Samsung.
If you want a flagship you have to buy a big s5 or an even bigger Note 3.
The iPhone is in another league for sure but a step below imo. Id buy the iPhone 6 with the 4.7" screen if only Apple would give you more choices. But they wont and i dont see them ever doing it. Thats whats always held me back from them....that and the tiny screens. Android for me is just a better option and gives you more.
I dont like that i cant download another keyboard to use or have the choice of Swype that has been around a couple years now. And i was never a fan of iTunes either.
A step below ?We still have to see a SoC like last year A7 on a droid, and well probably have to wait another coupe of quarters for that ...
But we are going off topic here
Yes a step below, imo. And why i dont use a iPhone. The newest iPhone still isnt going to give you choices and that will be a big step below...for me!

Yeah mate yet most "droids" can that far more that the iPhone 5s with the A7I own a 5s it works the same as the 5 I used to have, guess that soc it's worthless with iOS.
Now my note 3for me of course.
If you think Apple is going to give you choices then you are dreaming. They arent going to open iOS and let you have other browsers and keyboards and such. If you think they will then yes, it is a useless discussion.Very interesting .... An unmatched SoC is a step below and you are judging an iPhone yet to be released (or even announced).
Useless discussion ....
Not going to start a discussion on how full of useless gimmicks most of the droids are for me.
I'm just speaking about a technical point of view.
If you like your note 3 I'm happy
Gimmicks is the new popular word here in macrumors lol mate what I'm trying to say is that there is no point on a powerful soc when it's limited by the Os.
Except there is no limit on iOS for many many people.
I'm a tech enthusiast, I like my nexus 7, I like my Lumia 925 ... Different os, different philosophies.
Every os has limitations.
