Have you guys tried using nils floating panel? Its an overlay on the lock screen, on my M8 it shows all my notifications on the lock screen with a pattern unlock I don't have an S5 to test.

Thanks for this tip, just installed it and it works well! The icons don't look very good though and they seem to be the same in all themes available for download. Do you know if there's a way to change them? I can't find an option to do it but I might just be daft. Would be so much nicer to have the standard white notification icons that you get on vanilla Android or Dashclock Widget.

EDIT: Confirmed, I am daft. All you had to do was to go into each individual app's setting and change the icon setting to "monochrome"... The only thing that nags me now is that the text/icon alignment is weird and the font doesn't really fit.... But otherwise awesome.

He does make some of the most professional reviews on YOUTUBE. :)

Yeah. I also owe him one for making my girlfriend accept my fetish for touchscreen gadgets at least a tiny bit, she can't stand any of the other tech reviewers but she actually thought he was pretty cool. She even sat out the whole Nexus 5 review and now she's getting one :D

TouchWiz just needs to be trashed ....

It's the main reason I'll hardly buy another Samsung device (I could consider only GPE version).
Samsung philosophy is just "throw at the wall and see what sticks" with their devices and the software .... this results in very good hardware bloated by crappy software.

Do you have an M8, an iPhone 5S and a Note 3 ? Wow ....

No i have had all 3 in the last 6 weeks, just the M8 now. Might buy another note 3 though, the first one i got cheap but had been tripped.

Not treated example but Thankfully Chris Nacca has just uploaded one for the M8 & S5

As expected, both fast at opening apps..

Memory issue with reloading apps still present on the S5 whilst the M8 is better at managing memory, even better than N5 in previous test.

....

Now if only we could get Samsung's 16mp camera inside the M8 we then would really have the nirvana of handsets. Sadly we don't. Though I am tempted by the idea of a Google Edition S5 :)

Camera and ability to take pics in swimming pool / under water where I can not use my dslr.

Overcast today......

Here they both are without using Tapatalk. Can you guys see a difference?
It is cloudy and overcast today.....

He posted some audio and video test along with comparison test. It did very good job. Surprisingly nice audio quality and fast auto focus to boot. M8 strengths are multi tasking speed and build quality. I think, S5 build quality in terms of wear and tear is fine. Being water proof makes its camera more useful than even a dedicated gear. Spouse was using first galaxy phone until recently without any build issues eventually employer replaced with M7. It is not possible to add camera and water proofing to M8. S5 speed is fine for normal use.

I am hoping for price to come down once 32gb model appears. How long does it take for ATT to reduce subsidized price.

Tell me more about this glance app

This Qualcomm app is for Snapdragon devices. It is an overlay on the lockscreen. It shows your all your notifications, and you can also acknowledge notifications from your lock screen. Further, it studies your phone usage and provides you recommendations on what apps and contacts it thinks you will be using at that point in time. Works well most of the time.

Read about the glance app but there were a lot of complaints, seemed people either liked it and had no trouble, and others couldn't get it to work with notifications disappearing or battery draining. Weird....

I haven't observed battery drain, but I did have a problem with notifications not showing up. The latest update seems to have resolved that issue.

Just installed it and wow does it make a huge difference. A big gaping performance lapse is now fixed.

Glance and go information is important to me, and Glance helps a ton. Big thanks.

Very surprised Samsung have gotten rid of lockscreen widgets.

I loved it for cbs sports scoreboard

I also use nils lockscreen notifications on my note 3.whuch is great so now likely on the note 4 it will be the same as there will be noway to get notifications on the lockscreen
