Anyone have pro tips on how to save some battery life on the S5? I tried limiting background processes and a few other things but not much luck. I am down to like 15% at like 8 or 9 PM each night. :(

^ Are you a heavy user?

I'm down to about 60% and that's quite light to medium usage.

Make sure location history is turned off in location/Google settings to help preserve battery too.

Go to settings....Application manager. You can turn off the apps you don't use......Here are the things I have turned off.....
I usually have about 40-50% left at the end of the day. For me and my use I could go a day without charging.....

Strange ... my application manager says disabled not turned off. I wonder if thats a carrier customisation on your device...

The Galaxy S5

Quick question - how is the front camera on the Galaxy S5 in low light (indoors at night) for selfies/Skype/videos? On the iPhone 5S it is actually not bad, it is not dark and there is just a little graininess. The Z1 Compact I am trying out actually has these issues, it is awful.

Its just so-so, but then again, I'm not a selfie kind of guy ;)

Yeah must be.. mine says enable or disable ...

Call it semantics or what have you but I like that mine says Turned Off. Sounds more forceful than Disabled.

Now if you rub the back of your phone......does it change to Turned On?

Is this a feature just for the s5?

How much bloatware :(

I can do the same on my nexus 7 .... It just says enabled/disabled.

A tip to share...

Developer options, limit background processes to 1 or 2.

Frees up significant memory for multitasking. It does not limit multitasking, it limits those other background services like Samsung push etc..

My device works smoother now.

Tried this on my S3 and now it flies!!!!:eek::eek:

I always thought that option was to limit multitasking! WOW. My S3 is super fast and fluid now. Even less reasons to upgrade to a new phone.

Thanks!!!

My s5 seems to be much improved after the update from ATT and switch to Nova launcher. I also disabled some apps. With Nova launcher, most of the TW functionality seems to be working.
Forgot to switch off HDR. Added little contrast and saturation later.

Nice pictures! Gotta love that camera!

It's just finicky ... I got three of mine to register and it does work if you do things in a very methodical manner. But the reality us when we unlock our devices we don't do things methodically, and thereby using the finger print scanner quickly often retails in unrecognised attempts. Likewise the fact the pass code then requires a letter and digit combination means entering that after failed attempts is longer than it needs to be too. The whole point of unlocking your device should be quicker, sadly it isn't and neither is it any more secure than a pattern lock or PIN number. So yeah, as a convenient way to unlock your phone it fails big time ... As a Paypal payment method where you take your time it works well however.

On my iPhone 5s the fingerprint scanner works really well. To bad Samsung couldn't figure it out. It is a very useful feature. Maybe it was because Apple bought out the company who made their technology, and then Samsung had to use second rate tech lol.

TBH...i don't Apple buying Authentec has anything to do with the fingerprint scanner on the S5. It has more to do with Samsung adding a feature to try to keep up with the competition. But they just didn't really commit to the new feature. They did not have as much effort put into the feature. Samsung could have gone the same route and bought an existing company i guess. But who knows if fingerprint scanner will even be on future Samsung phones.....
